I only write positive reviews for things that are so wonderful that I want others to get to experience them. Casa julamis was exactly that, phenomenal. Casa julamis seems like it was build to share a love of merida with a lucky few. after a long successful career in the hotel industry Alex chose to build a small B&B in Merida. Alex is an great hotel proprietor and amazing man.

From the second you walk in the hotel feels special. The hotel is build in a gorgeous 300 year old house. It has original tiles and a great open air layout. The hotel is beautifully decorated with artifacts from all reaches of world. The walls are covered in beautiful hand painted murals done by Alex himself. The music choices during breakfast are equally culturally rich. Everything about the hotel reflects the beautiful diversity of experiences the owner has had.

The breakfast served every morning in the courtyard is exquisite. A gourmet hotel is a surprisingly accurate description. Like the asthetic properties of the hotel, the food reflects a fusion of cultural breadth and creativity. We spent 3 days with Alex and each day the breakfast was unique: day 1 was a take on the spanish torta, day 2 was an take on eggs benidict and day 3 (my favorite) was german inspired (the egg were made to look like spaghetti and wonderful white sausage from munich was served on top). Each day this was accompanied by great coffee, a fresh home made croissant, a homemade pastry as well a delicious and different fruit dish.

All this is to say nothing of Alex himself, who is what makes the experience. Alex is charming, witty and filled with great advice about Merida. His food recommendations were spot on. More importantly, Alex is incredibly warm. While we were there we felt it was a better version of our home and Alex was an old friend.

Hi there, I went here to recover a little after a 48 hours flight out of Indonesia. It was a great room, very clean, great toiletries and a great bed. Breakfast was better on the first day, but chef alex always makes a nice fresh burrito/quiche which is tasty. Location is a little out of the centro, but it only encourages you to see more of the city which is cool:) Loved my stay and would recommend my family to stay here.

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, we were really happy to get a room at Hotel Julamis, and the proprietor, Alex, did not let us down. The room was large, and absolutely gorgeous, with a large, clean bathroom. After hot and busy days spent sightseeing, we always came back to a room that was clean and comfortable - a pleasure to return to. Alex did everything possible to make our stay fantastic: recommended restaurants and made reservations for us; suggested places to visit and arranged trips; cooked us absolutely delicious breakfasts; and even drove us to the bus station to make sure that we had the right tickets to get back to the airport in Cancun. The roof garden is a beautiful place to hang out and relax, particularly in the evening. My friend and I both really enjoyed our stay, and I would return in a heartbeat.

I worked in Mexico for five months last year and I went for two weeks holiday with my boyfriend in Yucatan. It was June 2013 and we had the best two nights stay in this boutique hotel. The managers were so welcoming and friendly, they gave us a lot of useful tips as well as the most comfortable stay. The rooms are big and delightfully decorated, there is cold water in the room (price included) and the food they made us for breakfast was simply delicious. We will always remember the experience, thank you guys!

The owner Alex absolutely makes this place what it is....wonderful!!

He is a marvelous, friendly, helpful host.

The hotel itself in nice and getting even better as Alex is continually adding nice new guest friendly features and doing decorating upgrading all the time. In a sense...the hotel is not only his business, but his hobby as well and he enjoys continually adding things to make a guest's stay more pleasurable.

He recommended a restaurant for us for dinner...and we could not have been more pleased. TAKE HIS RECOMMENDATIONS AS FAR AS WHERE TO EAT in Merida...he will point you in the right direction.

My wife and I will definitely come back!!!!

Room Tip: We liked our room on the second floor with two doubles...very spacious!

We had a wonderful stay at this B&B. The whole experience was fabulous.. from our beautifully appointed bedroom to the gourmet breakfasts every morning cooked by the one and only, Alex (owner and chef extraordinaire!). The central courtyard where we had our meals was whimsical and we felt like we were in some secret garden far away from the city, when we were actually in the middle of centro (downtown Merida) a short walking distance from restaurants, parks, shops, etc. Alex was very helpful in providing great restaurant recommendations close by and making sure we had his cell number to call if we got lost. He encouraged us to walk the city, which is actually the best way to experience Merida. We stayed at Hotel Julamis from May 26 to May 30. By the time of our departure we felt like this little paradise was home. We highly recommend this friendly and affordable B&B to anyone wanting a very unique hotel experience in Merida, Yucatan. Don't forget to check out the fabulous views from the roof top terrace!
