I could feel the warmth and professionalism of Ellyne from the first contact through email and i was not disappointed once i arrived at Cascadas de Merida. This, being my first experience in a B & B, i wasn't sure if i would like it and i absolutely loved it. I was here on business but it really felt like a vacation, Ellyne made sure that i was OK and if i wanted anything at all to count on her or her husband Chucho . I met some wonderful people here and everything was as described and actually it looked better than i expected , the cascades in the shower are absolutely beautiful. As for the breakfast , as Ellyne warned me the night before ,,, make sure you are hungry,,,, she meant it , nothing was missing and there was so much food and soooooo good. I stayed only 2 nights at Cascadas de Merida but whenever i go back for business , there is no more hotel for me in Merida , they really mean it when they say : Mi casa es su Casa. Thank you Ellyne and Chucho.

Claude

I spent 2 nights at the Cascadas de Merida following a week of fly fishing in Campeche. After a week on the water entering the Cascadas de Merida was a welcome and soothing retreat from the elements. Upon entering I felt like a welcomed guest as you are surrounded by beautiful painted wall murals and striking stone architectural detail over the pool and within the rooms. Cascades de Merida is truly designed for the comfort of guests and I felt very welcomed by Ellyne who clearly aims to make her guests feel this way. The pool is nothing short of a spa experience following a morning at the market, I simply wish I had more days to stay and enjoy this wonderful retreat. The location is excellent, the rooms are large, and the substantial breakfast is excellent. I plan on returning to the region and I look forward to another stay at Cascadas de Merida.

The highlight of an annual trip to the Yucatan is our visit to Cascadas de Merida. Combining the best of an upscale bed and breakfast with those of a small hotel, its location allows us to walk to local restaurants and attractions. It has lovely, comfortable rooms and a sumptuous breakfast (no stale croissants and cold coffee here!). By far, the most fun has been getting to know the owners, Ellyne and Chucho. They're so much fun to be with, and they keep up with what's happening in town. They can provide advice and experiences that would challenge the most seasoned hotel concierge. We've experienced great local eateries and fine dining; a wonderful museum we never would have found on our own; a visit to a farm; on-site yoga. What more could we ask? (And you get a real full-size bar of soap in your shower!)

Room Tip: Cascadas has four large rooms around a pool. All of them are lovely

It will be hard to top our beautiful stay at Cascadas de Merida! We were welcomed to our lovely stay by Ellyne , a most welcoming and gracious hostess. The house is beautifully furnished, warm and inviting with the true feel of being in the Yucatan, though the city is right outside the door!
Our room was just delightfully perfect, spotless, colorful and provided every needed amenity (TV, A/C, safe), complete with waterfalls from the window out of our bath and shower. Our bed was so comfortable, and if we wanted to take a quick dip and cool down from the heat, the crystal clear pool was right outside our door in the courtyard! The plentiful and delicious breakfast nobody can top.....we felt like we were guests visiting our family! Ellyne & Chucho couldn't have been more wonderful, informative and genuine, offering us terrific suggestions about activities NOT to miss, or where to enjoy an authentic Mayan meal and experience the sights, flavors and spirit of this historic city! We will miss our new family in Merida!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Cascadas de Merida. Right from our late evening arrival to the minute of our departure, Ellyne and Chucho were the consummate hosts. It seemed Ellyne could not do enough for us. The breakfasts were terrific, plenty of yogurt, granola, fresh fruit and buns and pastry - to start. Then the hot breakfasts came which were quite good. Our room was clean and tastefully appointed. The pool and deck area were a good place to "hang out" or to jump into after an afternoon of walking around El Centro. We very much appreciated the degree of concern, attention and assistance that Ellyne gave us when we asked one of our 1001 questions. When my wife came down with an illness, Ellyne went the extra MILES, to help us. If all New Yorkers are like Ellyne, then we want to visit there, too.

....my only complaint was that we didn't have more time to spend in this lovely oasis! The location is great, the facilities second to none (nice job, Chucho!)....Ellyne and staff are so amazing, it's almost like staying in a friend's home. The breakfast was outstanding...and how about those drinks by the pool!?! Couldn't ask for more......except more time, that is! Treat yourself.....you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: You can't get a bad room here.....they are equally wonderful.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the end of March 2013 at Cascadas de Merida! Ellyn was a warm & welcoming hostess. The house is beautifully cared for, very colorful, the staff lovely and efficient, the rooms very pretty, clean, comfy bed, well thought out. I loved the attention to detail: everything from the neem soap to the bottled water, to the waterfalls outside 2 of my windows....the swimming pool such a refreshing and peaceful experience, the neighborhood very quiet yet close enough to walk to town. Breakfast was delicious....homemade. True Mexican hospitality and Colonial style!
Thank you!
