After 17 hours of travel from western Canada to Merida, all our weariness and tensions dissipated when we arrived at the centrally located Luz en Yucatan. We were escorted to our room, offered an icy cold beer, provided with with information about nearby restaurants and sights, and made to feel at home.
This is a clean and friendly, quirky little hotel. You won't find anything "standard" here. There is a small pool, common kitchen with coffee brewing in the morning, a complimentary drinks cart with a great "house" tequila - and a hammock with hooks that enable a lovely swing in your unique room! All at a reasonable price, with the nicest and most helpful staff. The location is great, with many good restaurants and ares of interest nearby. I would stay here for weeks if I could. Thanks to the lovely folks at Luz!More
