“Central location, but a little noisy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2013

The hotel is clean and located in a great spot. The staff were nice and quick to smile. The major drawback is the music from a bar down the street; it isn't bad music but it is loud and it continued until midnight on the 3 nights we stayed, wed - fri. Luckily we went out late so it didn't affect us.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors have fridges and more furniture. They also catch more breeze. The toilet i...

Thanks for your review.
Many business surrounding this bar are affected for the noise. However few months ago, this bar stopped until 3 or 4 am. Now the authority is very strict and the noisy must finish at midnight. Otherwise this bar can get the closure.

Stayed there for 2 nights and was very satisfied with my stay! Very cheap hotel, clean rooms, nice, welcoming staff, cold/hot water, safe inside. Just would advise to take rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor, so you wouldnt hear ppl passing and those rooms have more sunlight.
Located right on the corner of main tourist street, very close to the best beach on the island, like 4 min walking!
A bit loud untill 12am as there is bar right next to it, but after 12am its ok!

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor rooms

Thanks for you review.
You are right, the rooms with more sunlight are the ones in 2nd and 3rd floor. However the rooms on ground floor are cheaper

Great budget hotel right in downtown, walking distance to everything. Very clean, nice, attentive staff. The upper floor balcony is a nice place to sit and watch people go by below. Free coffee in the morning. I was able to use pay-as-you-go wifi from the room. Only drawback is that being downtown, it's close to some really loud nightclubs that stay open way past midnight.

Room Tip: the units near the street have good views

We had 4 nights at Hotel Marcianito in a double room on the 2nd floor. The room was very spacious and had a big A/C unit (that we didn't end up needing) as well as fans and windows to keep the air moving. It's a nice bright room that has a fridge and television and two comfortable double beds. The bathroom was cosy but great and the showers consistently hot. The room and bathroom were meticulously cleaned every day to a very high standard. There was no WiFi in the hotel however there is a partner restaurant where you can use WiFi for free. The hotel is right in the middle of town within easy reach of everything. One or two of the nearby restaurants had some pretty rowdy nights which affected sleep a little however they were mostly finished by 12:30am.

I would certainly return here. Highly recommended.

Hotel Maricianito is owned by the same family who owns Xbulu-Ha. I wanted to stay here but I need to have a/c so it hasn't been an option until this year. I'm so happy I finally stayed here!

This is a budget hotel...I don't want or need much...my must have list is very simple...the place needs to be small (ie 10 rooms or less), clean, have a balcony, air conditioning and I need to feel good about being there (happy and safe). Then there's the nice to have things which is a mini fridge and a safe...that's it! Anything else is a bonus for me. This trip I bought a Black & Decker one cup machine..it's very compact and fit in my luggage perfectly...I used it for the week and then gave it to Mariel so I had room to bring home souvenirs including her delicious coconut candles lol. :-)

My room was similar to the room I've stayed in at Xbulu-Ha. It's small and compact but big enough for me and very clean. I was on the second floor right above the Hotel Maricanito sign in room 8. It had a brand new air conditioner, mini fridge, tv and electronic safe. One double bed, night tablle, single bed, small closet, desk and a bathroom with toilet, sink, shower.

I'm a big balcony addict and I love to have a coffee (or four lol) in the morning and a few wobbly pops in the afternoon...I spent many happy hours on the balcony. The location is fantastic! Next door is an internet cafe, there's a lavanderia (smells so good and is 60 pesos for 4 kg) right on the corner, and you are basically smack in the middle of everything. It was awesome!

Important for some may be that If you are a light sleeper this place might not be for you. I only heard a racket one night til 4am..came from Pure Life (not 100% on the name but it was next door to Amigos on Hidalgo which is right around the corner). I didn't have any problems with noise/sleeping.

A big shout out to Nelly (Housekeeping Lady)...she's absolutely lovely (and so is her little boy..funny little kid!)..anything you need from towels, blankets etc. she's happy to help you!

Thanks for opinion. This year Hotel Marcianito has had some improvments:
3 rooms with air conditioning, some rooms have a new shower door, new bathroom windows, and so on.

For next year I will continue remodel the hotel to make it better for all my guests

if you are on a low budget Marcianito is a good option for your stay in Isla Mujeres.
Basic, though very clean, it needs maintenance. Mattresses are very comfortable, great sleep.
The location is strategic , 10 mins walking form the embarcadero, 20 metres from central Avenida Hidalgo with all Restaurants ans bars and 10 mins walk to beautiful Playa Norte. The Lady that runs the Hotel is always smiling.

Room Tip: ask for corner rooms , there is no AC and they have 2 windows

What a lovely find! I'd been to Isla Mujeres in January/February and decided to return within a month, but wanted to stay at a more affordable place for 2 weeks. Hotel Marcianito is central to all amenities. My room was clean and simple, complete with television w/ cable, overhead fan, and windows offering a cool cross-breeze. I loved my room because it was a corner room on the top 3rd floor. Prior to booking, I inquired about WiFi access and, alas, there is none. However, I was informed that I was welcome to use the free WiFi service as well as the common room at this hotel's "sister" hotel, Hotel Xbulu-Ha, just a block north around the corner. The manager, Gabriel, was most accommodating and answered all my questions via email and then in person when I was in Mexico. Booking online was smooth and efficient; I used PayPal. I also loved the fact that upon arrival I could pay the balance with a credit card.

What I did not know was that my hotel room did not have a fridge. My fault, for I shouldn't have assumed it would. Nonetheless, I fared very well. After all, with affordable food and drink prices, why have cold cervezas in the confines of a hotel room fridge when you can enjoy imbibing in an open-air restaurant or at the beach of this idyllic island paradise? :-)
