“Nice environment, good food”

For good fresh pasta and wood-oven baked pizza in Merida, don't miss Rescoldos; prices are very accessible, very good service. The cool evenings are perfect for the courtyard tables.

“A find indeed.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

The typical street in the historic center of Merida, Yucatan is certainly aged, often colorful, and sometimes rather non-descript; especially with the entrance doors to a particular address closed. Passing by Rescoldos, then, is astonishing as you peer inside this artsy bistro north of the main plaza. The creative use of the space lures you in to the outdoor dining area with the soothing fountain and cool music piped in. We both had pasta offerings, ravioli and lasagna from the menu and the pepper hummus with pita wedges for dipping. An Italian food purist can debate the merits of this particular adaptation of pasta at Rescoldos; the pasta is, well, bread-like in texture. We ate it all, though. The pepper hummus I give special mention. This "appetizer" was nearly sufficient as a meal in itself. The meal for two with appetizer, entrees, and drinks came to $455 Pesos. For my daughter and I, the most expensive meal on our recent visit to Merida.

“Best pizza in Merida!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014 via mobile

My brother and his partner took me to Rescoldos twice during my recent visit to Merida, and both times it was absolutely delicious. We sat in the courtyard which is very pleasant. Service is excellent, and the pizzas, which are cooked in the wood fired oven, are truly the best. I enjoyed every bite and can not wait until my next visit. The desserts are delicious and decadent. You must eat at Rescoldos!

“Great food in lovely setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014 via mobile

The courtyard was quiet and intimate with a lovely fountain. The waitstaff was friendly. The food was excellent. The ingredients were fresh. The pasta was perfectly prepared. The pizza and calzone had the perfect balance of soft dough surrounded by a crispy crust that comes from their wood burning oven. We would have returned a second time in our 4 day visit to Merida, but it was closed on Mondays.
