“Super Stay, Super Hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2011

Loved our stay in Cozumel, and our Hosts were one of the best we ever met. Ditto all other reviewers, and the pictures do not lie. Would love to come back soon...and enjoy all the great moments all over again.

Magda was amazing, so friendly and loved visiting with her, and David had good suggestions on the island. Our king room was very comfortable, especially the A/C, can't imagine a room without air!! The tropical humidity can cause a slight mustiness, but a/c helps elimate this situation. Bath was very large and clean. Coffee is excellent, and breakfast a real treat.

We appreciated not having to prepay before we arrived, and gladly paid cash once we were ready to leave. Perhaps it was our last minute (3 days in advance) reservation, but this made good business sense to us.

They also have other Cozumel properties 3 bedroom (all kingsize beds, Magda has done her market research!) mid-town apartment & 1 bed oceanfront condo, so if B&B isn't your thing, ask about these.

Learned from other US tourist, the Mega Market or Wal-Mart-like Chedraui are the best places to ATM, and/or buy anything you may need.

Our Favorite Places to Eat: La Choza (just across the street! Go for lunch special, ask David)
Del Sur (empanadas & steak) El Foco (guacamole, burritos - but saw their whole fish entree, and wish we had ordered that!) All in walking distance from Villa Escondida.

Best Drinks: Agave (on the Square, ask Magda) $5 Margarita, in different flavors. I loved the Coconut...and daughter said the Cucumber was the best she ever had! Skip Margaritaville $10 drinks...unless you just want to use their waterfront playground.

Room Tip: All four room are identical...King Bed, A/C in separate building towards back of property, parking i...

A perfect home-base for a Cozumel vacation! The location is fantastic, being located very close to the main plaza and within luggage pulling distance to the ferry from Playa del Carmen. Madga and David are great hosts. I loved their authentic Mexican breakfasts which always included fresh squeezed orange juice and a generous plate of sliced fruits. The property is beautiful and the rooms are perfectly laid out and decorated in Mexico style. My sister and I stayed in the upstairs room that has two single beds, which were extremely comfortable.

Cozumel is paradise and staying at Villa Escondida only makes your trip that much better. David and Magda are unbelievable. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and are always around to offer advise or answer questions so you can make the most of your vacation. Honestly the beaches and snorkeling are great but it's the experience we got at this B&B that makes us want to come back. We wouldn't even consider staying any place else.

First trip to Cozumel (5 days diving) and Villa Escondida was the perfect choice for somewhere to stay. 5 mins walk from the main square and ferry port and right across from a great Mexican restaurant (La Choza). Room had everything you need with a very comfy bed, large shower room, AC and a fan. Garden and pool area were also nicely laid out, although we didn't have much time to use these.

Great as the B&B is, the best thing about this place is the owners. Magda and David made us feel so welcome that we even moved our diving around to be able to enjoy Magda's great Mexican breakfasts and linger for a chat over coffee.

Couldn't recommend this place enough and will definitely be back on our next visit to Cozumel. Oh - and diving was fantastic as well!

Have been to Cozumel more than 30 times, and wanted a B&B experience for my son when we took a dive trip this October. David and Madga provided just the experience I was hoping for. Excellent breakfasts were prepared in time for our early morning dives. It was great visiting with David and Magda when we returned in the afternoons. The pool was great for cooling down with a tropical drink. (Be sure to take a bottle of premium rum to share with David.) A great location considering the B&B is across the street from one of our favorite restuarants (La Choza). A community room to access the internet, watch TV, or share drinks with other guests.

This B&B lives up to it's reviews! My mother and I stayed at Villa Escondida in early September and had one of the best vacations ever. Our hosts, Magda and David, could not have been nicer or more accomidating. They patiently answered every question we asked, made wonderful recommendations for supper every night and were great company around the breakfast table and during the day. And while we're on the subject of breakfast, I wish that I could have taken Magda home to cook for me. Her breakfasts were always delicious and filling and we learned so much about Mexican cooking during our stay. The rooms are spacious and clean with lovely Mexican handicraft touches. And after a long (and very hot) day of diving and touring, it was so nice to have the pool waiting for us to cool us off. The central location of Villa Escondida is also great....no more than 10 minutes from so many restaurants and attractions and 3 doors down from my favorite dive store, Deep Blue.
No review of Villa Escondida is complete without mentioning "Cutie-Pie", Magda & Davids adorable daschund. She made it easier to be away from my dog for the week.
I can't wait to come back here again soon.

On our last trip to Mexico we were travelling without scheduling much in advance, including lodging. Since tripadvisor has never steered us wrong, I called Magda before we got on the boat from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel and she graciously accomodated us at the last minute. The consumate Canadian/Mexican hosts, Dave and Magda provided delicious breakfast, wonderful conversation and an all around great experience.
