My husband and I spent 2 weeks at this hotel. I had a Jr. suite on the 2nd floor corner in the adult area. It was really quiet and we slept well. When we checked in Luiz greeted us with a great smile, and very friendly.
The staff was really great and the bartender was amazing what drinks he created. Breakfast was really tasty, and had a great variety. We had a few lunches and the Burgers were wonderful, so were the Chicken Nachos. Dinner had excellent fresh fish and large Shrimp, and the Chicken special was also great. The Mexican Pizza was delicious as an appetizer. The meal plan is really the best deal you could ever find. We have been to many of the restaurants, so we decided to do this plan this year. Cocktails were beaytiful and tasty, especially Jorge's special Sangria, the best!! The atmosphere was very warm and friendly.
We made friends with a few couples and would meet for drinks after the day at the Beach and then later after dinner. You could walk to many beaches and this is a great location in Playa.
The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed Nico, Gaby, Jorge, Luiz, Julian and others.
We had a wonderful time for 2 weeks there.
The pool is a dipping pool, not to sit there all day. Walk to different beaches and all over the friendly and safe Playa.
The grounds are lovely and it is a relaxing place. Be sure your room does not face 10th street or 24th street so it will be quiet.
Enjoy your vacation like we did!

Room Tip: Adults 2nd floor in the corner was great and not facing 10th or 24th street.

I chose this hotel by reading the TA reviews and was not disappointed! Very relaxing, quiet hotel that's also close to Avenida 5 and the beach. Perfectly situated. Front desk was very helpful when we were planning day trips to Tulum and Xel-Ha. Housekeeping service was prompt and efficient, and the staff was very friendly. If we make another trip to Playa, we will definitely be staying here.

This hotel and its staff have just the perfect ingredients for a great vacation. My sister and I stayed there 9 days and really enjoyed it. The location, the ground, the food, but most of all the staff was amazing. Thanks to Julian, Gaby, Nico, the manager, and all the other that made our stay so special. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who prefers an alternative to the no personality all-inclusive hotels.

We booked this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews, and were not disappointed. It was exactly as other posters had presented it. Steps away from 5th, comfortable room, exceptionally clean, and close to the beach. AC was super quiet, and the towels were really soft! I emailed Luis with Guest Services before we left and he was able to accomodate all of our room requests. Our room was close to the reception area and the telephone woke my boyfriend up our first morning there, but after casually mentioning what happened we never heard the phone again. The people that work here are lovely! If we are ever in Playa again, we would definetly stay here.

Room Tip: We had a street-facing room, but the noise was no worse then what we get at home.

We just spent four lovely nights at Aventura Mexicana. It is a true urban oasis. Once you step onto the grounds and into the courtyard, you feel like you are miles away from the city. Located just steps from the bustling 5th Avenue, you are in a prime spot in Playa. The hotel has two lovely, but small, pools, ample lounging area, and indoor or outdoor seating for dining. One pool is reserved for adults, the other for children, which is nice.

Breakfast is continental - fresh fruit, yogurt, sweet breads and toast, plus coffee and juice. You can also order eggs and other hot items for an additional charge. The restaurant staff is so nice and friendly. They really started your day off on the right foot!

Our room was very nice -- large bedroom area, flat screen TV and ample built-in storage closet. We opted for a full private bath instead of a room with a 3/4 wall. All you have to do is request one of these rooms when making your reservation. Everything was very clean and well maintained.

The staff is very accomodating! They helped us with car reservations (steering us away from guided tours so we could explore on our own), and ideas about where to visit. They told us how to catch the collectivo (an inexpensive way to travel to other nearby towns). They have passes to nearby beach clubs -- which are just a few blocks from the hotel. They have big beach towels to borrow.

One word of advice -- make sure you re-confirm your trip back to the airport!!! even if you have pre-paid, they don't automatically come back since so many people extend their visits. we were lucky and had plenty of time in the morning, but on busier days, it may not have been possible.

Room Tip: ask for the full bath rooms if you want privacy with your travel partner

The options for resorts are - places right on 10th/5th avenue or something a little further away with access to the beach. The places with access to the beach are potentially a little more expensive for the same quality. (don't quote me on that. but the places i looked at suggested that scenario).

We wanted to stay as close to the 5th/10th ave as possible so we could walk to the shops and restaurants.

This is a small hotel with 2 small pools (a kiddie pool and one a little deeper than that). not much swimming can be achieved but they are great to cool off. The interior feels very tropical. I loved the way the rooms face the courtyard in the middle with a lot of greenery and the pools. Feels secluded and very mexican :-)

PROS - appropriate room size

all amenities available - AC/ small fridge/microwave with bowls/ mineral water in the rooms/hot water etc. (no doors to the bathrooms but based on my readings this is not exclusive to this hotel. it is some sort of traditional mexican design which feels weird .. but that is what it is)

sandwiched between 10th and 5th ave. the latter has all the shops and most of the restaurants. another advantage is that it is smack in the middle of the approx 1 mile strip (5th ave) so it is an easy walk both ways.

they provide beach towels/snorkel equipment - same everywhere

BIG PLUS - extremely helpful staff at the front desk. There were 3 young men in particular (i forget their names) who made calls to car rental companies/arranged tours for us/talked to cab drives and gave us all sorts of information. Thank you for that aventura. This made the stay very comfortable.

the all inclusive is a good thing to go for. the mayan bistro (their onsite restaurant) is pretty good. My husband and i are vegetarians (which is why we wanted to stay close to the restaurants). They had decent options for us. I heard good things from the rest of the guests abt the seafood etc. good breakfast options. (when you book an all inclusive place you could always look at the menu at their onsite restaurants to help you decide)

They can arrange for private tours if you like. These are not complete guided tours but cabs to the place you want to go. i would recommend you call a tour company if you want a prearranged guided tour

clean.

CONS - small pools for those who want to swim in the hotel pools daily. these are not heated pools or hot tubs. we went to the beach everyday so it was less of a problem for us

no direct beach access. The public beach is a very short walk. they have an agreement with 2 resorts nearby , so you can access the beach through those places. or you could pay 2-3 $ at a different set of resorts. It is a very short walk to the beach

This place does not include kid activities etc , nor does it advertise itself differently. Just an FYI. this was a non-issue for us.

No fitness center.

Not much else in terms of negatives really. we were very happy we booked a room at aventura mexicana. We felt well taken care of. The crowd was mostly younger/older couples with a few families mixed in.

Another FYI/room tip - we liked the rooms which were located directly across from teh restaurant. One of the advantages of the rooms in that area is that the wifi works well. We were able to watch netflix movies. From previous reviews it looks like some of the rooms may not have good wifi connection. the guy at the front desk hinted at something like that when he said "wifi should work well in your room".

Room Tip: rooms directly across the restaurant - good wifi. we stayed on an upper level room - no comment on...

This is a Great place!! I enjoyed the surroundings. The rooms are elegant but simple. Being able to eat in or go out and enjoy the many great places to eat in Playa. But I never ventured far because the hotel restaurant, "Mayan Bestro" Provide such a nice blend of cuisine I spent most of my meals enjoying the delicious menu varieties in the paradise like court yard. All in all a great Stay. And if you go I suggest you book a massage. The staff were friendly and attended to my every needs. Check it out next time you are in Playa del Carmen!!
