Last time we were in Playa we toured this hotel and decided to try it this trip. The room was cute, spacious, had a great bed, AC and fan and a nice fridge. The location is on the north end of 5th Ave, which is perfect for getting to the beach, restaurants, shops, etc. if you have a car be aware the the street closes to vehicle traffic after 4pm, but the hotel staff can get you past the barriers and into one of their two spaces or you can park on the street. They also give you an option for beach passes with Mamitas, hotel Palapas and one other. We chose Hotel Palapas which does require you spend 100pesos each for getting the loungers and umbrella. The breakfast on Casa Ticuls rooftop was outstanding. The ladies will make eggs to order, but we opted for the special burritos. There are also juices, breads, cereals, yogurt, cheese and meat. The hotel staff, especially Leslie, was great. Having said all this great stuff, I must mention how noisy it was. Maybe there are better rooms, but ours was at the landing at the top of the stairs so you hear all the other guests coming in throughout the night. Also it was a Friday night so some bar across the street had live entertainment and it sounded like it was in our room. The configuration of the hotel is around the pool facing the street so it seems to amplify the street noise. I suggest bringing earplugs or a white noise machine---or maybe trying for a room higher up. Otherwise we loved this hotel

Room Tip: Try for an upper floor or anything away from the stairs

Thanks for the comment!
It is true we are located in a perfect area for those who love the urban, walking down Fifth Avenue and pick the favorite restaurant for dinner.
A few steps from the best beach clubs and best stores!

I was looking for a boutique hotel that was quiet and cozy, and yet close to everything - and Casa Ticul was definitely the right choice! The hotel is clean, modern, nicely decorated and the service is great. It is located on the northern end of the 5th avenue, which is less crowded and has more hip & cool places.
Not a single complaint! There is some construction going on close by at the moment, but I was out of the hotel by the time it started and finished by the time I got to the beach, so not a big deal. Wi-fi signal wasn't very strong, but again, not a problem as the place across the road Cafe Cacao offered wi-fi.

I would like to say thank you to Leslie at the front desk. She was enthusiastic, hospitable and extremely helpful. I had a group dinner to organize and she was instrumental in helping me not only find a great restaurant and get us a great deal!

Room Tip: Ask for a "central" room if you want a bit more sunlight

Casa Ticul came highly recommended from friends of ours who come to Playa del Carmen and stay here each trip. The hotel staff go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you can possibly need. We enjoyed the free breakfast everymorning prepared by the two chefs (Two very nice ladies) which is served in the covered rooftop of the hotel.

Every day when we came back to our hotel my girlfriend loved the various animals they would make out of the towels and would leave for us on our bed. The AC worked perfect and the water pressure in the shower was very nice (Unlike other hotels in the area)

The only issue we had while we stayed here was with the wireless internet access. We stayed in room 10 which is in the far corner and we were out of reach of the wireless connection and would have to go down to the lobby if we wanted to check our messages or surf the internet. There were brief times during our stay that the wireless was completely down but luckily for us they had two computers setup in the main lobby for everyone to use.

Looking forward to staying here on our next trip back to Playa!

Room Tip: Try to ask for one of the middle rooms so you will have access to the wireless. Also if you are on the upper floor there is no elevator.

The staff is very helpful and always promt to help and indicate tours and places to go. The location is great because is not in the middle of the night life but it's not far away, so you can rest quietly at night after having fun all day/night. The room is huge, and the breakfast is very good, every day one different special meal.

Fantastic location and very clean with all you need. Close to everything but away from the night time noise. The staff, Leslie and Paola on reception are welcoming and excellent employees. They give you lots of their time and everyone even the maids greet you with a pleasnt smile and hello. We are regulars and will continue to be.
