As locations go on Isla Mujeres, Playa la Media Luna is almost as good as it gets. Only the Avalon in my opinion is in a better location since it is essentially on its own little isolated "island" just across from Playa la Media Luna (PLML).

For me this was just a quick stop over on the way to Cozumel for an extended scuba diving trip so I chose to go cheap. There are mostly very nice rooms at PLML but for the real budget minded, they have at least 2 budget rooms that are separate from the main building. I paid a mere $35 per night total (price changes based on season). For me, it was adequate but for those that want luxury, do not book these low priced rooms.

The staff was accommodating when I asked if my checkout could be delayed by an hour. The pool is small but it was clean and looks right out over the Caribbean sea so it was very nice to cool off in during the hot afternoon.

I would stay at PLML again in the future.

La Media Luna is the perfect place to rest right on the beach in a quiet secluded
area but within walking distance from all the restaurants and shops. It is very clean
and the service is excellent. Everybody was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend
this hotel.

I will return again and again (availability permit). I absolutely LOVE this hotel and its staff members. The not so good, and not so important, news it that your clothes won't dry quickly at this hotel since you are so near to the ocean.
The GREAT news is that:
- the staff is SUPER helpful.
- you feel safe, especially traveling solo, because even though you could enter the hotel from the beach, past 10pm, only hotel guests are allowed to enter the premises after showing their tag to the doorman. DO.NOT. FORGET your tag.
- Breakfast is pretty good. Try the local wheat bread. Yummy.
- The pool is absolutely beautiful. And the view of the ocean is an instant muscle/mind/soul relaxer.
- you are a bit isolated from the noise, people, and commotion of Playa Norte, which is a mere 5 minutes away by foot.
- there is a constant breeze that travels through the hotel and allows you to sleep without using the AC.
- The rooms are REALLY clean. The Hamacs on the balconys facing the water will lull you to sleep.
- You can get food and drinks at the pool.
Need I really say more. If you are looking for a super fancy, in the middle of action place, then this is not the place for you. If you would like a very quiet and soothing temporary abode with access to everything you could need on the island at an affordable price then hurry and book your stay. Playa Media Luna gets booked months and months in advance. Good luck!

Oh my goodness! This place was just wonderful. Once you walk through the lobby, and see the ocean right there, you immediately know you are right where you want to be. We arrived on a Tuesday and were given a room on the ground floor. Nice and cozy king size bed and walked right out onto a patio looking at the pool. We slept with the windows open and enjoyed the ocean waves every night.

We liked the location because we could walk out to the beach and go right to the Malecon to town or left on the beach and walk to the North Beach. We could walk out to the street and walk to Hildago Ave and have our pick of any restaurant and shop at the local shops.

When we arrived, we got off the ferry and found a bicycle cart guy to carry our luggage to the hotel. We walked along with him and he even stopped at the local grocery store and we bought drinks and snacks for our room, since we had a refrigerator. We enjoyed the walk to the hotel. If you enjoy walking, this was a fun way to see where you are located.

This was our 2nd trip to Isla Mujeres and we definitely will stay again at Playa Media Luna again, because it was close to everything and also very quiet and relaxing too. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms.

If you want a brilliantly located hotel then this is it. In downtown close to the main street, eating strip and Playa Norte. Although Media Luna is not a swimming beach the pool and locale to Playa Norte made up for this. There were definitely pros and cons to our stay here. Pros: location, cleanliness and rooms which we spacious with a huge king bed and balcony. Cons: pool has no open and closed times which meant other guests swimming at 2.30am and children at 7.30am. Also, we stayed when there was a large family holidaying at the same time. Unfortunately that meant they took over the pool and made other guest feel like they were intruding. All in all would return, minus the big family.

Room Tip: Getting the King Room is definitely worth the little bit extra money
