“Great hotel”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from July 5 through July 11 2013. This was in the middle of the summer so I will address the air conditioning first. The air worked perfectly in our room. We never had a problem cooling off the room after a long day in the sun. We stayed in the honeymoon suite room400 on the adults-only side.

The hotel was quiet until around 7 or 8pm. Then the hotel next door would turn on their music. We could hear it in our room. The music was loud enough that we could hear it but not loud enough that we could not sleep through it. They turned down the music promptly around 10pm each night.

Our room was right outside the patio of the Mayan Bistro. This was a perfect location because we could us the free wifi from the restaurant. The hotel wifi did not work in our room.

The only flaws of the hotel were the bathroom and the bed. Yes the bed was firm; too firm for my liking. After day three I began to have lower back pains. I have never had back pains before. The bathroom had a pony wall. So you already know if someone had to “use” the bathroom the person in the bedroom would suffer. We knew this beforehand and used scented spray. However no one wants to “hear” another person using the bathroom

Even with those two things said, I would stay here again. The workers at the hotel were the best. Very helpful and polite. They even booked an excursion for us when our original company did not show up. I will recommend this hotel to all my friends.

Their are only a handful of English channels but we never had a problem finding something to watch.

Hola Adrienne M,

I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us but I am sorry that you did not sleep as well as you should have due to a firm bed. Having the right bed types for all guests is always a challenge for hotels in general. It is very important to us that our guests enjoy a great night’s sleep so we have multiple types of mattresses and foam tops available at request. As a note for all future travelers we highly encourage our guests to let us know how we can make their stay more comfortable. We have on many occasion switched mattresses to best accommodate our guests. We will do whatever we can to improve your vacation experience!

As several guests have noted many of our rooms have bathrooms with pony walls (3/4 walls). Based on the feedback we have received regarding this preference we now have equally as many rooms with enclosed bathrooms so please be sure to let us know what you would like at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate.

We look forward to seeing you again Adrienne M and wish you and your family all the best!

Rob

My husband and I spent a week at Hotel Aventura in July. We are very picky when it comes to hotels because we want them to be very very clean. The cleaning staff did an exceptional job every day! The room is simple, but very comfortable. Other reviews mentioned the open bathroom and the sliding glass door so we were ready for that. The bed was not the most comfortable, but it was fine. The hotel staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Adding on the VIP package is more than worth it. The VIP package gave the hotel a B&B feel. We ate our meals with the same families every day and spent hours talking with them. The pools and courtyards were very relaxing. It was a great peaceful paradise in the heart of the busy town. We are planning on staying here again.

This place can really be summed up in 3 letters W O W! From the manicured grounds to the service and the food, this is for sure a 5 star property. I have been in the hotel and restaurant business for over 15 years and the service and friendliness of the staff was over the top. We were there for 5 days and didn't want to come home. Weather it was eating at the Bistro on property or getting a recommendation from the staff for a place to go off property it was all great! Right outside the door of the hotel was the main street with all of the shopping and entertainment that you could want/need depending on what you are looking to do on your vacation and a few blocks down you are right at the beach. Forget those monster hotels that churn guests in and out like a factory, do a little homework (or take my word for it) and head to the Hotel Aventura Mexicana. I suggest getting the VIP package which includes all your food and top shelf beverage down at the restaurant and bar.

After a long day visiting ruins we pulled into Aventura Mexicana for the second half of our Playa del Carmen vacation (the first half spent at an all-inclusive resort). We were greeted with friendly smiles and a cold, eucalyptus scented wash cloth, which was the best start to a hotel stay ever!

The hotel is an intimate location with two pools in separate courtyards that each have their own atmospheres. We stayed in the deluxe room and did the VIP package which is an all-inclusive. The room was wonderful, and we had read reviews, so were prepared for the semi-open bathroom facilities. The bed was more comfortable than in the resort room, and we had more room than we actually needed. Not that we spent much time in the room.

The location is in the center of the action. It is one block from all the excitement (restaurants, bars, shopping) on Quinta Avenida. We also wandered around town which is five to ten blocks West of the hotel. We felt very safe in every direction we visited. The beach is only a few blocks and the hotel provides towels for your convenience.

Back at the hotel the courtyard called our name. The breeze and the shade from the palm trees set the tone. Then there were the smooth music chosen by Rob the manager who we had he pleasure of accidentally meeting during breakfast of our first full day. To top off the entire experience was the wonderful drinks, food, and staff Chris has put together at the Mayan Bistro. See separate review for this treasure. After the heat of the day on the streets of Playa del Carmen there is no more inviting place to be. My wife and I spent hours here relaxing, unwinding and enjoying each other.

A most pleasant vacation that we will repeat!

This hotel is truly a jewel in Playa del Carmen. I had a lovely, large room near the adult pool. The king size bed was very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, with plants and flowers surrounding the pool and restaurant. It feels like a spa. It was quiet and relaxing. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional.

The very best part is the Mayan Bistro restaurant. Every meal I had was delicious. The food is made fresh when you order it, it is not sitting on a buffet for hours. The restaurant manager, Chris, is very visible. He speaks with the guests and makes sure everyone is satisfied.

Some of the guests would walk back from the beach for lunch, that's how good the food is!

The bartenders were great, too,

Would I recommend this hotel? Most definitely! I can't wait to go back.

This hotel is a really good option for families with kids. It was not the most low cost hotel on our trip but there was good value for the money. The staff is friendly and service minded. The room was of acceptable size for a family with 2 kids. Breakfast was ok and the pool really nice on a hot day.

Room Tip: Super rooms on the ground floor facing the pool.
