We were so impressed with our casita and the artistic decorating and design of this bed and breakfast. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming. We were treated like royalty and also like their new best friends. We loved our conversations with them. They were so informative of the area, excellent restaurant choices and activities. Our stay was wonderful. Be sure to enjoy a lazy afternoon in a hammock in the shade trees by the pool or sitting half-submerged on stainless steel stools in the pool reading a book.! The delicious breakfasts were beautifully presented in a lovely dining room with many different selections sure to please even finicky eaters. We can't thank Ellyne and Chucho enough for making our vacation so relaxing and special!! We are defnitely returning!!

We stayed at Cascadas for 7 nights for our honeymoon in May and absolutely loved it! When we arrived, Ellyne had a bottle of champagne and fresh strawberries waiting for us. Needless to say, this is just one example of Ellyne's tremendous hospitality. She was invaluable to our trip, as she helped us with places to go, things to see and the best way to get there.

The B&B is nestled in a quaint neighhborhood just a few blocks from the center of town. There are only four rooms, each of which are separate from the others, giving it a very private feel. The rooms are very nice, clean, and have skylights and even a glass shower! The staff cleaned our room each day while we were out. It was great to come back to such a tidy room each evening.

The layout of the house is great, with a central dining room and kitchen, and an amazing courtyard with a pool and hammocks. Each morning Manuel and his mother would prepare an excellent breakfast including fruit, yogurt, granola, bread, and a different main dish each morning. It was so great, we were rarely hungry until late afternoon! The staff here is very welcoming and treats you as a part of the family.

We would definitely suggest Cascadas de Merida. Even after seeing other places while touring, we were so glad we chose Cascadas!

We feel like we could go on and on about our stay here, but we hope this has given you a good idea of what to expect. Tell Ellyne and Chucho hello for us!

My best friends, my wife and myself had the incredible pleasure of staying here May 29th and 30th. We own property in Cancun and were exploring the other side of the penninsula for the first time. Within minutes of our arrival, we all felt that we had somehow lucked into selecting the perfect base for our explorations. The hosts Ellyne and Chucho, her pet name for her partner and husband, made us feel like old friends who were stopping for a visit in their lovely home. They were a wealth of information and suggestions. Sitting in the pool or laying in the hammocks around the pool and garden area provided rejuvenation to go out and explore each day and night. A wonderful breakfast, which changed each day, also gave us the energy needed to wander around this beautiful city. The location of Cascadas was part of the reason of our choice to select it, but it was the beauty and cleanliness of the facilities and most of all the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff that will draw us back. Thank you Ellyne and Chucho for everything.

We stayed 3 nights at Cascadas de Merida as the first leg of a week vacation in Mexico. We then went to Tulum for the remaining 4 nights. This B&B was even more impressive than the website and glowing reviews had led me to expect! The room was spacious, well decorated, clean and beautifully designed.

The pool was clean, the hammocks were comfortable, the waterfalls were soothing, and the beer was cold...paradise!!
Television (which we never used), wireless internet and an inroom lockbox were provided.

Our hosts, Ellyne and Chucho provided a delicious breakfast each morning (fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs, bread/sweet rolls, juice, tortillas, coffee). They also served as a valuable source of information concerning the best places to visit & eat in Merida.

We had never been to Mexico before, and found the city of Merida to be friendly and fun. It was not nearly as "touristy" as coastal area that we stayed later in the trip, but we were able to communicate using our "Learn Spanish in a Week" skills - at least well enough to catch a cab or arrange a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

The only negative aspect to our stay was that the 2 hotels we stayed at in Tulum afterwards suffered badly by comparison. We will definitely be back to visit Merida again, and we will definitely be staying at Cascadas de Merida!!

We just returned from 10 days in Mérida at the Cascadas de Mérida B&B. Not only is Merída the most friendly of cities you could not stay at a better place. The owners, Ellyne & Chucho, are the friendliest, warmest and most wonderful people and make you feel like you are visiting friends. The breakfasts were wonderful and different every day. The owners are there to recommend restaurants, activities and assist in all of your travel needs. They are very knowledgeable about both Mérida and all the surrounding area. We would never stay anywhere else. Staying in Mérida in the summer requires a pool and after exploring the city in the afternoon the pool is a great relaxing afternoon treat. The staff was absolutely wonderful.

My partner and I took a vacation to Mexico in April 2007. Neither of us had ever been to the Yucatan before. We wanted to spend a few days in Merida and a friend suggested Cascadas de Merida. What a terrific find!

We arrive late and weary only to be greeted by Ellyne with a smile and cold beer! Ellyne and Chico's place is near the heart of town, yet kept private by its tall walls enclosing a secret patio with a wonderful pool, hammocks, and surrounded by guestrooms which featured showers overlooking landscaped waterfalls.

Breakfast every morning was a real treat. I don't like fruit very much, but enjoyed fresh sliced mango, papaya, strawberries, and more each morning with wonderful coconut yogurt. I also loved the black beans and tortillas, the varied egg dishes each morning and the best coffee we had in mexico. (Try it with some of the local honey; a Yucatan specialty) They do their marketing fresh each morning too.

Each room had air conditioning and felt very private as you could come and go and were not right next to the other guests as you would be off of a hallway.

Ellyne and Chicho were great hosts. We don't speak Spanish and they were quick to help us out with everything. For example they took us to the local square one night so we could eat with them, Ellyne let us run errands with her one day so that we could see a "slice of life" and then she dropped us off at the museum we wanted to see. They suggested and set up a day trip and helped us with calls for transportation. Truly above and beyond! When i tried to tip Ellyne for this she refused and asked simply that we return and tell our friends about them. Relaxing, safe, and fun, if you go to Merida you will enjoy a stay at Cascadas de Merida.
