“Not the expected standard of a Holiday Inn.”
Reviewed 23 January 2013 via mobile

We stayed only two nights as part of a tour of the Yucatan Peninsula. The room was nice - on the second night the guest above us had a dog in the room and we could hear it barking/ yapping and walking around on the tiled floor.
Okay - so we could have complained but we were checking out anyway.
The hotel in general looks like it needs a serious refurb.
And finally the breakfast service offered was poor. Limited choice.
Would we go back? No.
Location was okay though - nice 20 minute walk from the town centre.

Nothing to complain about this hotel. Of course I'd love to have more options for breakfast, but since it's complimentary I'd be a cynic. It's a brand new facility and it shows, rooms are very comfortable and our bed seemed to be right out of the box. Beware though: they don't have a minibar for you.
There's a big plaza nearby and the amazing mayan museum at walk distance. Location couldn't be better if you want to visit this museum, and in my humble opinion YOU SHOULD.

I have never stayed at this actual hotel, I prefer the more off the beaten path hotels in Merida. However, I never miss a chance for breakfast at La Veranda located inside. They have breads baked in house that cannot be beat. My wife is from Uruguay and a pastry snob and she will not allow a trip to Merida to go by without at least one visit to La Veranda.

The bread however is just the beginning, they have a breakfast buffet that will please both those looking for traditional Mexican fare as well as making your typical American feel at home with just good old scrambled eggs and bacon. They are however, always making to order huevos rancheros, huevos ala mexicana, panuchos, etc... There is also a very nice selection of fresh fruits and yogurts.

In short, you cannot go wrong with breakfast at La Veranda as they have great quality food that caters to just about any taste.

My husbadn and I stayed here for one night and were pretty happy with our stay overall. The staff was very friendly (especially the bellboys) and our room was spacious and pretty. I loved the bed! So cozy and such comfortable pillows, just like every other Holiday Inn. The bathroom was also nicer than most hotel bathroom's I've seen in Mexico. I was excited to see a decent bathtub.

The location was also great, right by Paseo de Montejo. My husband and I enjoyed walking around the nearby streets to see the historic mansions.

My main complaint (and it's a small one) is that while many aspects of the hotel look new and modern, there are some areas that need updating, like the closets, doors, hallways and especially the elevators. I also thought it was a bit strange that breakfast wasn't included, mainly because so many hotels include breakfast nowadays.

If you need to be near Paseo de Montejo for business or an event, I'd recommend this hotel. However, if you're in Merida for leisure, I'd recommend staying in a hotel with more character in the "centro" area.

Room Tip: Stay away from the top floor rooms! (4th floor) We were hearing very strange machine noises the enti...

Large hotel, located away from the town centre. We had a lovely, large, spotless room, with 2 double, comfortable beds and a choice of pillows if necessary. The bathroom was spacious and clean. There was a balcony, but the view over the parking lot was unimpressive!

Breakfast was adequate.

There is a very large american style supermarket across the road which was handy for stocking up on memory cards and chocolate!

We spent nearly a week here while my husband attended a conference (held in the hotel). It was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. It isn't a luxury hotel, but it suited us very well. The only drawback to this and the other nearby hotels (including the Hyatt) was the distance from the centre of the city. It is about a 40 minute walk, not to be recommended in the August heat. Fortunately taxis are cheap, and the hotel would call for one for you - they usually arrived immediately. The rooms didn't have a fridge although there was ice available, and we couldn't be bothered brewing coffee (no instant coffee was available - filter coffee machines seemed to be common in Mexican hotels.). We didn't bother with breakfast (not included in the tarrif) because there is a large supermarket directly opposite the hotel where you could buy yogurt, iced coffee etc.

Room Tip: Some rooms had open balconies.

Stayed for 2 nights.

It is well located close to Paseo de Montejo.

The rooms were big but clearly outdated.
The breakfast was really boring and the staff obviously exhausted by the hard work.

The hotel corridors were always dirty and there was garbage that would stay in the same spot for days if i did not pick it up...

There much better options for staying in Merida and i definitely will not stay in this hotel again.
