“Nice, Quiet Hotel in the Middle of the Action”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

We stayed during Spring Break (2012). We had an interior room. The hotel is pretty in and out. The windows open up to give you a view of the atrium. Everything worked for us (this was a while ago though) and the room was always clean. The menu was a bit small and everything on it was very good. Although it was spring break, the pool area was very peaceful and secluded from the street because it is an interior pool. We really liked the location of the hotel (see below). Negatives: the doors are paper thin and the mattresses are hard. I was fine, my wife griped about it. The doors were no big deal because it was usually quiet in the hotel.

It is located 2 blocks from the water and dead center of the action on 5th street. Which sells everything from cheap Mexican trinkets, to (real) Polo, to toothbrushes. BTW, Walmart is 3 blocks away where you can pick up liquor and alcohol for cheap. Seeing a Walmart on vacation sounds unappealing and that is why I am thankful that it located in a fashion that you cannot see it from the hotel, beach, etc. My family and I felt very safe during our visit.

Room Tip: My mother stayed in an outside balcony room, she experienced more street noise, but still managed to...

If you want to stay up all night - then this is your hotel. Loud is not even a good word. I don't think it matters which side of the hotel you are on, it is surrounded by a few bars and dance clubs: there is famous Coco Bonco on one side, then there a Beer Backet bar on the other side there are a few other places. Long story short - noise was horrible, so loud as if I was sleeping outside,it became finally quiet around 5 AM.

If your room facing the court yard then you also hear all the noise from the pool in the court yard. I needed a room for just a couple of days and this hotel offered a good price - I KNOW why it was so inexpensive after I stayed up both night.
Staff is great, room was beautiful, bathroom was great, decor was awesome, but so what? You can't sleep in that place. They need to remodel their windows, need them to be sound proof, the
windows are part of the problem.

Room Tip: They say there are sides of the hotel where there is less noise, I read those reviews also. In rea...

Absolutely beautiful hotel, inside and out. Playa is also absolutely beautiful and the night life great. The staff was very nice and helpful at Hacienda Real by encanto. Bringing us bottled water often. My sister traveled with us and her air conditioner wasn't working--they were as accommodating as they could be which wasn't much-- but were very nice and sensitive to her needs. They kept checking on her and seemed genuine. This hotel is in the heart of downtown. Which means NOISE. Lots of it and it doesn't stop til about 5 am. In addition to that the pool is in the center of this hotel and the layout of the hotel makes the pool noise echo and permeate every room. There were some very rowdy guests pushing each other in the water and hooting and hollering and eating poolside ALL day long. The hotel staff didn't stop them. Which was kinda annoying. The rooms were very nicely and tastefully decorated but the lighting in our room seemed too dim. Maybe its a thing in mexico because our condo we stayed in previously had dim lighting as well. Our fridge didn't work but my sisters did. Ultimately if you need quiet to sleep don't get a street view room. Also probably wear ear plugs. With all the restaurants and the loud late city night life coupled with the layout of the hotel it's just too noisy. If you can sleep through anything then this is the hotel for you. It's too bad it's in the heart of downtown, it would be perfect on the outskirts of town.

Room Tip: Street view rooms are too loud to allow you to sleep.

We stayed here based on recommendations on trip advisor....however I would not recommend it. Positives, wonderful architecture, great appearance from street, the doors to the rooms and the whole courtyard layout was really awesome! Room size was great! The dinner at the restaurant was affordable and pretty darn good. The waiter at night was a great guy! You Re close to 5th, ave....just one block away and there are great places to eat everywhere.

Negatives, the other couple we were traveling with hotel room had no air conditioning, the hotel told them they could not fix it....eventually it got done but ruined our first night. DO NOT GET A STREET VIEW ROOM UNLESS YOU WILL BE OUT AT THE BARS TILL 5AM!!! Too loud! We purchased the room through orbitz and added the American breakfast for 12 dollars extra a day. Well we had 4 people in our room and were under the impression you would get the breakfast for all 4 but nope...kids don't count. Also the breakfast consisted of 2 eggs, 1/2 piece of toast and coffee that looked and tasted like hot water. It was also cheaper to just purchase the breakfast there instead of online. The pool looked awesome or first sight, however they allow people to swim and eat in the pool, bottles everywhere, it turned into a party scene....no way you could sit out and relax. It was definitely not a kid friendly place.

My friend and I stayed a week here in May 2013. This hotel is in a great location. A block from 5th where the main shopping area is with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Right around the corner is a noodle house that is too die for! Possibly called Babe's Noodle House?? yum! and also a falafel place that was delcious. Both places are on Calle 10. The beach is only two blocks walk as well. Felt safe at all times. Our hotel was clean. Staff helpful. The pool at the hotel was quite refreshing as well. On the weekend sometimes there was some noise coming from some of the clubs nearby, but not really that bothersome. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, you will be fine. Also sure to visit Big Al's Bar ! Oh also one day our room key stopped working, but was quickly fixed.

was really excited when the host shared the photos of the place and the rooms lived upto it. was saying in a single room first and was moved to a suite a day later. both were comfortable but the suite was really large with two balconies, a kitchen, a dining area and a living room. Infact it was too much and the hectic schedule meant could not make much use of the space or the facilities. the tequila session was good and enjoyed swimming in the pool. the food was good. while the breakfast spread was good it was fairly repetitive and the one thing I liked was they had purely Mexican dishes as well. was staying as part of a business event happening there so it was not an issue but if on tour it maybe an issue as you may have to spend on transport unless you prefer walking. also they have this funny policy of a card for towels which if missed they fine you. sounded strange but then realized people take towels when going to beaches and they never return and this way they disincentivize it. the weather was largely pleasant during my stay except for some afternoons when it became a bit sunny. this is nothing to do with the hotel but please don't hire the yellow cabs return transfer offer at the cancun airport. got cheated when had to hire another taxi after paying these guys upfront on arrival for a return pick-up. the silly reason given was need to call 24-48 hours before for confirmation and had called 6-8 hours earlier. the person at the airport was rude when I complained. also when shopping in Playa please be careful and look for the non touristy shopping areas since the prices can hugely vary.
