OK the Good: Its Cheap-ish and New, rooms are sparten but clean-ish with a decent bed and has a lovely shower. Its close to the Ferry...and all the noise that goes with it but you can walk with your bags no problem.
The Bad:: the ad says soundproof rooms and private beach on Expedia
There is no private beach but a small pool slammed in the courtyard between this hotel and the neighbouring one. The pool had some unused kitchen equipment stored alongside it. A beach may be available next to the Fisherman's Social Club about 200 to 300 feet away down the road and accross the street but I don't think its groomed or private.
If you get the expensive room they face a fish restaurant over which you can see the bay with NOISE ALL NIGHT...scooters, golf carts, loud talking and a beacon like noise that beaps all night. Get the third fllor or a room that doesn't face the street but.....The hotel is concrete and the outside of the rooms face the inside courtyard and lobby with open slats in each bathroom. Every sound is amplified
You can hear everyone come in on the weekend in whatever party state they are in and basically people can hear you take a shower or whatever we all do in the bathroom if they are in the hallway. There were little bugs like tiny roaches that scurried out when the lights were out in the bathroom. A planter on the deck was full; if cigarette buts and standing water.
There is a little breakfast bar downstairs but the cream was lumpy in the coffee...not curdled.... lumpy. The staff while not unpleasant, spoke limited English and the phone didn't work so we couldn't ask questions from our room. We looked at big powerlines out the window to see a lovely sunset. Mind you there are no deck chairs.....
We stayed one night out of the 3 we booked and then went off to stay on the North Beach because none of our party got much sleep due to street and stairway/hallway noise.
The North Beach is lovely and we stayed at Ixchel Beach which was about 20 dollars more than what we paid for our night of pain and its a great room on a great beach
We stayed at Posada Del Mar before and even though on the main drag was not as noisey at the Bahia and we enjoyed it.
If you party and drink enough to sleep through anything, the Bahia is for you...its a great spot at a good price
As for us we are trying to get our money back from Expedia for the nights we couldn't stay there

My girlfriend and I recently stayed there on March 3, one night before moving off to the AI's of Cancun. I'm sorry that I didn't stay longer as I really liked the island and hotel. You can see clearly see the hotel (a tall white building to the right) as you pull into the docks. I would guess maybe a 5 minute walk (if that) from the docks to the front door so theres no need to take a taxi as long as you have wheels on your luggage.

It's fairly basic accomodations, however, everything thing is clean. The shower was great with and always had hot water. We had a room on the back side of the hotel with a room on the fourth floor. Not much of a view but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway. Also, I didn't have a problem because I figured the backside would be a little quieter. There is a very small pool which seems to always be in the shade due it being surrounded by the hotel. I didn't see anyone use it, but it was probably due to the chilly weather. Your pretty much in walking distance to the northern part of the island. I would rent a golf cart if I was to venture to the southern part.

They did serve a lite breakfast at the hotel. It did not look too appealing so we ventured to the main strip and had a pretty good breakfast outside an italian restaurant. The night before, we ate at one restaurant a little up from the docks. It was on the water and had a nice view. I had a shrimp appetizer, grilled fish, beer, and a coke for $15 US. It was delicious.

I would definately go back to the hotel and island. It reminded of a small key west. Unfortunately, we had cool and breezey weather due to El Nino. Take a small jacket if you're visiting soon.

this hotel is great, especially after our terrible experience staying one night at the hostal Casa, Tulum with bed bugs and rental bike complete ripe off, Hotel Bahia Chac Chi is like 'heaven' to us.

1. this place is very new, very clean, bathroom was excellent!! constant hot water.
2. it is located just 1 mins walk from the ferry, about two-three blocks to downtown. very convenient.
3. staffs are very friendly and helpful!

There are two things I think they can improve to make it perfect.

1. breakfast: not great selection. make sure you get up earlier to eat or else you will end up having nothing left. Also, flies tend to go near the food because there's no door to seperate cafe from stree/entrance.

2. exchange rate is too high. they said they would either accept peso or US dollars. but if you pay by peso, they are charging you 1usd = 13.5 peso, so you actually end up paying a lot more than if you just pay them US dollars. I was not happy about their high exchange rate, so I asked them to check current rate online, which turned out to be 12 something, the staff immediately apologied for it and said he can't really do much because it's set by the hotel, but he would offer us free breakfast. i ended up paying US dollars instead of peso.

Our room was really clean, simple, and quite comfortable. The bed was firm, the shower was hot, and the view from the balcony was wonderful. There is a good seafood restaurant just across from the hotel, and after a day on the beach we ordered late lunch. Efrain, our most excellent bartender and all around hotel attendant, delivered our restaurant meal to our room while we showered. I'll be back to Bahia next year for sure!

This hotel very clean and modern, and was close to everything. You can see the hotel from the ferry. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a cute complimentary breakfast of juice, fruit, toast and coffee in the morning. We had a great view of the bay and a nice balcony to relax on. The showers had hot water and I loved the shower fixtures. I will definitely stay here again when we go back to Isla.

New, modern, clean and definitely affordable, a little bit of minimalist chic on an island where you won't find another hotel like this. I loved the location, so close to where the ferry docks, and we had a very satisfying view from our third floor room. (Be sure to request a bay view room, $10 more but definitely worth it.) We did not use the small pool or try the free breakfast, but it was reassuring that they were there. Good bed, spacious bathroom, in-room safe, nice TV, mostly quiet at night. No mini-bar, but there is a nice little bar area (usually dead though) downstairs. The employees were pleasant but did not seem to speak much English or have any recommendations for restaurants, etc. But other than that (and a lack of "do not disturb" signs) it was even better than I'd expected. One thing: Orbitz confirmed a room with two double beds, which we wanted, OR one king-sized, but the hotel told us that the bay view rooms only had king-sized beds (and at that point everything else was booked). You may be better off booking through the hotel's website or contacting the hotel to get the right bed set-up.
