“Pretty Island and Pretty Pricey”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

My husband and I decided to do a day trip to break up our stay and heard that Isla Mujeras is close and very accessible. Both are true however the ferry charges US$17 pp round trip but while there you will need to rent a golf cart to get around to see the sights. The golf carts are US$15 per hour or $45 for 3 hours. It only takes 1 hour to get around the Island itself but any portion thereafter wlll cost you another $15. The restaurants are pretty pricey so make sure you take enough currency with you. It did break the monotony however probably should have stayed in the resort where everything was already prepaid.

“Good to bike on island”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

I was staying in the hotel zone of Cancun (Gran Caribe Real) where I was able to have a bike for the day as part of the all inclusive package. I decided to bike to Tortugas, mostly cycle way from the hotel and take the ferry across (complete with bike). The ferry trip price was reasonable and an excellent fast trip across (20mins or so), sat outside on the top deck, exhiliarating! I biked around as much of the island as I could, didn't quite make the turtle sanctuary as extremely hot and the weather closing in. As previous review, there are a lot of taxis/cart/bikes/golf buggies which I am sure are a good alternative (with commentary) etc the taxis even offered to put my bike on the back seat. I cycled along a promenade on the north side of the island, disused and quiet with the thundering waves for company. I bought a few souveniers then decided to take an earlier ferry back as I could see the weather was closing in. This was a delightful calm and peaceful trip to a fairly flat (for biking purposes) island, touristy, but not over the top, with lovely beaches and coastline.

“Nice excursion”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

This was a day trip for us and we rented golf carts and drove the island. Really some amazing views and very local people away from the resorts. Can be touristy but you can drive through parts of real mexico you cant get on teh strip.

“Fun Day Trip While in Cancun”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

Only a 30 min ferry cruise from Cancun and $17 round trip per person, this is a great way to spend part of a day. Don't go through a service - this trip is easy on your own. Rent a golf cart as soon as you dock and explore this small island. There's a turtle farm ($3 each) which is interesting, but the best is at the southern tip of the island at the ruins of Temple Ixchel. Here you have unbelievable views and pounding surf, plus dozens of iguanas running around the statue of a giant iguana. Oh yeah, it's another $3 each. Cheap fun!

“Wow!”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

Absolutely beautiful location to visit. You can either pay a tour with the guides available or take the general boat to go to Isla Mujeres. If you get a guide they take you to various locations. If you go on the general boat you go straight to Isla Mujeres. Great food, affordable souvenirs, breath taking view, and best of all, really nice people.
