“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 14 April 2013

I'm a little late writing this review. We stayed at the Hacienda Misne for four nights in mid-January. The hotel is lovely with many pluses. It is well located for touring ruins and getting into central Merida is easy. (We had a car and had no problem parking downtown.) The rooms are large and quiet; the beds super comfortable. We had a room with a small dipping pool but the weather was unexpectedly cool so we never used it. When we visited, there were few other guests so we had the feeling of having the extensive garden grounds all to ourselves. Weather allowing, breakfast is served on a garden patio with a wide selection of delicious Mexican dishes. They are generous and can easily be shared. Fernando took great care of us and willingly made us delicious strong coffee. This is a wonderful hotel. As other reviewers have said, it's a delightful place to come home to after a day of exploring the area. We have our own business so must have good internet connections to check in daily. We found wifi worked great on the terrace. And the internet in the room was good too. The only possible improvement would be It would be wifi in the rooms. We liked the hotel so much, we plan to return and explore the craft villages scatter around the area.

We stayed at Hacienda Misne for three nights. The setting is simply gorgeous. The original part of the hacienda is very beautiful and the bedrooms have a more modern feeling to them, these were built afterward but integrate with the old building really well. the gardens are extraordinary! Excellent place for pictures. The two swimming pools were very nice but very cold. the rooms have hammocks inside, a very Yucatan way of living. That was nice too. The
The lobby was extremely average, the furnishings appeared cold, not inviting at all. Since they only have wi-fi in that area we spent some time here, (Rooms had cable access), but sitting in those chairs was very uncomfortable. The service was excellent but the food was pretty average. Nothing spectacular for the price paid. The hacienda is in the outskirts of Merida, since we were visiting Cenotes and caverns out on the countryside it was convenient for us, but we had a car. When we went to visit downtown Merida we realized it is a bit out of the way. But we still drove to get a better dinner for the price.

I spent a weekend here while in town for a wedding. The grounds of the hotel are really gorgeous. The rooms are enormous and very comfortable, the hammocks are such a cool touch. The food was generally excellent if you ordered something Mexican, but the "American" fare was somewhat standard. The staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. However, my biggest complaint about this hotel is that despite the individual workers being very pleasant, the actual service seemed wildly inconsistent. You could wait an hour or more for a meal and sometimes things you ordered never showed up at all. They were constantly running out of things like soda or wine. I guess I expected things to be managed a little better. I haven't traveled much in Mexico, but as far as "resort" type hotels in general, this place disappointed me a bit.

Hi. We spent four nights at Hacienda Misne (about a 15 minute drive to Merida centro, and right off the main highway that takes you directly to Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Celestun et al) from Dec 21-25. I was with my wife and two kids (8 and 10 yrs old) and 81 yr old mother-in-law. We know Mexico quite well and speak fluent Spanish. I had to weigh the tone of this review because honestly there are so many whiny reviews on this website because the individual had a single bad experience at a property and then give it a 1 or 2 star rating. That's absurd. The property is beautiful though not as upscale as the Luxury Collection of haciendas (who charge 2-3x the price). It was decent value for the grounds, pools and excellent Mexican breakfast (abundant and varied) which we negotiated to have included -- it isn't always (they in fact on arrival only included it for 4 out 5 of us, but we asked for the 5th to be included). We paid $250/night per room -- rooms are spartan but airy and very clean (and large). We had a particularly bad entry experience (they didn't give us the rooms promised) and then the same individual proceeded to completely foul up something serious (we left some medicines at home and she bungled up helping with replacements) the next day and was completely unapologetic (and "deer in the headlights") throughout. C'est la vie. We had no working GPS and front desk employees don't have hand out directions for the most common sights and in fact directed us wrong on one occassion -- this is poor management (and the outskirts of Merida are vast and confusing to negotiate -- without Spanish I would have been toast). The staff other than the one individual mentioned are uniformly warm, helpful and quite delightful. Food other than breakfast is mediocre at best -- at times awful. Don't eat here -- the kitchen tries to get very fancy instead of making simple delicious Yucatecan food. Wifi is uneven and generally poor throughout the property. It worked ok in one our rooms and not in the other and you get a weak signal in the general areas. No one seemed to care to fix this though we mentioned it several times. I also don't get the sense that management seems to care in general (and they were traveling during our stay). Upon leaving, I asked in writing for the general manager to call me...still waiting. Given our experience, they did refund one night (but this had to be squeezed out of them), but this didn't make up for some very stressful situations. Misne can really be a placid oasis, when it "hits"...but there are too many "misses", which doesn't mean you and your family won't have a fine time here, but...

We stayed at the Hacienda Misne for two nights in November. It is a beautifully charming property - and truly felt miles from town even though it is quite convenient. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff very hospitable. Our room was large, comfortable and nicely appointed. The only suggestion I would give is that if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room toward the back of the property. Our room was near the main road, and there was a restaurant/bar over the wall that was a little noisy (music, loud laughs and conversation) especially on Saturday evening.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road if you are a light sleeper.

Staff really efficient & friendly. The gardens and grounds are very elegant and lovely to sit in and read. Short taxi ride to the centro historico. Rooms are large and well furnished but not brilliantly sound insulated. WiFi a bit 'iffy' but worked most of the time from the central area but not in the rooms.

We would stay there again if we ever return to Merida.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Hacienda Misne. The staff and service was great. The room was very large with a humongous bathroom. The property was well kept. The trees were so big and beautiful and it was so quaint. They prepared food freshly cooked so if you are in a hurry for your meal don't eat there. If you want good authentic mexican food and don't mind waiting for it to be prepared properly eat there and believe me you will be in for a treat. I visited one of my friends room and her room was different but also very large and nice. It really had a country feel and you felt so welcome. I recommend this property if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and really enjoy true mexican cuisine and hospitality.

Room Tip: Rooms in the middle closest to the office are good if you can't walk too far.
