My husband and I were guests here from May 8-15th (combination wedding anniversary and birthday celebration) and will cherish the memories we came home with - mostly due to the hard working, dedicated staff at this gorgeous hotel. We felt so spoiled. The food was delicious, especially the ceviche and red snapper. One of the waiters, Jesus took very good care of us. Not only did he reserve our favorite sunset viewing table, he arranged a birthday dessert for me!
The weather was perfect, except for about 15 minutes of rain. Most of the week, we had the beach to ourselves and Ariel made sure that we were well taken care of. Due to the size of the resort, we were also able to meet some fellow guests, who were very nice! To everyone at the Villa Rolandi who made us feel like family - Thank you so very much for the best, most memorable vacation ever!

The hotel staff was wonderful- always very helpful and friendly. Definitely email the hotel before your trip and arrange the airport transfer- worth every penny. The hotel staff will greet you at the airport and deliver you to the dock to catch the hotel's boat. When the boat pulls into the hotel, the staff greets you at the dock, takes care of your luggage and check in while you sip on a complimentary drink. The beach area is very small, but the pool is great. You can rent bikes or a golf cart and go to other beaches.
We were able to upgrade our room and had breakfast on our patio each morning. The meals that are included are good, since the hotel is on the other side of the island from the town.
Great place to go if you want to relax!! It is not the Cancun scene

During the past six years my wife and I have ventured throughout Mexico and the Carribean. On four different occassions we have made Villa Rolandi as our destination for sun, service and relaxation.

This year was no exception! As we stepped-off their private yacht and ventured on to the dock we were greeted by old friends. Cool moist towels went along with icy beverages and warm hugs.

It is amazing that staff has remained loyal throughout the years. Service and privacy still abound on this oasis. Be it poolside, oceanside or their fine restaurant. They had reserved our favorite table in anticipation of being consumate hosts. We were not disappointed by the best cevichi in Mexico.

Our only regret is that vacations do have to end.

We are regular international travellers and after staying at many SLH, Peninsula and Mandarin orientals this SLH hotel did not meet the standard.
The private hotel launch from Cancun is very nice and a great way to arrive at the Hotel. The rooms are dated with the bathrooms having white plastic fixtures and fittings. Shampoo and liquid soap bolted to the shower like a Travelodge! The furnishings look like the glory days were 2002 and have not been renovated since then. The bed was very comfortable and had no problem sleeping off our jet lag.
The view from the rooms was beautiful and the gardens were well manicured.
The hotel is a short cab ride to the main town or if you choose a short golf buggy ride (Highly recommend renting a buggy even if only for a day to visit any attractions).
The hotel restaurant had excellent service, is not gourmet but above average. The prices are far above average for the quality of food and wine.
The poolside is quiet and relaxing but unheated. The beach is very small, mostly due to coastal erosion. The weather was inclement when we were there so they could only fit 8 loungers on the beach and the steps from the restaurant were roped off as there was no beach to step onto.
All of these gripes are somewhat picky and it depends upon what you expect from the hotel for $500 a night. The biggest down fall was the service. A couple of members of staff were excellent going far beyond their remit and delivering exceptional service however, 95% of staff fell far below expectations. We waited for nearly an hour for service poolside before finding our own staff member to take our order. The maid forgot to re fill the mini bar half the days of our stay. Even after requests to re stock the bar it was only carried out after a 6 hour wait. When our room was cleaned the room service dishes were not removed and the used towels were picked from the floor and replaced on the rails.
Considering the hotel has only 35 suites and we choose these hotels for their personal touch, it is no excuse that we were given the wrong room key a number of times during our stay.
Unfortunately on Isla mujeres there is not a lot of competition and this is probably the best place to stay.

We recently visited Hotel Villa Rolandi for our honeymoon and it was amazing! We spent a very relaxing 5 nights there and loved every minute of our stay. The service is impeccable. The waitstaff at the pool was always around, but not in your face. They really know how to do things right.

Our stay included breakfast each day either in suite or in the restaurant. We did both and all of the breakfasts were great. My husband loved the habanero salsa! It was super hot!

We spent the first 5 days on Isla at an all inclusive hotel and this was a nice change after that. We thought the food and drinks were reasonably priced and very good. Also, we took the private boat back to Cancun and then used the car service offered by the hotel. We'd definitely recommend that to other hotel guests! We are already looking forward to our anniversary trip to Villa Rolandi!
