“A few days in Le Reve”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

Nice hôtel, with some major lacks ...
- no boss or he ( or she) is very well hidden ... No one went to say hello and good buy... Which is the basic things to do when you own or run an hotel... Even more when It is presented as a "boutique hotel"...
- no place to sit after lunch or dîner....apart from 2 sofas taken by everyone....
- beach and sea full of rocks.. They provide "crooks" to go and swimm.... Very chic for a boutique hotel.....
- no View from our garden room... Strange to travel so long and not se the sea...
On the positive, charming staff.

Le Reve is a wonderful choice. The service, food and location are excellent. With only 25 rooms, it doesn't feel crowded. We stayed here for 4 nights, which was just right. (Don't let the bumpy road on the way to the hotel scare you away.)

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Very relaxed; great service; good food; clean; and just a great feel. We stayed in one of the balcony ocean view rooms. Big four post bed; huge bathroom; big balcony. Just great. Would stay again.

We stayed at Le Reve for the second time for 4 days. Again the service was outstanding. We arrived and were checked in by Orillia and everything was very quick. We booked a beach bungalow and the room was perfect. Very clean, great air conditioning and everything worked. I had requested diet coke and extra water in the mini fridge and it was all there. The staff remembered us from last year, Freddy, Carlos and all the staff in the restaurant and security were amazing. The chefs were second to none and the food here is beautiful. Have the Mayan meal for sure, order 24 hrs prior. Our chef came out to explain the meal and he was just great. The security fellow, sorry I forgot his name, was just so much fun and was always asking to do anything for us. Yes the beach is rocky but walk 2 minutes to the pier and swimming is great. This is a very small hotel, no tv, no radio but you are there to relax and that is what we did. The internet works great in the restaurant and lobby if you need it. You can take a cab to Playa for 20.00. If you want lots of action, bars and restaurants don't go here, but if you desire quiet, re connecting and pure bliss you need to try this. People complain the road here is really bad, yes it is not good but 5 minutes on a bumpy road is so worth with what is at the end.

Room Tip: We love the beach bungalow with the plunge pools

Such a beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms were immaculate and really stunning. The bed was so comfortable. Our garden view room was very private and we loved the plunge pool outside. The beach was gorgeous - swimming was a bit tricky since it was a little rocky and not great for snorkeling but really it was still so nice just to sit on the beach and gaze at the water, and cooling off in the main infinity pool was a real treat - honestly, this pool is my favorite that I've ever been to - so gorgeous!

Overall a very quiet and relaxing getaway. Would definitely recommend.

We arrived at Le Reve on Sunday 13th October 2013, having arranged a transfer from Cancun airport. We had read previous reviews about the bumpy roads leading up to the hotel, and they weren't wrong! Our taxi driver had never been to Le Reve before, and so after navigating the cavernous track, he was as pleased as we were to get our first glimpse of Le Reve.

The staff at the check in desk were lovely. They offered us a drink on arrival and instantly arranged for our bags to be taken to our room while we were given a tour of the grounds. We were alongside just one other couple for our first two days, so the hotel was incredibly quiet! This was by no means a bad thing - a large wedding party had left that morning having spent the previous week there, and so our week was quieter. Whether they were busy or not, the staff ALWAYS had a smile on their face and could not do enough to keep us happy.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, the room was comfortable and the exclusion from the 'real world' with no television, radio, or even clock (!) made it all the more relaxing. The restaurant met the standards of the accommodation as the food was fresh, delicious, and prepared with extreme care and skill. Medel - their evening chef - never disappointed us, and we asked to meet him later on in our stay. At 22 his ability in the kitchen is truly astounding. The fillet of steak I had on the first night was the best I have ever had...

An entire paragraph deserves to be dedicated to the always positive, ever informative and all round friendly beach barman, Roberto. We can honestly say that without Roberto our holiday would have just been excellent. He made it perfect. His knowledge of the local attractions and enthusiasm towards his job at Le Reve is so refreshing. We cannot thank him enough for taking the time he did with us to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Working alongside Roberto on the evening shift was the equally superb Ismael. The grin spread across his face throughout the dinner service was always welcome and his cheery personality made eating dinner in the restaurant an absolute pleasure.

The swimming pool and other facilities are excellent. The views out to the Caribbean Ocean are stunning and the hammocks (etc) available on the beach make that view all the more idyllic. Shoes are provided to get into the sea (there are a few rocks but this certainly didn't put us off), and snorkels, masks, and towels are also right at hand. As is the hotel's very own canoe if that takes your fancy!

On our last night we were upgraded from the Garden View suite we had been in to their Master Suite. It was truly amazing, with views over the pool and ocean, and a balcony the size of our bedroom back in the UK! It was a really nice touch to bring a close to what was already an incredible holiday.

The best testimony to the hotel's excellence came as we arrived. The transfer driver had never been to the hotel before. As we pulled up he turned to us and said: "Wow. That is amazing." He wasn't wrong.

It was great! Beautiful and paradisiac place, very comfortable room, very private... the best place to rest!!! All employees were very helpful and always smiling. The restaurant food was very very nice, congratulations for the chef.

ps.: only the internet could be better, the signal were awful, we could access only from the lobby and the restaurant, no access through our room.
