We learned of Cascadas through Tripadvisor: and what a find! Everything about Cascadas is wonderful. it was built by our host, Chucho on the site where he grew up and where his grandparents lived. it is beautifully designed: the four casitas are attractive, comfortable, well-appointed with all the mod cons, very quiet, and spotlessly clean. The casadas are attractive and the sound is soothing and fresh. Ellyne, our hostess, is amazing. She made us feel like guests in her home (which we were). Ellyne is a font of knowledge about everything and very generous about sharing her advice and assistance in planning where to eat, and where to go, and what to see, and Yucatan and Maya history and custom, and etc etc. The breakfasts are THE BEST - pitchers of fresh orange juice, lots of cut up fresh fruit and mango yoghurt and good tasting granola and frijoles and eggs and typical delicious cooked local specialities. Nine days (Dec 29 - Jan 7) were not enough: There is so much to see and do in Merida and then to have Cascadas as our base ... Fabulous!!!! My husband and i had not been to Merida in more than 50 years. Why didn't we return sooner??!!?
