“Best Mexican family vacation ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014

We stayed here from March 3-10, 2014 with our two teenagers. The resort was lovely and the rooms were nice - not over the top luxury but certainly very clean and lovely. I was concerned when booking that there would not be enough for the kids to do but I was pleasantly surprised the very first day. The Entertainment Staff were awesome and the kids spent the week enjoying beach volleyball with people of all ages. The food in the main buffet was excellent - varied, fresh and very tasty. I never felt that I was eating last night's dinner made into something new the next day at lunch. We ate at the Japanese restaurant and the Italian. They were both very good. The Spa is absolutely wonderful. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a joy to be there and they made you feel very welcome. The beach is beautiful, the water lovely but the only downfall was there the snorkeling wasn't great off the beach. There are a number of good areas close by that are so that was a plus. The ferry to Cozumel is a short walk away as is Playa del Carmen. We walked into town one evening to look around - there is a large mixture of high end shops and touristy places as well as cafes and restaurants.

I have stayed in a number of resorts in Mexico, Cuba and DR. I couldn't tell you which resort was in which country because they were lovely but not memorable. I won't forget the Playacar Palace.I would definitely return to this resort and I would recommend anyone who is looking to visit the Mayan Riviera check it out.

We spent a week at the Playacar Palace Resort in February. It is hands down the best all inclusive I have ever been to. The food is OUTSTANDING. Not your typical all inclusive menu. The service was beyond superb. Rooms were large and very clean. This is our new favourite place and we will be going back. It is pricier than others but once you stay, you will understand that it is well worth it. You get what you pay for. The location can't be beat either. Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back!

This was a welcome return to Playacar Palace. The standard of cleanliness is wonderful and the rooms are kept beautifully every day. We had a view of the pool and beach though a little lower level than last time we had no problem with noise.
The staff are all willing to help you in any way possible particularly the waiting and dining staff.
We love the location as it's just a short walk out to Fifth Avenue for shops and a change of scenery.
This time we also went over to Cozumel on the ferry and had a day at Cozumel Palace hotel for snorkelling.
We would definitely return but we did have one or two comments to feed back
1) they are really pushing membership (no use to us from the UK) and now reserve sun loungers for members but on a number of occasions these were reserved ALL day and were not used. As it is quite a small pool this is unacceptable. If they are going to do this they need to make a totally separate area with extra beds.
2) we found it difficult to use the resort credits this time as a number of things have been removed - and only just saw the small print on the form before we were about to send laundry in to use some credits (only members can use them). We could have used more in the spa but a fairly small limit on how many you can use.
3) the romantic meal is now alongside Señor Frogs and the ferry so we got the fumes from the boat and also from someone smoking at the meal - not socially acceptable now in the UK we think it should say smoking not acceptable in eating areas outside here.
4) the evening buffet menu is very repetitive and it would be nice to see more of a change - and more Mexican food. Last time we were here there were some different barbecues outside at night but none this time.
A big thank you to the excellent pool, bar and dining staff & entertainment time which is nice nd fairly low key so suited us.

Room Tip: Sea view worth paying for

We booked our trip through Beach Bum Vacation and this was our first time using a travel agent... She was AWESOME! We had 50 guests that also booked through DANIALLE as well. She was very knowledgeable, and got back to everyone in a very timely manner. If you are planning a trip, I would highly recommend her, esp if you are traveling with a large group. She makes it so easy for everyone!

The service we received at Playacar was unbeatable! The hotel staff was the most friendly we have ever encountered. From the moment we walked in the door Abigail was there to help us, as well as our wedding coordinator, Karla. She made the details of the wedding so easy! We had our wedding on the Beach and the reception on the Beach Deck. Of all of the weddings we saw there, I was very happy with our choices. We would strongly recommend getting a DJ. He was great and helped make our party a lot of fun! Fernando and Javier were a few of the names we remember regarding the fun wait staff. They did a fantastic job!

The beach was amazing, as was the pool. We took a ferry ride to Cozumel (27/person, round trip) to swim with the stingrays. We used our credits for that. We also got a couple’s massage in the Spa, with our credits. The massage itself was great, but the amenities that have access to prior to your massage are what set it apart and make it so relaxing! Beautiful Spa! The resort credits are great as long as you have realistic expectations.

A few of my bridesmaids and I got our hair done in the spa for the wedding and were all very pleased with the way it turned out! We just showed them pictures and the stylists did a great job!

We went to the Beach Palace for a few days as a couple, after Playacar, and if you are trying to decide between the two, we would highly recommend Playacar simply for the relaxed atmosphere and great service! They are both child-friendly resorts, but Beach Palace was definitely a little more focused on kids, and since we don't have any that is not something we were looking for. There were not many children at Playcar.

Overall our stay at Playacar was fantastic! I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. We will definitely be back!

We just finished our one week stay at the Playacar Palace. It was amazingly awesome. The cleanliness, friendly staff, fantastic food and drinks, so many choices made our stay wonderful. Thank you to Javier and Perla in the Luna lounge. Javier makes the best Cosmo martini in the hotel. Bernice and Nora did a great job keeping us hydrated at the pool. Antonio in the Italian restaurant and Oscar in the Japanese restaurant are great servers. Thank you for making this a memorable week. Christina with guest services - you are a shining star.

We have been Palace Members since 2005. We have been to Xpu-Ha, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, and Adventura Palace resorts. We enjoyed all the others but this one was the best. We are not party animals and don't enjoy sitting around watching people get raging drunk. This was the place for us. There were fun activities, a beautiful new Spa, fabulous white sand beach, really good food in multiple restaurants on site. The pool is small but there is a huge beach and lots of ocean to enjoy. The facility is older but well maintained and the rooms were sparkling clean - everyday! One thing about the rooms - every room has a large hot tub built in so there is limited space in the room. No place to sit back, read a book or watch TV except on the bed or in the public spaces. If you are a fan of soaking in bubbles it will not be a hardship for you.
The resort is convenient to walk to 5th Avenue and the ferry. Easy access to Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, and Cancun. The best part though is the wonderful, friendly, accommodating staff. You are greeted with beautiful smiles everywhere you turn and the service is spot on. We plan to bring our children and grandchildren the next visit.

Room Tip: We were 5th floor facing the beach. Fantastic views and quiet.

We went to the Playacar Palace for a destination wedding and had a lovely time! Very upscale all inclusive, but well worth the money! The beach is beautiful and you can walk for miles! Daily activities for adults and kids. Good selection in the main restaurant and amazing food in the Italian place. Even though it is all inclusive, bring $1's along to tip - they go along way with service and some extras!
