I recommend this hotel. We stayed four days and really enjoyed it. Look for Marina, Mauricio and David. The dinner in the room with Max was wonderful..
All are good memories.. The beach was very clean as well.

Room Tip: Rooms are very big. You can fit a family of four in normal room.

My husband and I traveled with our daughter, her boyfriend, and two other friends in July 2014. We had a 3 bedroom suite which was fantastic. Our 2 butlers were great and were always checking on us to be sure we were well taken care of. Check in was a breeze as we are members of the Exotic Travel Club. Our accomadations were nice and the service was good. We had a little mishap at one of the restaurants and the next day the chef made a special lunch for us. This was very sweet and unexpected. We also had dinner for all six of us on the rooftop terrace one evening and it was terrific. We absolutly love the Azul and El Dorado Resorts!

In 2013 we went to azul five in playa Del Carmen for our sons wedding . We loved our stay there . We found the staff there very friendly and willing to help . The rooms were big and very nice. It's a smaller resort so no line ups . Also very clean . all around good trip . We are going back next spring to do the things we didn't get to do last year. Already booked

I have never stayed in such a well located place. The staff was just on point, the food was emmaculate. The excursions were provided by the best company. The all-inclusive was just superb. The pool and beach were beautiful.

Booked with First Choice from UK. First trip to Mexico. Check in at the hotel was friendly. Face cloths and drinks offered while we went through the details. Upgraded at check in to a suite which meant our teens were in the deluxe room next to our suite - we shared a front door and lobby but we each had our own front door. Suite was huge with a kitchen diner - probably not really necessary but it was lovely to have that much space and the table was great for when we ordered room service. Both rooms very clean with great showers. Our room had a spa bath too! Thanks to Maricruz for great housekeeping and amazing towel animals. You are assigned a concierge at check in and we found ours - Nadia and Bill - very helpful. Booking restaurants is not a hassle - just pop into the concierge and book the day before. We only had one occasion when we couldn't get into Tsuki, the Pacific Rim restaurant on the night we wanted. The only other restaurant you needed to book was Arezzo, the Italian themed one. Flavours was shut for some evenings during our stay - it would have been helpful to know this information before strolling over there in the evening but Sea Olive, up by the beach, was always open. You don't need to book for Flavours or Sea Olive. We didn't particularly enjoy our evening meals at Flavours but both nights we went were Mexican nights and the food just wasn't to our taste. Breakfasts there, however, are magnificent! Our first meal at Sea Olive was not the best and the waiter was the only surly member of staff we ever met at the hotel but subsequent visits were much better. Oriola, the beach restaurant is good for lunch - fantastic burgers - and has a lovely view of the sea. Steak at all restaurants was very tasty. The food is of a very good standard with lots of choice but it's not fine dining. Drinks were usually readily replenished and they always serve water. We found that sometimes the Sprite and Coke was a bit flat - it comes out of one of those bar machines rather than a can - but it doesn't cost to not drink it and ask for another. And the cocktails were a little variable - sometimes spot on and sometimes not! You will definitely not starve here or die of thirst though. We used the Vassa Spa on a couple of occasions and loved it. You talk to Adal, the guy outside the Spa and he explains what services you can have and how much it costs - just ask him to price it in pesos if you prefer it to US dollars - and you book it. There's a hydroptherapy room - sauna, steam, plunge pools - which you use before your treatments and then you go off to enjoy whatever service you have booked. Recommend at least one visit there. Not cheap - but then it's not cheap in the UK either. Entertainments at evening were surprisingly good. We were expecting something a bit amateur and corny but the dancers and singers were all very good. It is pretty low key at night - so if you're expecting full on boozing and dancing til dawn this perhaps isn't the place for you - but there's enough to keep most people occupied. Sky Bar has a great view across the sea to Cozumel - you get a great view of the lightening storms at night! Lots of lightening but very little thunder and no rain. Really weird! There's a choice of swimming pools. A couple of long winding ones through the accommodation blocks - not deep, plenty of beds, never busy, access to another pool bar and snack bar for lunch. The water in the pools is like bath water, it's that warm! The other pool is the entertainment one at the beach. This has a swim up bar and it's where all the activities happen - but not all the time so you can still use it as a regular pool. Again, not deep. The guys at the beach are brilliant. Lots to get involved in if you choose but they won't hassle you if you don't want to. Aqua aerobics, beach volleyball, salsa lessons. Makes it sound loud and busy but it's really not. You can easily zone out with a book on one of the swinging loungers and be left completely alone - apart from Marina, the excellent beach butler asking if you want another drink. The beach is good and it's easy to get into the sea because there are no rocks. The hotel have put in a manmade rock which looks a bit like a whale and this is easy to get to and admire the fish. On occasions, the sea is a bit rough and there were a few issues with seaweed - lots of it in the sea and on the beach on some days. The hotel can't control the amount of weed that washes up or floats around but every day the beach is cleared - they dig big holes to bury the weed. In no way does it spoil the beach. I avoided the sea though when they weed was especially thick - maybe 2 days out of 14. Diego, Alex, Manuel and Victor from the entertainments team - thanks for keeping our two occupied with volleyball and aerobics. And thank you Victor for loan of emergency sunglasses! Hope you got them back (ask Diego if you've not got them!) All staff are friendly and helpful, say "Hola" if they see you in the grounds. Really beautiful grounds, immaculately kept, resident iguanas on the rocks. We felt safe and well looked after here and have returned thoroughly relaxed. Unreserved recommendation.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the reception seemed quieter. Standard doubles are perfectly fine but the suites are really nice - bigger balconies, sofas, table and chairs. Block 14 is surrounded by pools and very quiet. No rooms have a beach view because of the way the hotel is designed but beach is a five minute stroll through the grounds. Request a pool view - though the garden views are just as nice.
