“Barely OK”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

My room was located across the street from the office on the second floor. There was no baggage assistance at check in which would have been nice as I travel with quite a bit of diving and camera gear. The room was basically a bed with and old TV on a desk (with no chair) and an end table next to the bed with no lamp. Nothing else. The arrangement was ok for me as I was traveling with several other divers, but I wouldn't think about staying there with my wife. The rooms near the pool area seemed nicer, however, they were also very small. As noted by other travelers, the location is pretty good as the downtown area is within walking distance and the hotel is located on the beach. Don't get too excited about the included breakfast. Its just coffee, juice and toast. Don't forget to get your "ticket" for the free breakfast. Your room key won't work with the staff. Breakfast beyond coffee, juice and toast is off the menu at an additional cost. The beach bar was enjoyable although i could have done without the DJ playing until 3 am Saturday night.

Room Tip: Get a room near the pool and close to the beach.

This hotel has been in business on Isla Mujeres for many years. Located on north beach, the view and beach are breathtaking. The outside restaurant (Buhos) is perfect for breakfast (toast, coffee, juice included with stay) and there is a good variety of items on the lunch menu. We enjoyed choosing from favorite restaurants down town for our evening meals.
We stayed in the hotel section across the street from the main office. We requested a king bed. The room was very basic but updated bathrooms and very clean and comfortable bed and room. Friends stayed in the cabanas around the pool area and we enjoyed the evenings outside on their patio. Their units were smaller and had two double beds. Some tower rooms have king beds but the rooms are very small. The pool is small but just right for a cool dip in the afternoon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Prior to our arrival I spoke several times by phone with Clara who spoke very good English. The cost of chairs and umbrella’s on the beach was a non issue for us. The price was very reasonable. We were able to reserve golf carts at the front desk and they were waiting for us right outside the hotel.

Room Tip: If you would like a king bed ask for a unit in the castle section, across the street from the main o...

This place have a great location, just beside the best beach in Isla. We decided to stay longer so at first we were in the tower section ground floor, it was a small room and really dark with double bed. We didn't like it much but the location was so good and we really liked the island that we decided to stay longer. Our room was booked so we moved to the cabanas second floor, whitch had 2 twin beds but the room was much more bigger and nicer(and even cheaper), with a big shower and a nice view of the beach. Need to mention that both of the rooms were very clean.
The breakfast is really poor (americano with 2 tost and jam, no milk..), but we were not expecting more from a continental breakfast.
The downside in this place was the mattress, especially its cover, felt like 5 year old again...they should invest some money in replacing them.
Overall a nice place to stay, definitely would stay here again.

Second time I have stayed at this hotel. First time was better because our room was cleaner. Both times, stayed in tower. My husband and I do not need fancy. Only concerned with location and cleanliness. Location is perfect. Room was filthy. Bedding was clean or I couldn't have stayed there. Stains on walls, lots of hair all over bathroom floor, mildew on bathroom walls, tons of hair in shower drain. If it were clean the other things wouldn't matter. Things such as little lighting, no where to unpack anything at, shared balcony, tons of dust on fan, and extremely bad bar service...where u also eat breakfast. I'm totally fine with slow. I love slow. But 45 minutes to get toast and juice, after you have to flag someone down when they are not busy at all is kind of frustrating. The bartender is the same. Again, I don't need entertained but the bartender is rude. Ladies at hotel desk are very friendly and so is the maid. She's a hard worker but cleans all of the tower rooms by herself so I'm sure she doesn't have the time to do the cleaning needed. Your can actually get a nautibeach condo for just a little more if two couples are going and can split the cost of the 2 bedroom place. That's where we will stay next time.

Hotel is right on a beautiful beach with great pool area. We would recommend the hotel. Avoid the room next to the laundry and staff room as your patio will not be yours but used to fold laundry and as a meeting place for staff. Second floor rooms above the pool seem like great rooms.

The rooms are very basic and the beds are kind of stiff. If you can get past those things then this place is perfect. Steps away from playa Norte the best beach on the island and only a couple blocks away from all the nightlife. Every room has a/c and a refrigerator. This place was great for the value. Just be sure to book in advance or it will be $100US plus. I found rates for $50 a night on hotels.com. Really enjoyed my stay.

If you are planning on spending every minute on the beach and don't care about your room, then the "Tower Section" would be ok.
But if you, like us, want to relax on your balcony, or beat the mid-day heat in your room, the "Tower Section" is terrible - so small there is literally no where to put your toothbrush, or unpack - you'll live out of your suitcase. And the balcony is shared with everyone else, so people are smoking cigarettes in your face the entire time, and no privacy at all.
The other parts of the hotel, surrounding the small pool, however, are pleasant enough for the price. And the gardens are lovely.
Room 67 is very private and pretty (again, relatively-speaking). $130 a night is a lot for what you get.
Tips:
Bring your own pillow!
Breakfast is a JOKE!

Room Tip: Room 67. Stay away from Tower Section.
