Excellent Al Pastor and the best flan we had in Merida. Located close to Hyatt, Ibis, Fiesta Americana hotels. However, dont expect the waiters to speak or understand other than Mexican Spanish. I tried to ask if they were open for lunch in my broken spanish "Abierto Manana Comida?" so I could go back the next day and have the Al Pastor again and he said a confident "Si". Much to my dismay , the place was closed for lunch the next day.:)

A cool restaurant to enjoy "al Pastor" meat in Merida... we were up to Argentinian food but didn't found the place, another option was the "Tacos Arabes" but we ended up here for the traditional "sopa de lima" that by the way was excellent!!! and have our first encounter with "Tornillos" that are some sort of burritos but not rolled but the tortilla folded as a cone (the shape of a screw) filled with "al pastor" meat with a little bit of lettuce and a slice of tomato as garnish... everything else was in the table as a form of sauce... friendly service and good price, the waiter even describe me the process and ingredients of sauces and their amazing "sopa de lima" / lime soup..

I have visited Merida many times and driven by Las Jirafas many times but did not go there until a few days ago upon agreeing to meet with some friends there. The setting is typically Mexican, what someone would expect travelling to a Mexican resort town, but endearing. The price of the food was very economical and you received alot of food. My husband was hungry and ordered a large burrito and had to take half of it home. I was not very hungry so only ordered the pazole soup and two tacos pastor but barely had room to eat the two large tacos after the large soup. To make the experience that much better, my friend used his coupon from the City Passport coupon book to receive 30% off of our whole table's check! It is not a high class restaurant, but certainly worth going to if you are looking for reasonably priced traditional Yucatecan food. We will return (and we will use our coupon too!). There are three different locations in Merida - one on Paseo de Montejo, one in Fracionamiento de Montejo, and one in Ycalpeten.
