“Excellent location but a little shabby”
Reviewed 12 April 2013

Hotel Colorado sits on a main road which leads to Playa's beautiful beach and is a short stroll to the many restaurants bars and shops. In the opposite direction you'll find a large Walmart just a few minutes walk away for convenience shopping.
The hotel was good value for money and is decorated in a very mexican bold way - i enjoyed the feel of this hotel however it did have a few downsides.
We stayed in a 3 person room (double and a single). The head of the singled bed was right by the door which made me feel slightly uneasy. There were also many insects coming in underneath the door during the night, mozies, ants etc which did not aid a restful sleep. The bathroom was a nice large size though and the shower good quality but a small unopenable window meant it got very hot in the bathroom. The hotel is security gated so i didn't feel too unsafe and the kitchenette was well stocked with pots and pants. The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful.
I would recommend this for people staying in PdC on a budget that still want to be near the attractions.

Room Tip: Possibly go for one that is not on the ground floor if possible to avoid insects!

Hard to say anything bad. Location is outstanding. You can walk to Walmart, 5th Avenue or the beach in about 10 min or less. Perfect balance of amenities and fun. Hotel is quiet, peaceful, clean. Love having cooking facilities. Makes me feel at home. WIFI strong signal in rooms. I think the price was slightly elevated, paid $650 per night. But overall it was good value. If I come back to Playa, I would definitely stay here again.

I am sure some people would not like it because its not a resort or whatever, but I look for value, location, cleanliness, good wifi and cooking facilities. It filled the bill for me perfectly!

Sybil and her husband are very helpful, the room was as the other reviews say. The bonus was the colectivo station around the corner. You can get to Xcaret ,Tulum, etc. for 20-40 pesos. When you are done go stand on the hiway and flag one down.

A very nice place. The staff was very lovely, helped us with everything and even upgraded our room. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The beds are also very comfortable. The place was very quiet. At night, the outer gait is locked for safety. Great value for money.

I have been travelling from Guadalajara, Mexico this January. I am heading for Panma City and then the Lesser Antilles. I am flying home to Singapore this May.

I am glad I picked Hotel Colorado for my stay in Playa del Carmen last week.

It is inexpensive. The room is spacious, clean and neat. There is even kitchen facilities in my room for me to prepare my own breakfasts and snacks. Wi fi is high speed in the room.

Although, the Yucatan is hot at this time of the year, I do not need to switch on the air conditioner because the hotel is shady and cooling throughout the day.

The hotel is only 5 to 7 minutes walk to the 2 main bus terminals, where ADO buses ply between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Xcarat, Xel-Ha, the Belize and various parts of Mexico. Ferry terminal to Cozumel, shops, restaurants and laundry services are also within short walking distance.

The owners are very friendly, helpful and informative. They are always around. They speak German, English and Spanish.

I will highly recommend anyone who wants space and privacy to stay here.

Located just a few blocks from the busy Quinta Avenida, this lovely hotel offers great value. Colorful and full of character, it offers basic but clean rooms that are cleaned every day. The owners are friendly and helpful and make sure that their guests enjoy their stay. I paid 400 pesos a night for a private room with a double bed and the A/C. Even better, it's within walking distance of both bus stations, the ferry termminal, the Playa Express, and the collectivos. Could well be the very best price/quality ratio in all of Playa del Carmen! Highly recommended for budget travelers!
