“Great hosts, wonderful food, relaxing digs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2010

Villa Escondida was a great place to stay in Cozumel. The location was quiet but still an easy walk to the waterfront and square. The house and rooms are gorgeous and the pool is great after a hot day roaming around. Magda and David are gracious hosts who seem to read your mind.

Even if everything else was horrible (it was not!) I would still recommend staying there just for the breakfasts! Magda makes incredible Mexican dishes with fresh, local ingredients. Breakfast at Villa Escondida is better than anything you can get at a restaurant.

If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay in Cozumel you will love it here!

We really enjoyed our stay at Ville Escondida and definitely plan to return for a longer visit. Magda and David were great hosts. Their location is very convenient to town and all types activities. It really is a hidden jewel. We had a very relaxing holiday and were sorry to leave.

What a wonderful, quiet, sanctuary in the heart of Cozumel. Gourmet breakfast to start the day along with a warm welcome from "Cutie Pie" the family pet. Keep up the good work !!!

Wow, exceeded even our most optimistic expectations..
Trip Advisor reviews were, if anything, understated, on what a hidden gem this B&B is.
Four identical rooms, two upstairs, two on ground floor, separate building from the main house the generous hosts live in, with a lovely tiled pool and gardens in between.
Breakfasts, full homemade local specialties made by Magda are delicious, preceeded by local fruit plate, and she first enquired as to food allergies, which my wife has many, and proceeded to whip up special breakfasts for her!
Good advice as to local restaurants; even saw Magda at one of the restaurants we were at!
A bonus was two mountain bikes, a bit old, but well maintained by David, which we used, gratis, to ride all around the island, about 30 miles; only recommended for the fit as the winds can be tough down at the bottom of Cozumel; making for a tough journey back to town.
Would be a great place for a group to rent out all 4 rooms.
Price; exceptional; $90/nite all in!
Oh, location: tucked into a side street only two blocks from the ferry and central square, walking distance to just about everything, including many dive shops, (we used Deep Blue two doors down)
Check out my photos.

If you want to experience a beautiful, fun, clean, safe place, head to VE. Magda is the perfect hostess and David, AKA Jack Nicholson, will keep things lively. I am already planning my trip back. See you there!

We stayed at villa escondida for a portion of our honeymoon. We have always gone to all-inclusives before and had never tried a bed and breakfast. Now we are sold on bed and breakfasts and villa escondida. David and Magda have a great location on the island. You are within walking distance of everything in town and a stones throw from getting anywhere else you need to go. The grounds are beautiful and David has done a spectacular job making it into such a nice looking and relaxing spot. It is literally an oasis right in the city. The food is great, We ate way better food on this trip than we ever have had at even the highest end all-inclusive, Every morning we had a delicious plate of fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice and Magda made a great different main dish every day. Our favorite was the crepes with the poblano sauce. We were so full after breakfast that we did not ever eat again until dinnertime. We had wonderful dinners every evening. David and Magda always recommended great retaurants to try and we loved all of them. The food could not be beat. The final thing to comment on was what great people David and Magda are. The are the friendliest and most helpful hosts you could ask for. The always chatted with us, and were a wealth of knowledge on the island and things to do there. They helped us with where to go and how much to pay for a car, booked a snorkel trip that was great for us, and Magda even called to check reservations for us for dinner. You could not ask for better hosts and a better place to stay. Please ask us if you have any questions, we would be happy to answer them for you. We hope to come back and share this wonderful place and people with some friends.

We look forward to returning to the Villa Escondida!
