This is the bus that takes people from the cruise ships into Merida. However, we used it to get from Merida to Progresso and had nothing to do with the cruise ships. It was a nice and VERY cheap way to get back and forth. Much better than renting a car. Highly recommend. We even had free wi-fi (in one direction, broken on way back).

We took a cruise for Christmas and spent Christmas Eve in Progreso. I was told there isn’t really a lot to do there so we didn’t have many expectations. We walked through the market and planned to just go back to the ship when we saw a free bus to downtown Progreso. We got on and went to explore the city. When we arrived Fernando boarded our bus and told us about several excursions we could take if we were interested. We got off the bus and talked to someone about the Cenote. Beautiful swimming holes underground and in a cave. I was nervous about the drive because they told us it was an hour and 20 minutes to the first location, but was assured we would get back to the ship no later than 3:00. The drive was anything but boring. We had music and a tour through several cities led by our tour guide Fernando who was AMAZING! Our driver Tomás scared the pants off of us a few times but I think that’s just the way they all drive there. We were able to go through the state’s capital and some Mayan cities and learn about the history. The first Cenote was underground and some of the clearest spring water I’ve ever seen! We spent about 30 minutes swimming and snorkeling (which they provided the gear) and headed to the next. The next Cenote was in a cave. We were able to swim into the cave wit Fernando leading the way. The water here is a TINY bit cooler so we didn’t stay and swim, but headed back up to eat lunch. We had the Poc-Chu (pork), It was delicious. 2 beers or 2 sodas were included for the price as well as the lunch. $45 for adults and $35 for the kids. My 10 and 13 year olds (girls) loved it. Totally worth the $160 price tag and something we’d never have done otherwise. So glad we made the decision to take this excursion. Thank you Fernando for the trip of a lifetime!

We chose the combo tour to get a little taste of everything. I kind of expected with so much to do, time would be short, which it was. We were taken to the flea market at the bus terminal and had to wait an hour for our tour to depart. If I have any complaints about this tour, it would be that. That hour could have given us enough time to do the tour without the rush. We went to the ruins first. Our guide Ivan, was very knowledgeable and hilarious. He is very passionate about what he does and made us feel part of his familia. He gave us a lot of history and told us stories about the Mayans. After his talk, we had 45 minutes to swim in the cenote and tour on our own. Back on the bus, we drove to Merida where we had a nice lunch and a quick walking tour. Overall, a great day with a great guide. Again, that extra hour could have been helpful in the beginning.

We, a family of 5, arrived at the Progresso port from our carnival cruise and took a bus titled "aut progreso" into town. When we arrived our bus driver described all kinds of excursions they offere in case we were interested. Carnival had canceled many excursions at our last port due to weather and because of that all of their progreso excursions had been booked so we were very interested in this. We chose an excursion that includes swimming in two different cenotes one open and one a cave, also including an authentic Mayan lunch. The drive was about and hour and a half from progreso but our tour guide Fernando made it seem much less long. We got to see the city of Merida, the capital, as well as the Mayan country side. At the first cenote we were given goggles and snorkels and an area to change. This one was open to the sky but was still quite the climb down. We were allowed 40 mins to swim here. This was the bluest prettiest water I have ever seen in my life! This cenote even had a rope swing and an area to dive off of. We left this one for another that was about 10 mins away. The second was more of a tourist area and included the Mayan restaurant and even Wi-Fi. We ordered our food, had some Mayan tea then made our way down into the cave. This staircase down was much steeper and a little scary but just go slow and it is so worth it once you get down there! We were all provided life jackets and Fernando got in with us to guide us through the cave. Yes there were bats, but they just minded their own business. We swam for maybe 30 mins here but most of us were so hungry we went back up for food. The food was so good and we were provided two drinks beer or soda. The women that worked there also sold a few handmade goods. If you didn't speak Spanish, Fernando was able to communicate to the women working there so there was never any confusion. This trip was half the price of anything carnival offered and we traveled with a great driver David, great tour guide Fernando, all in an air conditioned tour van with music. For about $45 a person I would do it again and again. This company also offered many other excursions. If you are not feeling adventurous they had an all inclusive beach front with drinks and food. Give them a try on your next trip to Progreso!

Booked this excursion for our Dec cruise. Figured it would be a great educational experience. The guide was friendly and informative but rushed. The whole tour at Dzibulchaltun was rushed. Which I can understand since we still had the Merida City tour to do. The tour of Dzibulchaltun was nice and we did enjoy it. Once we got to Merida is were it all went wrong. The tour guide decided to separate our group and we got stuck in the town square. We stated in the square for at least 45 mins or so. Yes the square is nice but I paid for the city tour which we did not get. When back at the port I spoke to our guide about my disappoint and he was rude and told me just to come back again. Will not use this company again.
