My sister and I just returned from Isla and I am in love with the island! We stayed at Su Casa on Sac Baja. There are 7 rooms with kitchens right on the beach. While the rooms are rustic, the price is reasonable ($78 per night) and the location stunning. We awoke every morning to birds and surf (and a few cats who knew a softie when they saw one). We also spent time next door at Zamas Beach Club which had comfortable chaises and decent food. For the cost of a drink or snacks, you can lounge all day. The only downside is that it does do lunches for party boats from Cancun, but not every day. There are other restaurants within walking distance - Casa Rolandi was our favorite. The Turtle Farm seems to be partially open. The "museum" piece was running, but there was one dirty tank with too many turtles that was very sad. Everytime we walked by, we wanted to set them free.
Isla Mujeres is a slice of heaven close to Cancun in distance, but worlds away in essence.
