“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 14 December 2008

I loved staying at the Medio Mundo hotel. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. The gardens and pool area are beautiful. The rooms are very large with huge walk in showers. My only complaint about this hotel is the lack of window treatments on some of the windows. Hard to sleep in! If you manage to get a non-AC room during the winter, this hotel is a very good value.

This hotel gets nothing but rave reviews. There is good reason for that.
I noticed that some of the other reviewers have recommended it for families with small children. This seems odd since they don't not permit guests under the age of 12. Their web site is quite clear on this policy. This policy played a role in my decision to book here. Perhaps you're looking for the same type of peaceful experience? If so, this hotel provides a tranquil escape from the noise of Merida city.
The staff is wonderful. You'll feel right at home. All this, and a central location. What more could you ask for?

We stayed just for one night in this beautiul hotel. .Because of the cheerful colour you can´t miss the hotel.

After a warm welcome the receptionist showed us two nice rooms in different price categories. The cheaper one was without airco but had a fan which was definitely enough to keep the room cool.

The breakfast is not included, but you definitely should go for it.
For about 80 Pesos you get fresh fruit salad, fruit juice, coffee or tea and a variety of breads, marmelade, cheese, salami and ham.

We recommend this location especially because of its relaxing atmosphere (very nice patio and nice pool) and its more than friendly staff. We felt like at home.

My husband & I stayed this summer (the end of July 2008) as well as last year with our teen-age daughter & will keep going back to Medio Mundo for many reasons.

The location is convenient to the town square & it's a short taxi ride to the bus station to take day trips to Uxmal or the beach of Progresso. The staff is quick to offer any assistance in getting around, finding a great place to eat or even shop.

In the morning, you have the choice of having an amazing breakfast of fresh fruits, juices, breads/rolls, cold cuts/cheeses or going out to a local eatery. We always took our breakfast at the hotel around the swimming pool with the ever attentive staff keeping an eye on our needs. Why venture out when everything we wanted was there?

The hotel is beautifully restored, really like a quiet tropical oasis in the "big city". Rooms are large and the hotel ambiance reflects its peaceful history of being "home" to a former convent. You'll find the air conditioning is cool without being noisy & the little "boutique" in the hotel office is where we bought many of our unique gifts.

In fact we contacted Nicole thru email & purchased a Guatamalen blanket we regrettably did not purchase prior to leaving. Nicole was awesome in getting our blanket to us in less than a week!

Love, love, love the kind owners & staff of Medio Mundo!!! We cannot wait to return :)

Great, great service!

We stayed in a lovely room on the second floor overlooking a delightfully constructed garden and rockery.

The service was oustanding- gracious, helpful and they even taught me Spanish!

Highly recommended.

We have just returned from a family (ages ranging from 15-54) tour of the Yucatan, with 3 nights spent at the Medio Mundo. The hotel was exemplary - great breakfast, very pleasant rooms, good pool, and wonderful, friendly and generous service. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of spending time in Merida.
