“Authentic Spanish Food/Nice wine list/Great Service”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

Most visitors won't leave 5th Avenue and that is a mistake. We return to Tierra Espana whenever we come to Playa del Carmen and it is always one of the highlights of our trip.Walk the 3 blocks up Constituyentes and you won't be disappointed. We recently met some friends who live in Playa for dinner and, as usual, had a fantastic meal, great wine and at a much lower cost than the overpriced tourist spots on the Avenue.

“Wonderful Spanish food/tapas with an extensive menu”
Reviewed 15 February 2012

If you want a nice change from the typical Mexican beach fare, try this place. A bit off of the tourist strip, but it is easy enough to find. The large menu - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - includes hot and cold tapas, Spanish entrees, sandwiches, etc. The food was excellent: we ordered Spanish chorizo (cold tapa), a sandwich, and an interesting breakfast egg dish. Prices are not cheap, but are good value for the high quality food. Pleasant dining room, and excellent service.

“A wonderful night out for something a little different”
Reviewed 14 February 2012

I went with a group of 7 on Saturday, February 11th. We let Carlos(the manager) set the menu, the wine and the entire evening. Frankly, I cannot tell you half of what I ate, but it was wonderful. The octopus, the squid, the suckling baby pig, the paella (no shrimp as my husband is allergic), and more....and several bottles of excellent wine.

The service was top notch, the atmosphere, was festive, as the lights went out, and we had candle lit flamenco dancing. Frankly, I liked it better than when the lights came back on!

A great night, spent with great food, great friends and great fun!

“A trip to Spain for the price of a taxi ride”
Reviewed 12 February 2012

Good and authentic Spanish cuisine. Tapas, paella, gaspacho, wine list, the whole 9 meters. Spacious and luxurious dining inside and out. The owner is personally involved and the staff is well trained to insure that the customers thoroughly enjoy the dining experience. Flamenco dancing on the week-end. If you crave the cuisine of Spain, this place is a must try.

“Good food but subpar atmosphere”
Reviewed 9 February 2012

There are so many places to dine in Playa del Carmen with beautiful outdoor seating or beautifully lit & designed indoor spaces that I just can't recommend going here unless you are going specifically to see the flamenco show at 9 pm. The show was amazing and worth going for, but I would go for a pitcher of sangria, some appetizers, watch the show, then leave. The paella was good but not something I'd order again, because there are just too many choices in Playa. The owner was very nice as was his wait staff. They just need to turn off the tv at 5 pm and turn down the lights and light some candles. They are on Av. Constituyentes which is the busiest cross-street in Playa so cars are constantly driving by and creating noise. If this restaurant could move to a better location and work on their interior decorating, it would be a very different place. They just can't compete in Playa when places like The Glass Bar, Piola, Fusion and Zenzi exist.
