We could not have been happier with Casa Lecanda....from the minute we walked thru the front door and were greeted by the lovely staff and set eyes upon the lush courtyard, we were smitten....only to be topped by our beautifully appointed balcony room. With only 7 rooms, Casa Lecanda makes you feel truly special....the breakfast (included) is a lovely continental offering with fresh fruits and juices all served poolside....we are going to recommend Casa Lecanda to everyone we know. the owner, Stefano, has a keen eye for design and detail....it's a great hotel in a great city.

The only damaging thing I can say is when driving up to that street, there is litter everywhere, sidewalks are broken with huge holes and I started worrying what kind of neglected neighborhood this is. But, when the doors opened into the beautiful set courtyard with lush foliage and I was shown our room on the main level further back I was in awe. So lovely kept, tile work amazing, bathroom very nice with the exception that they did not fit any towel racks by the shower and there was just a small soap dispenser area, much too far away to reach, when showering, not very well planned out by the architect. Other than that, personal very accommodating, but they should be more professionally trained, always forget something, either the sugar, the cream, salt, etc.
I would stay there again in the hope that the street is swept at least in front of the hotel at all times. At those prices it should. Also the coffee was terrible, they need to get a much better brand!
We were not greeted with champagne. They should really provide more drinking water at the bed, this very small bottle is barely enough to brush your teeth.

Room Tip: Our room was on the left walking trough the court yard, main level, old building, last room on stree...

Lecanda is a small guesthouse in a secluded street. Once you step inside, it's been said before, you enter into a beautiful courtyard with adjoining rooms. Everything is very tastefully decorated and very clean. We had the balcony room (Lucia); which was great. Wonderful breakfast and great service. The owner of Lecanda has just started a small Italian restaurant (3 tables!) only two blocks away. Very delicious and surprising. We were the weekend in Merida and enjoyed various performances by bands and dance groups on different squares.
Recommended.

I had been planning my trip to Casa Lecanda for nearly a year, it was so sweet to finally arrive and see it in person.

We arrived late and were shown to our room quickly. After a long hot day of travel, the room was a welcome refuge! Beautiful flowers, iced champagne and a freshly drawn bath strewn with rose petals. (The bathtub is HUGE.) Our room was a garden view, Elia. The AC quickly cooled the room down and ceiling fans were great to keep the air moving. Our room had a sitting area with two chairs and a small table. The armoire holds 2 small areas for hanging clothes as well as a tv, mini fridge and small safe. The bathroom was behind the armoire and was beautiful. Rain shower head was really good and never had a shortage of hot water. The tub was almost too big to fill and would have held several people.

The included continental breakfast was ample for us most days, consisting of a lovely basket of toast and sweet breads, orange juice, coffee and a fruit with yogurt parfait. The other breakfast selections were reasonably priced and the 2 others I tried were very nice. Service was always prompt and friendly.

The room attendants were so sweet and did an amazing job; our room was spotless!

Enjoyed a drink at the bar most nights and always had wonderful service and good conversation. Tried some mescal and tequila's that aren't readily available here at home.

The pool is small, cool and well maintained. The series of courtyards were lovely, there were beautiful views no matter which way you looked. The tiled floors were fab and the furniture was comfy. Beautiful plantings. It evoked a feeling of luxury. I did have to watch my step going from each area of the courtyard to the next as there was a step or two involved.

There was always someone available at the front office to call a taxi or answer any questions, and they spoke English! I don't believe we asked anything of them that they said no to.

Before the stay I had extensive communications with the hotel to make arrangements for my stay. We booked a package with them, the Chocolate Experience. It was in connection with Los Dos cooking school. The package was well done and well coordinated from the airport pickup, to our various outings, and through the rest of the week. They happily let us add on some extra nights to the package.

Many other guests seemed to stay only overnight, that would have been SO sad! We stayed a week and could have easily stayed there longer. One day we never left the property until going out for dinner that evening! Try to stay more than 1 night, so worth it, in my opinion.

This was my first trip to Merida and my only hotel experience, but it Is hard to imagine another hotel topping Casa Lecanda. Loved it, loved it, loved it!!

Room Tip: The Garden view room is worth the extra money.

Visited here with my wife on honeymoon for three nights. This hotel was redeveloped several years ago from a state of dilapidation (I saw the photos) and I must say they have done a fantastic job. We stayed in the balcony room at the end on the right (is it Gloria? Can't remember). The room had high ceilings and was very clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful, the margaritas are very tasty and the hotel really is an oasis of calm inside this bustling and dusty city. You could happily remain here every day without leaving. We loved it.

Couple fo things to note: hotel does serve breakfast (very good) but not dinner. Although a cooking class is available. And make sure you take a map as the taxis won't know where it is, and the front is very unprepossessing.

We spent 4 nights at Casa Lecanda earlier this month and enjoyed every minute of our time there. The location is excellent, giving access to the historic center of the colonial city and also a straight route to the modern city. The hotel is beautiful. A swimming pool offers a cool refresher after a day of hiking, site seeing, or cooking school at Los Dos. The continental breakfast and the wine bar begin and end the day within the charming setting of the hotel. Hotel staff were ever-present and always helpful. It's a well-run hotel, conveniently located and offering a soothing, restful place to stay in Merida.
