“a delightful stay”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

sadly, we only had 2 nights to stay at this beautiful place, but they were memorable. ellen, the owner is warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area. she arranged a great tour for us and gave us advice about what to see/do, where to go, and where to eat. the place itself is beautiful and spotless, with great attention to detail. breakfast was delicious and the pool was wonderful. we'd recommend cascades de merida without reservation.

I came to Merida to see some of the sights we missed the first time. This time I was by myself. Ellyne was very helpful in arranging tours, (small and reasonable) and with advice on restaurants. Ellyne invited me to attend a benefit for the Red Cross which was so much fun. It was for women and several thousand attended. At least 3 groups of 30 or more each hired choreographers and presented 15 minute dance shows in elaborate costumes. The expat table also dressed up. She also told me about a house tour, several music events and a reenactment of the ancient Mayan game. The breakfasts were great as was the company of fellow guests. Ellyne participates in the conversaion at breakfast and is available throughout the day but is not intrusive. The rooms are comfortable and cool and it was nice to jump in the pool after a hot day. I felt very safe in the neighborhood, about a 15 minute walk from the main plaza, and I had no problems with the food. In fact the restaurants Ellyn recommended were reasonable and very good. If and when I go back to Merida, I would definitely stay here.

Room Tip: All four rooms face the pool.

We stayed at Cascadas for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon. Ellyne was very helpful with suggestions of things to do and good places to eat. We especially enjoyed having a good natter with her and Chucho about life in Mexico when he was growing up.

Room was nice, clean with a great shower, breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the swimming pool was lush.

If you`re planning to visit Merida and you`re looking for a really nice palce to stay there, then try to book one of the rooms at Cascadas de Merida. During your stay you will be warmly welcomed and will deserve all treatment you wouldn`t expect in a B&B. We spent four nights at Ellyne`s and Chucho`s house and we loved every minute of our stay there. The overwhelming breakfast with fresh ingredients, local "bits" of food, fresh juices and great coffee, the time at the pool on a hot afternoon in May, the already named charming hosts always trying to help, etc.
Thanks a lot to Ellyne and Chucho!

This is a beautiful B&B in a great location. Love the waterfalls. The owners really went above and beyond to help out my husband and I when we were sick. They even gave us a ride to our next hotel instead of having us take a taxi. I can't recommend this B&B more!!!

Room Tip: They are all great!

My Husband and I just returned from our trip to Merida and we are already making plans on returning, and we will be staying in this lovely, peaceful charming B/B again. What a gem! The Bed and breakfast is located near Centro Merida, making its location easily a walking distance to Centro Merida. Our room was ample in size, comfy
restful bed, and most important to us was the quiet air condition unit and over head ceiling fan. Breakfast was served with such a tasteful assortment of fresh fruits, pastries, frijoles, fresh homemade yogurt to die for, fresh squeeze juice and choice of omelet or chilaquiles a Mexican specialty breakfast dish. The Cascadas had a wonderful pool with plenty of lazy chairs for relaxation. What my husband and I admired and loved so much was the greatest hospitality we received. My husband and I love the way the owners care for their guest. We where so happy to received their help in guiding us with the many activities and interesting places in Merida. Of the many B/B we have visited over the years, we rate The Cascadas the Merida as our very favorite. Loved it!

Cascadas is an oasis of calm in a busy city! Located several blocks from the heart and bustle of the Plaza Grande in the White City of Merida, capital of the state of Yucatan. Even so , Cascadas is an easy walk to to the major tourist attractions of Merida Centro. The hospitality is first class! Guest are offered a welcome beverage in the common living area! The four guest rooms, located at the back of the property, away fron the noise of the street, are in each corner of the yard, pool in the centre, and a lounging area on one side. The waterfalls along the wall are relaxing as you enjoy the pool or resting on a chaise lounge with you drink at your side.
The decor and the water course, including glass walls in your shower, so you can enjoy the cascading waterfalls as you shower, are very unique and impressive.
Equally impressive is the wonderful array of fruit, bread, rolls, etc, including eggs served at breakfast. Ellyne, who runs this gem along with her husband, are a wealth of info and what to do and see in Merida. Warm, friendly, cheerful, they really make you feel at home, not at all like a hotel or hostel ! We had a wonderful weekend stay. Clean, very comfortable and totally charming! Highly recommend it!
