A good local hotel. Not well equipped for seniors. Lighting in the rear where the rooms and stairs are was partially out or non existing. Wife fell and has large bruises and abraisions. Staff could not have been more attentive to our needs. Hotel was very convenient to the city center and all the attractions and restaurants. Rooms were impeccably cleaned each day.

We stayed six nights in early March, and wanted a convenient location near the center of the historic district, relaxing, without the hubbub of many commercial hotels -- and this hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious, the service was attentive but unobtrusive, breakfasts were delicious. We could walk everywhere (but the streets and sidewalks are narrow in much of downtown Merida, as they were in front of the hotel) at any hour -- many people assured us of the safety of the area, and we were convinced by seeing people walking alone at night and we never had any trouble. It seemed that every night there was free music at the main zocolo or community parks. And the owners of the hotel were most gracious and interesting people. We would certainly return.

Our 3 night stay at Hacienda Merida had been booked by our travel agent and our itinerary stated "Executive rooms are on the second floor overlooking the swimming pool". This was total nonsense (our travel agents fault) but when we were shown to a ground floor room with no view (and to be honest very little privacy unless the curtains were drawn) we were disappointed. For the first time in our lives we went back to the extremely friendly and professional manager to ask if was possible to upgrade to the VIP section we had just read about on Trip Advisor. We made it clear that we were happy to pay the extra cost. After speaking to the owner we were whisked off to a wonderful room overlooking the swimming pool in the VIP section where we were treated like personal friends for 3 days. The teams running both sections of this hotel are superb and highly professional. Breakfast was excellent. This was a wonderful and charming retreat to return to after the hussle and bussle of Merida. It put a smile on our faces and we were very sad to leave. Despite our protestations the owner refused to take any additional payment for our upgrade - saying that he only wanted his guests to be happy. This is a special place, although personally I would book the VIP section next time (and pay the extra!).

Room Tip: Have given a 5* rating for rooms, this is in the VIP section, although even then I think they vary...

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The missus and I stayed a couple nights and couldn't have asked for a better location or hosts.

The room had a huge bed and even huger bathroom, and the crisp clean water in the large pool made coming back after a day out an absolute pleasure.

Thanks for making our Yucatan road trip that much better.

My partner and I stayed in this Hotel for 3 nights, and wished we had stayed for 4! It was beautifully designed and appointed, with a warm but chiq feel. The bedrooms were stunning and very quiet. It was too cold to swim, but the pool looked amazing!
The staff were incredibly helpful and the complimentary coffee delivered to your room was a lovely touch.
I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel, it was very special and romatic.

We recently stayed at the hotel Hacienda Merida for two nights during a road trip through the Yucatan. It was an absolute Oasis from bustling Merida, luxuriously appointed and decidedly comfortable. The four poster King bed was a dream to sleep in, and the gorgeous, spacious bathroom is fitted with a rain-shower. The owner Alex and his staff were just delightful - friendly and welcoming - and we felt very comfortable during our stay. The spring-water fed pool was the absolute highlight, providing a much needed respite from the heat after a day's sightseeing around the ancient city of Uxmal, about an hour south of Merida. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for quality boutique accommodation in a great location, walking distance to the main square, restaurants and cafes in the historical center of Merida, surrounded by delightfully crumbling facades and restored colonial architecture.

This is really one of the best (boutique) hotels we ever stayed. A very small but beautifully designed place in a wonderfull setting. Eye for details, extremely relaxing and really very nicel staff.

Setting: This is a beautifully restored building, with a patio and nine (?) rooms. In the patio there is a swimming pool and a covered walkway to the rooms. In this covered part breakfast tables are set and the lobby/bar/lounge part is partly outside but covered and inside. Everything has been styled with utmost eye for detail (let the photos speak for themselve).

Room: We had the room on the groundfloor adjacing the pool, and our own terrace including a hammock. The room was nicely furnished with 19th century stylish objects. Also artwork and other artifacts in the room made it well balanced. The bed was excellent and the bathroom is a piece of art as well, seperate toilet. everything worked perfect. Everything clean.

Staff and restaurant. The staf is extremely nice and "will to please", sometimes the proficiency of english language was a problem. Breakfast (not included) was made to order and with eye for detail, extra fruit, no problem etcetera.

It is also an expensive place to stay, but worth every peso.
