OK the Good: Its Cheap-ish and New, rooms are sparten but clean-ish with a decent bed and has a lovely shower. Its close to the Ferry...and all the noise that goes with it but you can walk with your bags no problem.
The Bad:: the ad says soundproof rooms and private beach on Expedia
There is no private beach but a small pool slammed in the courtyard between this hotel and the neighbouring one. The pool had some unused kitchen equipment stored alongside it. A beach may be available next to the Fisherman's Social Club about 200 to 300 feet away down the road and accross the street but I don't think its groomed or private.
If you get the expensive room they face a fish restaurant over which you can see the bay with NOISE ALL NIGHT...scooters, golf carts, loud talking and a beacon like noise that beaps all night. Get the third fllor or a room that doesn't face the street but.....The hotel is concrete and the outside of the rooms face the inside courtyard and lobby with open slats in each bathroom. Every sound is amplified
You can hear everyone come in on the weekend in whatever party state they are in and basically people can hear you take a shower or whatever we all do in the bathroom if they are in the hallway. There were little bugs like tiny roaches that scurried out when the lights were out in the bathroom. A planter on the deck was full; if cigarette buts and standing water.
There is a little breakfast bar downstairs but the cream was lumpy in the coffee...not curdled.... lumpy. The staff while not unpleasant, spoke limited English and the phone didn't work so we couldn't ask questions from our room. We looked at big powerlines out the window to see a lovely sunset. Mind you there are no deck chairs.....
We stayed one night out of the 3 we booked and then went off to stay on the North Beach because none of our party got much sleep due to street and stairway/hallway noise.
The North Beach is lovely and we stayed at Ixchel Beach which was about 20 dollars more than what we paid for our night of pain and its a great room on a great beach
We stayed at Posada Del Mar before and even though on the main drag was not as noisey at the Bahia and we enjoyed it.
If you party and drink enough to sleep through anything, the Bahia is for you...its a great spot at a good price
As for us we are trying to get our money back from Expedia for the nights we couldn't stay there
