This building has such a history to it and the courtyard is so beautiful it just added to the hirtorical buildings around it. Even the location of the pool and the view off the deck there was a tad impressive, esp. at night. I couldn't help but think of the nuns who lived in these rooms years ago.
Caribe hotel's location can't be beat, with a nice park right out the door where you'll find people selling homemade blouses, jewelry etc without being pushy. There are a few restaurants adjacent to the park where you can sit outside and eat or have a drink. They close off the east street (calle 59?) around 10pm on Fri and Sat evenings for tables with restaurant service (and dancing) until around 2 am and Sunday mornings for the bicyclists that take over the streets. The location directly around the hotel is relaxing, fun and safe, with a large policia presence. Bring a book and sit in the park. Go across the street and have a beer in the open air restaurant and people watch. This hotel was perfect for me. Only negative was my asthma couldn't handle the cleaning solutions. Staff cleaned anyway, after I left the "do not disturb" sign on the door and notified the front desk the night before. Oh well. Next time I'll leave a recording of a Doberman near the door!
Without a doubt, I would stay here again.
