“little heaven in a small island of mexico!”

Me and my bf found this place by driving around isla mujeres in a small golf car, we were staying at a 5 star resort in cancun when we stopped by curiosity for food at DA LUISA restaurant right above CASA IXCHEL, we were so impressed by the restaurant, the food and the service that we decided to take a look at the hotel, we thought that with such great food was worth the look, and OMG! they had such fantastic rooms and suites that we couldnt avoid take a chance and be adventurous and stay one night to try it, dont forget we had a 5 star room awaiting for us in cancun lol... we had such a great time, so relaxing so calm so beautiful that next morning after a delicious breakfast we head to out hotel in cancun just to grab some clothes and came right back to casa ixchel lol we stayed there for what was left of our stay in cancun, we pretty much abandoned the 5 star resort to go enjoy casa ixchel lol now in november we have a full week reserved at casa ixchel. forget about the 5 stars they really cannot match up this place, beautiful rooms, suites, amazing service, amazing people running this place, the food is by far the best i have had in my life, and the sunsets in this side of the island are just heavenly...is such an agony lo leave, im counting the days till im back! i highly recommend this place for all those looking for relaxation, romantic atmosfere and privacy...dont forget the food and nice drinks! enjoy!

Room Tip: try the abundance suite.

I love this place - this was my second stay here. It's like a little oasis away from it all. The whole vibe of the place is calming - you have no choice but to chill out. There are no TV's, no radio's, no screaming children, just the sound of the ocean. Having wi-fi was good, though, for the occasional email check. We also found out that on this side of the island there's always a nice breeze -which means no bugs and not as boiling hot, especially in August! On the other side, where the beaches are, it's a different story. Even though that means that there's no real beach by the hotel, I prefered it - the beaches are a quick golf cart ride away anyway. The place also has an awesome restaruant on the rooftop and they'll bring you cocktails by the pool!

After much research and deliberation in planning for our wedding, we discovered and decided upon Casa Ixchel. It was exactly what we had in mind for our ceremony and honeymoon...small, quiet and beautiful. All of our expectations were met, and we were additionally impressed by the quality of service provided day after day at the hotel and restaurant Da Luisa. We stayed at Casa Ixchel a total of 8 nights and by the end felt like we had acquired a new family. The wedding was wonderful; it would not have been the same had it not been for Nadia (the hotel manager), Giorgio (the chef), Moy, Juvencio, David, Roger and Luis (restaurant staff). We awoke every day to the sound of the ocean, the sun rising, and delicious coffee and fruit! What more can you ask for? We are anxiously awaiting our next visit!

Room Tip: Splurge for the suites or apartment...they are worth the money!

If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay in Mexico then this is the place for you. I couldn't be happier with my stay at Casa Ixchel. The service exceeded my expectations. The hotel is under new management and Lior was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The theme of the hotel is relaxation, so don't expect any distractions like TVs or radios, however they do have internet available should you need to connect with the world.

The pool, a great place to sunbathe is overlooking the Caribbean sea. The restaurant Casa de Louise just recently received a very well deserved 4 star rating. The food is exquisite and the chef Giorgio does an excellent job but most importantly the prices are extremely affordable, especially for the quality of food you're getting.
Casa Ixchel was one of the most relaxing vacations I've taken and I can't wait to return. Thank you for the great service and making me feel very welcomed.

The service was top notch. Lior, Nadia, Nomeli and Moi made us feel right at home. Our air conditioning unit was not working ... not only did they fix it right away, but they replaced the entire unit, did it while we out of the room during the day and then gave us a gift certificate for a complimentary meal at the hotel’s restaurant (Da Luisa – great breakfast). I wished we had gotten that level of service at the overpriced all-inclusive we had stayed in just days before in Playa Mujeres.

Our room was quiet, quaint and quite charming. None of the typical distractions (phone, TV, etc.). The hotel is equipped with wireless should you need to reconnect with reality. The room (Grace) has 3 sliding glass doors that when opened allowed us to enjoy the warm Caribbean breezes as we slept. Our only complaint ... more water pressure needed in the shower.

Unlike other reviewers ... we loved the location. Located in the middle of the island on the Caribbean side, Casa Ixchel is a very short taxi/golf cart/scooter/bike ride to downtown. The Caribbean side is absolutely beautiful (see below) with incredible sunrises and the soothing sound of breaking surf. The beach, while it does not compare to that found on Playa Norte, is excellent for shell and coral collecting.

Amenities: refreshing pool on the deck overlooking the Caribbean; futon-like beds on the deck for afternoon sun bathing; onsite restaurant (Da Luisa) at the time rated #7 on Tripadvisor; complimentary yoga class (Melanie Herrman – Hatha Flow Yoga) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings.

Room Tip: ask for a suite

My girlfriend and I returned several weeks ago from a lovely and totally enjoyable stay at Casa Ixchel. From the moment of our after hours arrival when we were met by Luis and escorted to our room until the day that we left, Lior, Nadia and the rest of the staff could not have been more accommodating in seeing that we had a great visit. I was celebrating a milestone birthday during our stay and literally everyone at the hotel helped my girlfriend to arrange a series of surprises that made it incredibly special.

The location is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the town but the town is easily accessible with a $2 taxi ride or 15 minute walk. The Hotel is set on a beautiful strip of beach with a nice pool and deck where we were able to spend hours relaxing quietly both in and out of the sun. Our room was quite comfortable, nicely decorated, had a small kitchenette and we were able to fall asleep each night to the sound of waves gently rolling onto the beach.

The restaurant was excellent and, contrary to other reviews, reasonably priced for the quality of both the food and service. In fact, the service by both the wait and kitchen staff was, unexpectedly for us, on par with some of the nicer restaurants in New York City where we live.

Thanks to everyone at Casa Ixchel, we had a pretty perfect week and very much look forward to our return!

This was my 3rd stay at Casa Ixchel in the past 2 years. I help facilitate retreats and have brought groups of 10-12 people now on 3 occasions. I have always loved the location and intimate feel of the hotel.
I would like to acknowledge the new management team for their wonderful and successful efforts in providing a much better and indeed superior service to all of us!
We felt taken care of, our needs were always met, and the warmth and sincerity of the team was heartfelt! Thank you Nadia, Lior, Oyuki, Aury, Nomeli, Roger, Moi, Giorgio, Luis, Juvencio, Lucio, Glendy.....You were wonderful and we appreciated all of your hard work - we look forward to seeing you again in 2012!!!
Un abrazo y Namaste - Annabelle
