I very much enjoyed staying here, really felt like that was my home in Merida. Enrique and Miriam are very nice, helpful and friendly people trying to make their guests like home. Good location, nice rooms, spacious inside courtyard and teracces. Do recommend.

My daughter and I were taking in the sights of the Yucatan and had booked a two week stay in another hotel in Merida. After the first week the hotel attempted to relocate us to Casa Alvarez for a single night due to their over booking. When we went to check out Casa Alvarez we immediately decided to move from the hotel and relocate for the entire second week to this charming guest house.
The casa is located on a busy street but the rooms are removed enough that they are very quiet. We even kept our large windows open through the night without ever being disturbed.
The owners Enrique and Miriam (brother and sister) live on the premises and are always available to assist you (with a smile).
We occupied a very spacious room on the ground floor with large windows and a generous size bathroom. There is no airconditioning in this room but there is a ceiling fan. Also note that though breakfast is not served you do have access to a fully equiped kitchen.
The location is excellent and the decor just charming. I have attached photos as testimonial to this charming and inviting guesthouse.

I loved this hotel. Simple, immaculate rooms with a lovely patio. The hosts are charming and a pleasure to see at the beginning or end of the day. It is a great location, walking distance to most of the sights.

I stayed at the Merida Hyatt over the New Year. Casa Alvarez was so much more comfortable and inviting.

This was our second stay at Casa Alvarez, and I didn't think it was possible for the family that owns it to make our stay any more enjoyable than the first, but they pulled it off in grand style. If you want to stay in a place where you are treated as though you are part of the family, this is it. Here are some of the things you'll notice immediately. Since it is a guesthouse, and the owners live there, it is spotless. The locks on the doors and the keys are color coordinated for ease of use. To clarify, the owner has an outer set of doors, a small entry foyer, and then an inner set of doors, which are both locked after dark for your peace of mind. All of that security isn't necessary, for this city has one of the lowest crime rates in the entire country of Mexico, but again, it is all about how considerate these folks are about their desire to make you completely comfortable. This is, without a doubt, the quietest place we have ever stayed, and it is convenient to all types of entertainment, dining, and shopping. In addition they provide personalized assistance in the booking of tours and local attraction suggestions. Please don't pass up the chance to experience the comfort, warmth, and kindness this guesthouse offers.
