I was doubting my decision to stay at IBIS Merida after my disappointment at IBIS Cancun but this location knows what it really takes to uphold the Accor hospitality.

I stayed here 3 days to explore the colonial town of Merida. I know there are many smaller hotels in town that are cheaper but I wanted to stay at IBIS because of my loyalty and also to be able to explore Paseo de Montejo.

From check-in to check-out everything was delightful. All the staff members were amazing to work with. Claudia, Nemecio, Juan Jose to name a few. They made several calls to places, found details about things, guided me etc. Amazing!

The rooms were clean and comfortable although the shower lacked pressure. The pillows and towels were clean and replaced daily. I ate breakfast here a couple of days and it was decent. I walked in this neighborhood even at 12 in the night and I felt completely safe. A taxi to the center of town is about 50 pesos and if you don't mind taking a collectivo, there are plenty on Paseo de Montejo.

They don't have a pool. I paid 125 pesos to use the pool at Fiesta Americana which is a few blocks from IBIS.

All in all, an amazing stay in Merida! I highly recommend this business hotel.

I have stayed at the Ibis Hotel 2 times now. My first experience had its hiccups but I decided to give it a second chance... and I sort of regret that decision after all. Here are the pros and cons, this way you will know what you are getting into:

Pros:
- Great location nearby Paseo Montejo.
- Free parking inside hotel.
- Super comfy bed and pillows.
- Affordable price.

Cons:

- 1st visit. Air con was leaking and because of that most of the bathroom roof was covered with mold, this was in room 559.
- 2nd visit. Fire alarm would activate for no reason, this happened 2 times at night in my room while I was sleeping, it was really hard to go back to sleep after that... This happened in room 657.
- Walls are extremely thin, you can hear a lot that is going on on the adjacent rooms, especially when the cleaning service is being done.
- Rooms are smallish.

Judge for yourself... as for me I don't think I will be staying at Ibis Merida again.

Extra tip: I found the best price through booking.com

its not a 5 star but you definitely get what you paid for. plus its located right in the heart of the city near everything walking distance. doesnt have a pool or fitness center, but if you're in this town you're not there for the pool or to workout, get out and around to really get to know the town.

My son and I spent a few days in Merida, Mexico in order to see the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza and Uxmal. We stayed at the Ibis Merida.

- The rooms are functional but not luxurious. They are bigger than expected, and everything worked fine.

- The hotel is located 2-3 miles north of the city center. Taxi fare to the city is 40-60 pesos. The hotel will call a taxi when you need one.

- The restaurant at the hotel serves breakfast, dinner, and snacks. The breakfast buffet (95 pesos) is adequate with several local dishes each day. Dinner is OK when you do not feel like eating in the city center or in a restaurant near the hotel (only a few choices locally).

- The hotel can arrange tours to Chichen Itza and Uxmal. Tours include hotel pick-up and lunch.

- The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Their English is good.

- Free wi-fi is available throughout the hotel.

- There is a Banamex bank branch nearby with an ATM.

If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay while visiting the Mayan ruins, Ibis Merida is a good choice.

The stay at Ibis Merida has been very comfortable. We stayed here 3 nights and were a bit concerned about noises as other posts describe, but we didn't hear anything. It is located in a quite residential neighborhood and a couple of minutes walk to main streets. The staff is very friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. Its an economy hotel catering to business travelers with small rooms but the hotel was neat and clean and the staff ensured guests had a pleasant stay. They helped make phone calls to tour companies and other cities at no charge from the lobby. Wi-fi was working as well.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor perhaps to avoid any street level noises, if any. But the elevator could be sl...
