PROs: the location of the hotel is great, very close to the town centre and the main sights. The hotel itself is a nice building, full of character with a lovely small courtyard and pool area. The staff are very friendly and helpful - booking our day trip to Uxmal for us.

CONs: we were in room 1 right by reception and unfortunately this room doesn't have windows, only small roof lights which made it very dark and by the end of our 4 night stay quite oppressive to be in (if we'd known at the time of booking we definitely wouldn't have booked it). Because we were so close to reception it was quite noisy and on our last night we were woken up at 4am by the arrival of a tour group checking in. The wifi didn't work in our room, and the air conditioning unit was so noisy that we couldn't sleep with it on at night.

Overall, I'd say this is a nice hotel with very nice staff. If we'd been in a different room I'm sure we'd have had nothing but praise for it. If you're staying there just make sure you ask them for a room with a window or otherwise stay in the main Hacienda hotel next door.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a window away from reception and try and avoid room 1.

Behind the beautifully restored colonial facade lies a gem of a boutique hotel! Behind the big wood doors lies a wonderful surprise, a big reception area with nice decorations, a hallway with colonial styled arches, a swimming pool over the length of the garden. At the front of the hotel is the traditional tiled Mexican kitchen. The staff and owner were very helpful during our stay, always trying to give personal suggestions. The room we had was large and comfortable, breakfast was good and the location of the hotel is very central. We loved our stay!

Room Tip: Our room at the back of the hotel was very comfortable and quiet

We loved staying at the Hotel Hacienda Merida. It was super calm and the owner and staff were there to answer our every question and provide us with as many margaritas as we could consume. We were in town for a wedding and thus unable to spend tons of time at the hotel...but we absolutely loved the sophisticated decor, location and perfect service. We also enjoyed the breakfast and lunch served poolside. From what I can tell, this is the best place to stay in Merida, especially if you want to be in town, within walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

Room Tip: Our room actually didn't have windows, only skylights (Room 1). It worked for us because we were...

Beautiful hacienda in the old town of Merida. The rooms are sophisticated, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. The interior decor of the entire hotel is out of this world. There is a lovely patio and terrace and small swimming pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is good. Perfect for honeymooners.
