New, modern, clean and definitely affordable, a little bit of minimalist chic on an island where you won't find another hotel like this. I loved the location, so close to where the ferry docks, and we had a very satisfying view from our third floor room. (Be sure to request a bay view room, $10 more but definitely worth it.) We did not use the small pool or try the free breakfast, but it was reassuring that they were there. Good bed, spacious bathroom, in-room safe, nice TV, mostly quiet at night. No mini-bar, but there is a nice little bar area (usually dead though) downstairs. The employees were pleasant but did not seem to speak much English or have any recommendations for restaurants, etc. But other than that (and a lack of "do not disturb" signs) it was even better than I'd expected. One thing: Orbitz confirmed a room with two double beds, which we wanted, OR one king-sized, but the hotel told us that the bay view rooms only had king-sized beds (and at that point everything else was booked). You may be better off booking through the hotel's website or contacting the hotel to get the right bed set-up.

I have been at Bahia for four nights now and i love it. The staff is great, the view is spectacular and the rooms are fantastic. I could not ask for anything more. Oh, and the shower is amazing. 8 heads!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in early February. The hotel is easy to get to from the ferry and our bay rooms provided a great view from the fourth floor. The rooms were clean, small and sparse. Bare white walls with minimal furniture. Nothing on the balcony. Bed was comfortable and we slept well even though the hotel is on a very busy street. Free continental breakfast was a plus but very basic. Small indoor/outdoor pool is an afterthought. Some communication/language problems over the phone and with the front desk. Free internet was nice. Price was great; $80.00/night. This hotel is an underachiever. A few pictures on the wall, some color in the rooms, a little multi-colored accent lighting on the outside and better use of the lobby area would make a big difference.

I was surprised by this little gem of a hotel, usually when you stay in a hotel for less than a hundred bucks you get what you pay for. This little place has very friendly front desk staff that speak enough English to answer questions like where is good to eat and things of that sort. The pool is a little small, but you are just up the road from the beach so do they really need a pool? They have all the standard amenities of a standard hotel room delivered fantastically. It's close to centro yet not in it as it does get a little noisy down there. Great for travelers that want to be close to the action but not in the middle of it.

New hotel within walking distance to ferry at public beach. Rooms are super clean and nice. . .no frills except the great shower with tons of shower heads! Breakfast is actually just juice, coffee and bread and it is not served until 8:30am. Absolutely worth up to about $80/night in my book. The cheapest rates were found on their own website. . .I paid $55/night which was a steal. Rooms have no blow dryers, no fridge, no coffee maker. . .if you want ice you have to go down and ask the front desk worker. Staff wasn't terribly friendly, but no big deal. Our free wireless internet worked the entire 6 days. Would definitely stay here again for the price. It is NOT a 5 star hotel such as Villa Rollandi, but it is definitely would be 4 stars for Isla downtown!

We (my wife and I) were on the end of a two week+ vacation through a few different places and decided to spend our last couple days on Isla Mujeres - and we are soooo glad that we did. The island itself is extremely laid back and offers a welcome slow down from the pace of Cancun.

We found and booked the hotel online after reading the few reviews here on trip advisor. As we were pulling into the port, we could see the hotel and like someone else said, that is just a welcome feeling to know that you can just walk a few blocks and your there.

The online rate was about half of the posted rate at the front desk and we feel that we got a great bang for our buck. We spoke to other people on the island and sure enough, you can find places for cheaper, but in the end, we didn`t want to take any chances for our last two days. You can also pay more for less.

We were completely surprised at how new the hotel was. The hotel is `super-modern´ - it still smelled new. In fact, that would be the only thing remotely resembling a drawback if you are looking for a `quaint´ or `mexican´ styled hotel. For us though, we loved it. A modern shower (with body massage), big screen flat panel TV and super comfortable bed were a welcome end to our holiday.

The staff was extremely friendly and willing to help with whatever you asked. Although the hotel would be considered - off the strip - that is really a non-issue with the size of this island. From our hotel it was a simple 5min walk to the main strip. In fact, unless you plan to tour the island (which we did by pedal bike), you can absolutely walk everywhere you need to go.

We never did eat the breakfast, or dip in the plunge pool, but those are both there for you if you wish. Bottom line - whenever we end up back there, we know where we will stay!!

I travelled to Hotel Bahia wih my partner over the Christmas break. We were not disappointed.I completely agree with the other reviewers.
A few notes. The rooms are great but if you're a light sleeper the bay view rooms do get passing road noise.

Don't get a cab once you get off the boat. The hotel is five minutes walk as you turn right out of the port.
There is no hair dryer in the room -so remember to pack one. The wi-fi can be a bit hit and miss.

Apart from that we couldn't ask for more , Miguel and all the staff were brilliant.

The breakfast is nothing to write home about, but you don't have to go very far to get a good spread.
I've gone brain dead on names, but there is a great cafe on the corner, about three blocks along going into town-has an orange facade.
Oh and the yoga place does great breakfasts and probably the best coffee. I would say the yoga wasn't amazing.
The island is tiny, there is really no need to have a golf buggy for more than a day.
