I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. When my friend and I arrived they were very nice, the hotel was not what we expected. We went to our room and had no phone and no lock for the safe, so we went to the front desk and were told we had to pay for lock for the safe and as far as the phone they had problems with the service that they had. The car service that we used was through the hotel told us they would be in contact with us regarding what time they would pick us up when we were leaving, which we didn't from them. One of the girls that worked there did call the car service but was told to call back the day before we were leaving. The day before I went to the front desk and asked them to call the service and was told I would have to pay for them to call the service or I could walk to the place which my friend and I did we walked and they told us that they had called the hotel an asked them to give us the message which the hotel did not. So to say the ,least we were not at all impressed the only good thing was the location, the buffet was a real joke.

Room Tip: Location is good 5th avenue it awesome .

We were brought here by another hotel as an amendment for a situation external to us.
We were supposed to sleep here comfortably but it turns out that when we got to the room found LICE, many of them, jumping on the pillows.
Of course we complained but the staff was nothing but rude, very rude to us. First of all, I talked to them in spanish and they said they could not help us, that the hotel was full. Then my boyfriend talked to them in english and they ignored him completely. When I asked them that I wanted to see the manager, they got really mad and asked us to leave the hotel and to hand our keys in. This was very upsetting and disrespectful. On top of things, they did not reimburse $50 of the $250 we paid for the night because they said we undo the bed and that there was no staff to make the bed so they can sell the room for the night.

We were furious!!!

We left disappointed for what should of been a good holiday.

Room Tip: Stay here if you like to be treated like a street dog

We LOVED our stay. The best part was the All Inclusive meals and drinks! The place was clean, quaint, and lush with greenery. We had a sweet little hammock for two on our patio and enjoyed swinging in it during our evenings. The beach club was a few blocks away but the walk was pleasant. The price just can't be beat for the value!

Room Tip: As for a room near the reception area with a garden view.

If you are looking to stay in the heart of Playa, on 5th Ave, and not spend a ton of cash, this is the spot. When I travel, I usually like to stay on the beach, and was concerned that the Tukan wasn't, but in the end, it made no difference at all. It was about a 2 minute walk to the beach, and about a 7 minute walk to the beach club where we could use our all inclusive.

Their all inclusive plan is awesome. It is different then all the other places I have stayed. It is a small hotel with only 1 restaurant, but the premium all inclusive let us eat and drink at a bunch of other places. One was a sports bar, one was an open air bar/restaurant right on 5th ave, one was the beach club , one was a great little breakfast place. They were all just a few minutes walk from the hotel. I've stayed at some huge mega resorts that to get from your room to the restaurant would take even longer.

The rooms are nice, clean, basic, nothing spectacular, but we were never in them. The staff was great, we had no problems with anything and didn't really need them, but they always were asking us if we needed something. Very nice people. The pools were ok. There are a few small ones, all in the shade, which was great when we needed to cool off. We spent most of our daytime walking up and down the gorgeous beach and 5th Ave.

5th Ave is so cool. If you haven't been, you have to go. The Tukan plops you right in the middle of the action. Awesome value!

Very beautiful grounds and pool area. Ideal location. Well-kept rooms. Don't like that every time we've booked a room, we've been given a room across the street in one of their 'sister' buildings....not great for going to the pool. And they charge extra if you want to stay in a room by the pool. Beware of this scam.

No ice available. They sent me two blocks away to buy ice, despite the fact that they have a full-service restaurant available.

Terrible air conditioners. Weak window units that are underpowered. The room was constantly hot and humid.

Terrible linens. A thin 'blanket' and a springy 'mattress' that was a little rough but I've had worse (in the Army for example.) With the weak air conditioners they must think you don't need a better blanket or sheets, however the point of the air conditioner isn't jus temperature, but humidity control. Being in a tropical climate, there's nothing worse that sweating while sleeping.

Nice exterior environment except for slippery, narrow rock paths and steps which make luggage or stroller transport treacherous.

They did provide baby cribs which was nice.

Breakfast buffet was adequate and fairly ok.

Perfect location.

No refrigerator in-room, although with an ice machine this wouldn't be an issue.

Ants on the countertops. Small ones. A occasional giant carpenter any was found in the curtains. A few broken railings in the balcony so it's dangerous for small children.

Very thin, see-through curtains. Expect your room to be flooded with light constantly. Terrible to be woken up at sunrise every morning.

Front desk staff (at night) was very nice. The guys that helped with the luggage were also great.

No chairs in the room, so if you want to sit at the desk and do any kind of work, it's useless.

No elevator. Lots of uneven steps. A big pain if you have little kids and have to tote then up and down the stairs (along with the stroller and assorted stuff.)

We had a two bedroom 'suite' and we received: two towels, 8 bottles of shampoo, 4 soaps. But two towels total.
