“Shhhh, don't tell anyone!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

I've written reviews for Casa Sirena in the past and honestly, as this lovely B&B gets more and more popular, its getting more and more difficult for me to book my favorite room 6! So, I'll give you the scoop here once again, but you have to promise not to tell anyone else. Promise? Ok.

The proprietor of Casa Sirena is Steve, the host with the absolute most, as always. We were traveling with another couple this time and rather than stay at the hotel, we stayed at the two-bedroom condo owned by Steve, "Sirena by the Sea", which is located right on the idyllic North Beach. Rolling out of bed right onto an included lounge chair was a wonderful way to spend the two weeks that we were there. Though an unfortunate series of events prevented us from staying in the actual condo, Steve made sure that we were booked into an even MORE wonderful unit. We still had to visit Casa Sirena for breakfast (our choice), though there are closer breakfast options available (including cooking in our well-appointed kitchen) because the cooked to order breakfasts there, along with the companionship of the other guests, is not to be missed. Every evening at 6:30, we strolled back up Hidalgo to go to Happy Hour, another Sirena benefit not to be missed. Margaritas, the sunset, the great company of other guests and friends of Steve make each night magical. Not saying much more. Experience it for yourself. But don't tell too many people - let's keep this place to ourselves. ;-)

Room Tip: Every room is a winner. High quality linens, cold ac and spotless accommodations provide all guests...

Returning guests are one of the great joys of innkeeping! Glad you enjoyed our beachfront condo and the opportunity to join the hotel guests for breakfast and happy hour. Hope you can return soon to your secret little island!

This was our second visit to Casa Sirena. From the refreshing welcome, to the personal service, exquisite comfort, delicious breakfast, and stimulating, fun Happy Hour, you can always count on consistent quality and service at this charming villa. Highly recommended!

I have to admit this is a hard review to write since so many other reviewers have already captured Casa Sirena so beautifully. But in case anyone is wondering whether or not Casa Sirena lives up to the high expectations set here at Tripadvisor, let me assure you it does. My husband and I just returned from a 10 day stay and we can't say enough great things about the place. The property is truly lovely. Well designed, wonderfully decorated and immaculate. Rooms have plenty of AC but the main living areas capture that wonderful indoor/outdoor living style that we love in Mexico. Steve has considered so many details in setting up Casa Sirena - from the bottled water, to the mini-fridge, beach towels, beach bag etc.... everything is designed to maximize your stay. Breakfasts were fantastic (and I am really PICKY when it comes to food quality), and the happy hour is a great way to end the day and meet new friends. We really enjoyed getting to know Steve and Jose (the great concierge who comes by daily to help out with whatever you need from tours to golf carts) and the other guests. Now - having said how much WE LOVED Casa Sirena - I should note that I don't think this is the place for everyone. If you can't unplug and give up your TV don't stay here. It's simply won't be a good fit for you as there are no TVs. If you can't put down your phone or tablet at breakfast - likewise. There is free wifi that let's you check in with the world and work, but you are expected to be able to be present with other guests at breakfast - and that is appropriate for a place like this. So - if you can't unplug - stay elsewhere. Similarly - if you want a big resort feel and to walk out on the beach - this is the wrong place for you. The hotel is downtown Isla. We loved the location - close to everything, and once you were behind the door - you are in a delightful private oasis. We could walk to Playa Norte in under 10 minutes and had no trouble renting chairs, umbrellas, palapas and beach beds (depending on what we were in the mood for). But I realize some people like a more standard on the beach type of resort with giant swimming pools, swim up bars and views that don't include downtown images. This isn't that - so stay elsewhere because you will be happier. Lastly, if the notion of hanging out with strangers (now friends in our experience) makes your skin crawl and your prefer the anonymity of a big corporate hotel - then don't go to Casa Sirena. This is more like visiting someone's home where there are a bunch of guests - most who don't know each other. Steve also occasionally has island friends come by for happy hour. We loved all of this and it helped to make our stay really special. But it isn't for everyone and we'll all be happier if people who don't like this type of place stay somewhere else that better fits their desires.

Steve - thank you for an amazing stay!!! We will so be back - Casa Sirena is now the only place for us when looking for a beach holiday in Mexico.

I am not easily impressed and was skeptical about all the great reviews I'd read and heard from friends... but it really is all it's chalked up to be! Breakfast is not just "help yourself" rolls, fruit and juice on a buffet but rather a seated, cook-to-order hot breakfast (my last day I even had it delivered to my room!). Sunsets on the roof top patio, with freshly mixed margaritas in hand were magical - and Steve's charming personality and fun playlists made it even better. All of these things add value to the trip but the time and energy saved by having Steve and Jose's knowledge of the island and various excursions is priceless. We were there in June (off-season) and were able to swim with whale sharks, enjoy a catamaran cruise for the super moon, and went out one night to watch sea turtles lay eggs on the beach. What an amazing trip!

The only reason I would think about not staying here again is because you can't walk out the door into Playa Norte but I still don't think that could keep me from going back. The breakfast is excellent and the rooftop happy hour was one of the highlights of each day we were there. Can't go wrong staying here!

Love the island, love the hotel, love the experience. Casa Sirena itself is beautiful and comfortable, and Steve has to be one of the world's greatest hosts. The breakfasts and sunset happy hours on the roof of the hotel are fantastic.

Room Tip: They're all good, but room 6 has the best view, looking out at the ocean.

We are very happy you made it a point to return to Casa Sirena... and bring five other couples along for a seven-night Private Hotel Rental. I'm already working on a new happy hour disco-karaoke mix for your next visit...

I stayed here for 3 nights and it was by far the best accommodation experience I encountered in Mexico. Steve, Jose and the team do everything they can to make your stay great. The breakfast, the rooms, happy hour.... Everything you read is true! There is a reason they are number one. Thank you Casa Sirena, cheers larraine :)
