“Magic behind the walls”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

What a wonderful find. When we had booked our rooms at Cascadas, Ellyne the owner had kindly given us very clear directions to the B and B. Ellyne said the front of the building looked very plain and that we would find the magic behind the walls. This was absolutely true. We loved all the water features especially the water fall beside the pool and the water fall that you see from the bathroom shower. Very nice and romantic touch. The home was designed by Ellyne's husband Chucho a man with a keen eye for detail. The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds very comfortable, something i have always found lacking in Mexico. Ellyne was very attentive making sure we were always comfortable and that we had a cold refreshment in our hands. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of fresh fruit, fresh breads, eggs, pancakes, juice, coffee and tea. All the staff greeted us with a smile, obviously very happy with their jobs.
We highly recommend this beautiful place. Definitely worth a try and good value.

So happy we found this amazing B&B. Ellyne and Chucho are wonderful hosts, a wealth of information and just nice people. The casitas are arranged around a pool in the backyard and are very comfortable... You feel like you are showering in a waterfall. Breakfast was yummy! Would love to return to Merida. Thanks Ellyne and Chucho!

Stayed two evenings in February 2014. Comfortable, well-appointed accommodations, delicious breakfasts, and gracious, knowledgable, and very helpful hosts. This B&B in Santiago looks modest enough from the street, but is a tasteful oasis inside, with casitas arranged around a pool. It was recommended by locals, and I can see why. Highly recommended by me as well.

Ellyne and her husband Chucho along with their staff are exceptionally welcoming and very invested in making sure every person has a wonderful stay. The breakfasts were amazing. Hand cut fresh fruit and wonderful huevos (think chilaquiles verde, motulenos, yummmm!) along with the house blended coffee and fresh made juices among a host of other items set everyone off on the right foot each day. Ellyne is a font of information on restaurants, sites and tours. The building is well maintained and the separate Casitas give a nice sense of coming home after a hard days sight seeing. If going in February, ask Ellyne about full moon jazz fest tickets. It is a local charity supporting education that is really making a difference to pueblo children and was a great first night out for us. If going to Merida again we will want to stay at Cascades for sure.

Cascadas de Merida is the ultimate B and B. The hospitality of Ellyne and Chucho was beyond anything we have experienced in our extensive travels. The rooms are beautiful, the bed was large and super comfortable, and the shower with glass walls overlooking a waterfall was a luxurious experience, and everything was spotless. The availability of a safe in the room was a plus! We loved coming back in the afternoon to enjoy the pool and relax in the hammocks while enjoying a wonderful fruit drink. It was an easy walk to historic Centro and we felt completely safe walking back in the evening. Ellyne was so helpful with tour and bus arrangements and every restaurant recommendation she made was perfect! Breakfast was beautiful and plentiful each morning and we enjoyed conversing with the other guests around the dining table. This is THE PLACE to stay in Merida.

Room Tip: All the rooms are identical and excellent.

This was our first experience with a B&B. We were pleasantly surprised by the location, property, care and attention provided by Ellyne, Cuccho and their staff. The casita was spacious, comfortable, clean, and poolside. The outdoor patio was enjoyed very much early in the day and after venturing into City Centro. We were treated each morning with a fabulous breakfast and news of the day along with things to do. Each evening on our own or in the company of other guests we enjoyed a cool drink before dinner. I would highly recommend Cascadas de Merida.

I don't usually write reviews but this place wills me to.
I have never experienced hosts as helpful and friendly as Ellyne and Chucho. If some go the extra mile, these guys double it. The gorgeous pool/courtyard, a shower recess to wow the senses, and such tasteful room decorations make this place a touch of paradise.
Our stay in Cascadas de Merida was the first place in Mexico and now all hotels/b'n'b's are compared to it. If you need information about ANYTHING in Merida, Ellyne and Chucho will have it - 95% straight up, 5% they'll find out by the time the next delicious breakfast is served.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same so no bother which one you get - they're all wonderful. We peeked in ano...
