“Great people-watching!”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

this restaurant / outdoor cafe is consistently good and reasonable, and though the name is a little mundane, the location on the Plaza and the variety of food makes up for it!

“Looks great, but overall it was pretty average”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

There is no doubting the location. Main Street is right on a leafy square just to the north of the Zocalo, with a lovely view across to the adjacent church. There are also a lot of outside tables to enjoy the outdoor experience. So we chose to eat here one night and soon learned that looks can be deceiving. The food was very average and over-priced, and I thought our waiter was a bit brash and full of himself. I can't say anything bad about the place, it's just that it did not meet our expectations.

“SO SO :(”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

The food was just ok. I ate mine but my husband did not like his at all. We had 2 entrees, cheesed dip, my boy split a pizza, and 4 drinks and it was $75 :/ We could have had the same thing but better tasting here at home for $45! Won't eat there again!

“Why did I bother....”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

I've passed by this place over the past three years and finally we tried it out.
Instead my meal was over cooked, soaking in water and it tasted awefulI. The rest of the five meals were also bland. The wait for service considering not many people were there extended into the rediculous. Even for Mexico standards... To end it on a high note ( sarcasim) the waiter tried to hide his tip so that he got paid double.
Our group was most disappointed....we visited 2-24-14

“"Leisure alfresco dining in the park"”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

A delightful cafe restaurant on the Pargue de Hidgalo at the Grand Hotel de Merida and a perfect place for leisure dining and people watching. This is not gourmet food but casual dining and a fun time is always a good experience. It was a Friday evening and the park was very busy. As we tend to dine earlier than most people in Mexico there was no problem getting a table.
The service was attentive without being pushy. Cocktail orders were quick to arrive and our food was served nice and hot. They started us with complimentary guacamole, freshly made salsa and tortilla chips.
My friend ordered the panuchos ( a native dish of the Yucatan served four to an order) and I had the lasanga which was really quite good and was accompanied by some fresh garlic bread.
Their cappucino was a perfect way to round out the dinner and continue people watching and enjoying the ambiance of the outsdoor cafe before heading off to a performance of the Yucatan Symphony.
We will most likely return for another enjoyable evening or perhaps lunch.
