Thats gonna be our second stay at the Sandos Playacar on sept. 19 .. so anxious to be there again.. it was so nice last year that we decided to go back this year.. Everything was perfect.. nice room in the building area 2000 .. 4th floor.. ocean front.. a large bedroom with King size bed with a large screen TV.. a large patio window.. a large shower with toilet .. and a large living room with a dinner area with another large screen TV and another large patio window.. and another bathroom.. its look like a 31/2 appartment.. so clean .. and fridge with plenty of soft drinks or liquors every day!

The food everwhere was delicious.. and the service .. excellent.. no complain of anything! Everything was so perfect.. The beach is marvellous.. with white sand all over.. and the pool near the beach very clean and a lot of possibility to relax.. finally.. thats all the reasons that we will be there again on september 19.. this year.. just can't wait!

Room Tip: Buildings area 1000 and 2000 are the closest part near the beach.. 6000 in the middle of the site an...

We took our kids for Xmas in 2011 not 2013, and because of this trip to Sandos, we went again the next year to the Sandos Caracol Eco resort. This (Sandos Playacar) resort was small but fun. Lots of places to eat and the food was great. The beach was fantastic (no rocks or reefs). Nightlife every night in the central plaza. We thoroughly enjoyed this place but I'd like bigger pools. I'm extremely picky about my resorts and the only thing negative to say about this place is the size of the pool. Kinda small. But all in all, it was a great place and if I can't find a better place with bigger pools then I'll definitely go back here again.

Room Tip: Don't get ground floor rooms. No patios, they flood when it rains. This was our first nights roo...

We stayed at Sandos Playacar week of 7/12 through 7/19/14. Just me and hubby, who was celebrating his 60th birthday. We had never tried an all inclusive before, but had been on plenty of cruises, we figured it was somewhat the same concept. But this was much better than any cruise we had ever taken. We started off a little on the slow side -our flight was delayed by two hours and then our Best Day shuttle driver got lost and wandered around Playa for about 45 minutes before he found the resort . So we did not arrive at check-in until about 9pm. Bonus was no lines, no time share pitches, one nice young man got us the room keys and another one took our luggage and us to our room. We were in the select club adults only section , room 9337, third floor Jr suite. The room block was the last in the back of the resort , we faced out to the jungle behind . Great room, king size bed, sitting area, huge bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. Spotless, a/c worked fine, smelled good.Bed a bit hard, went to Walmart next day bought a pad ( saw lots of these coming out of taxi trunks all thru the week). Mini fridge with beer soda and water, stocked every day. Filtered water as well , hot and cold. Ladies, these rooms are a little lacking in storage space, all shelves, no drawers, but a good sized hanging closet. We never had one problem with the room the whole time we were there. Be aware that if you open your doors to the balcony the A/c will shut off and it takes three seconds in that humidity to fog the marble floors and every mirror in your room in July. Nice flat screen television with a few English channels, watch CSI closed captioned in Spanish, its a hoot! Our only complaint about the room was not the room itself, but the fact that the Elevator in our corner did not function the whole week. Husband has a bit of a bum knee, so we had to walk a bit to the next block and go down. Nothing critical but a bit annoying, because if you wanted ice you had to go up and down stairs . I got a workout. The resort is a long huge strip running from our block of rooms all the way to the beach . We took advantage of numerous golf carts and vans available to get further into the resort to the main buffets, beach, etc. We never waited more then ten minutes for a ride. I will confess that we spent most of our time in the adults only sections of the resort. We were close to the select club pool with its great swim up bar. Lunch is served on the deck as well each day . We ate breakfast at the select club buffet under the lobby which was in front of the adults only area. Selection and quality at both these locations was very good, as were the staff in these areas. We had wonderful server named Floriberto at breakfast several days, he needs a promotion, he was that good. We took advantage of the adults only spa area with the hydrotherapy pool , vapor room ,and dry saunas . We highly recommend you check this area out, it was wonderful after a day long tour. We did eat at two of the a la carte restaurants , the French and the Steakhouse. Both had good service, ok food. You simply cannot get a steak done medium rare in the whole place ( poor hubby) but I had the duck at the French and the grouper at the steakhouse and both were very nice. The French restaurant is adults only, very quiet. The rest of the a-la cartes allow families with children, and our dinner at the steakhouse was accompanied by a pretty little girl with the lungs of an opera singer and oblivious parental units. The whole meal. Just our luck I guess. We ate at the international buffet one night and the Italian the other, and though environment was noisy, all the kids were well behaved and the food was actually very good for a buffet, lots of selections. We also took advantage of room service , which came promptly with great quesadillas, taquitos, club sandwiches, etc. We are not beach people ( we are from florida, over it already) but the beach is stunning . The grounds were beautiful and well kept and we saw coatis, agoutis, iguanas, howler monkeys and plenty of birds. We took two tours we arranged online before we left ( Ek Balam ruins and cenote, ATV and cenotes/cave tour) and went into Playa several times by cab. Cabs are right out front of the hotel in a line just waiting to be summoned. We caught the Freddy Jackson show at the theatre, very well done. The service at the resort was top notch. We emailed Daniela Delgado a week before to set up reservations at the restaurants and make a room request and her communication was excellent. At the resort , the staff was all smiles and "holas' and even when there was a language barrier, they tried their very best to make sure they were accomodating your needs. We would like to thank everyone at Sandos for making our first all-inclusive experience so memorable. We will be back!
PS, husband says get grounded GFI outlets installed for the mini fridges in the room and more importantly, the speaker system for the band they had in the middle of the pool one day. You made him a bit nervous.

Room Tip: Select Club rooms are very nice, quiet, and in the back of the resort. Close to Lobby with wifi and...

This was our fifth year at Sandos. We consider Sandos family and Playa Del Carmen our second home. Daniela Delgado with web relations is very accommodating, friendly, and thorough! She helped make our trip wonderful. The resort is perfect for families with children of all ages! The teens club is wonderful but the adults need to stay out of the club. We had to report on several different occasions because adults were taking up all of the games that are meant for the kiddos. The staff was very good at getting the situation handled. The entire staff is wonderful and full of smiles. I love that Sandos is full of culture from all over the world! We will be back again...of course :)

We spent a week there and had our wedding in the middle of the week. The staff was very attentive and very welcoming. My husband and I did not feel discriminated and the staff welcomed us and congratulated us on our wedding. The wedding coordinators were very attentive and provided us what we wanted. The ceremony was beautiful and they decorated much more than we could imagine. The only thing was the dj didn't stick with our playlist during the dance. Perhaps we should have informed him to play only our music. Otherwise he mixed our songs pretty well. Other than our wedding, the waiters and housekeeping staff were excellent. We were really impressed! Steve & Andrew

We just returned from 7 days at Sandos Playacar, and we could never say enough great things! From check-in to check-out, the experience was spectacular.

The resort itself is beautiful, and located on a beautiful stretch of beach with the most amazing stretch of ocean. We spent the majority of time on the beach, and were never without a drink in our hands, if we wanted one. We also spent time at the adult pool around lunch time, where they have the most amazing, and varied, lunch buffet each day. Keep your eye out for David, a bartender at the adult pool. He is AMAZING! He is warm, fun, and incredibly attentive. Daniel on the beach is right up there, too. Incredible service with a fantastic attitude!

We were able to enjoy a number of the a la carte restaurants. Our favourite, by far, is Riviera Maya...the Mexican restaurant. Cordero provided spectacular service with the same attention, friendliness and amazing treatment that we've come to expect. We returned to the same restaurant and had Jorge Rene as a server; he was just as great...we're sensing a trend! At Le Gourmet, Juan de Dios provided elegant, attentive service, and when we recognized the bar tender from our first trip, he quickly sent over special drinks to celebrate our return.

The snorkeling down the beach from the resort (a 5 minute walk down the beach to the reef) provides ample opportunity to enjoy swimming with many different fish from the area. We also did an excursion which was easily booked at the Meeting Point.

I feel like I could go on and on about how amazing Sandos Playacar is, but I should stop. It's amazing...there isn't a thing bad that I could say. If you stay there, you are sure to have a wonderful time...and most likely go back, just like we do!
