“WOW!!!”
Reviewed 16 January 2013

A thoughtful local reccomended Galeria Merida to me, assisting in my search for "that perfect piece". I couldn't go wrong here as the selections were vast and beautiful. Do not miss the upstairs. It is like a museum. I couldn't believe some of the pieces, works of art!
The prices upstairs are understandably much higher then downstairs. They did come down in price for me, but I had to sob like a baby!!

“Fantastic atmosphere! See the murals in Palacio el Gobierno!”
Reviewed 23 March 2012

Merida is one of my favorite cities! It av a range of different atmospheres within the city. The busy market, the nice and calm museums and the fantastic park - the hearth of the city.
My favorite buildning beside the Cathedral - is Palacio el Gobierno! This house is so nice, and you can walk into the courtyard and feel the atmosphere from the good old days ;-) And this official building is also decorated with fantastic murals from Mexicos history (as many of Mexicos official houses). The artist Fernando Castro Pachenco used his whole life to make murals from Yucatans history, his murals gives lively impressions from the slavery and Yucatans bloody history. And the room where the murals are presented have a fantastic atmosphere. I have traveled to Merida 7 times, and I am always visiting this house! ...and I will be back. I am enclosing this youtube video for you to watch: Its from Palacio el Gobierno, The Cathedral (always wonderful), The park on a sunday (lovely), a tour with the horse and wagon around the city and down Paso de Montejo (is a must.), Then the Panchos, the best restaurant in town, even though its a bit touristic its a really fun place. Funky atmosphere, and good food, excellent staff! We love it. Good view from the roof terasse - se the cathedral with lights at night. The video have some clips from Panchos as well. Enjoy; http://youtu.be/5-1arnGj0kUMerida!

“Mexico's best kept art secret”
Reviewed 11 April 2008

While vising Merida, we happened on an incredible art gallery - Galeria Merida. The quality of the art work and talent of the artists has to be Mexico's best kept secret.
The owner of the gallery is extremely knowledable about art and choses only the very finest artists to represent.
The pieces, whether paintings, drawings and prints, sculpture, photographs, or multimedia, are all original works and done by Yucatecos.
The works in this gallery of contemporary art are of museum quality and for the serious collector, while the prices are extremely affordable.
If you are an art lover, this gallery is a must to visit.
