“Met our needs for a two week stay”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

This is a charming hotel that has a perfect location, friendly and helpful staff and is very clean. This is not your typical all inclusive generic American style hotel. If you want the chain hotel experience, this is not for you. The rooms are entered via a sliding doorwall that has a key lock. The bathroom has a 3/4 wall partition and no door. There is a coffee maker, small fridge, microwave and a small cruise ship style safe with a key lock. The bed was very firm but comfortable. a ceiling fan and individual room air conditioning allows for complete temperature control. Hot water is scarce during peak periods, but luke warm is OK for us. We were on the third floor and a mobility impaired person could not manage the 35 steps. The pools were very clean and well maintained and the grounds are beyond compare. You are literally steps from 5th avenue with all of the restaurants and shopping. Louis Ortiz is the best concierge for booking excursions, restaurant reservations and any information you require. Many thanks to Louis (we really loved the fantastic Valentine's evening reservation you secured for us at Alux) and the staff for their kindness and excellent service. Although this hotel was not the ocean front luxury style hotel we usually choose, we were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the adult side courtyard are very nice, but there are many stairs to get to the upper floor...

My wife and have stayed here numerous times and most recently in early February. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. Need a rental car - done, Restaurant suggestion - a good one - all set, beach club to visit for a day in Tulum - yeah they suggested a great one. Beautiful courtyard, good coffee in the morning, 3,blocks from the beach and very reasonably priced. Your gonna really like it here and your gonna come back - guarenteed.

Hola NHRick family,

It was great to have you visit us again! Your review is perfect because I think one of our best traits is our willingness and ability to sit with our guests to understand what adventures they are looking for so we can point them in the right direction. Our staff is very knowledgeable, especially Luis, of all that the Riviera Maya has to offer and we have great relationships with reputable tour operators and business owners to ensure our guests are taken care of.

We look forward to your next stay NHRick family and the opportunity to make your next Playa adventure even better than the last!

Did I mention how friendly the staff are?!The folks at this hotel are serious about the service they provide. They are also genuine. I've stayed at this hotel on three occasions in the past and it has continued to improve over the years.

I love the rooms, gardens and pool and while the hotel is not directly on the beach, it's just a few blocks away. That's just fine with me as I save money.

The hotel now has an excellent lounge (see my review). Try one of the Kava or other healthy drinks in the new Kava Kasa Lounge. The hotel also offers excellent yoga classes guided by Ann, Chelsea and others. You got to stay here!

Room Tip: Ask for a room where the main pool is located. It's a little bit quieter there.

Hola Robert,

As always it was great to have you stay with us! I know you are a very traveled guy so hearing that you enjoy our hotel so much assures me we indeed have something special!

I am glad to hear you enjoyed your Experience at the new Kava Kasa lounge. It is the only lounge in Mexico serving South Pacific Kava. It is an amazing place to relax and forget about the stresses at home. This great space now offers our guests live music, a local market and daily donation based yoga. Truly a great and unique addition to the Aventura Mexicana and Mayan Bistro family.

See you next time Robert.....soon I am sure!

For the first time ever, I come back to a place and hotel - simply because it was perfect.

My boyfriend and I stayed seven nights at Hotel Aventura Mexicana February 2013.
We had a fantastic stay there.

The hotel has a cozy, romantic and very homely atmosphere.
The room was very good and spacious with a large bed, fridge, flat screen and everything you need.

We had dinner twice at hotel restaurant Mayan Bistro, and we can highly recommend. The breakfast was also fine.

The location of the hotel is also perfect - in the good (and a little quieter) end of the street with restaurants and a super gorgeous beach.

The service from the staff was also very welcoming and friendly. We had great help with booking tours and for taxi service.

We would highly recommend a stay at Hotel Aventura Mexicana, and we will be happy to come back.
A stay at Hotel Aventura Mexicana is certainly value for money.

Hola Trine & Niels,

We were happy to have you visit us again and hope to see you again next year! We also appreciate you taking a moment to write a nice review of your experience with us.

I agree that our hotel is very cozy, romantic (especially at night with the lighted gardens and water falls) and homey. Most of our staff have been with us for many years and we are truly a family which shines through in our attention to our guests needs.

I am also glad to hear you enjoyed your dinners at our very popular Mayan Bistro restaurant. The team has really elevated their service and food quality of the past two years and now we have people coming from all over the Riviera Maya to enjoy.

See you again next year Trine and Niels!!

Thanks to all of the honest reviews, our trip was exactly what we expected it to be.
All of the employees were nice and friendly without their hands out for tips.
The place is dated but I think they are updating, we had 2 flat screen tv's and a new AC in the room.
The door is like a storm door back home, that has to be locked with the key from the inside, not up to USA fire codes.
This was our first trip down by not doing an AI, if we do it again I would not have an issue staying here again.
2 blocks down and 2 blocks over will put you at the beach, (mamitas/kool).

Hola DMinMass,

I am happy to hear that our hotel and service met your expectations and that you will be happy to return for another visit. You are correct in that we are doing some updating this year to improve our guests comfort and experience.

We have already upgraded all of our linens throughout the property, we have new pillow's in all of our King rooms and new ones are on the way for our doubles, we will soon have Wifi in all of our rooms and have been assured by our service provider that our internet service will be one of the best in town! We are also replacing all of the locks for the reason that you mentioned. We have also added "POD" coffee machines to our junior suites and honeymoon suites. Also on the way are new shower curtains and Belkin multi use power strips with USB charger.

Thanks for taking the time to write about your experience so that future travelers can best find the hotel and location that suits their expectation for a vacation in paradise!

We hope to see you on your next visit to Playa and wish you and your family all the best!

We decided to skip the all inclusive this year and booked the Aventura Mexicana for 8 days solely on the reviews we read. This truly was a new adventure for us and we were NOT disappointed. This hotel is a little gem located downtown half a block from 5th and a couple of blocks from the beach. The courtyard area is beautiful and everyone there is friendly and helpful. The rooms are pretty basic but very clean and yes the bathroom takes a little getting used to but wasn't that bad. We were on the 3rd floor. It was ok for us but anyone having issues with a lot of stairs should definitely ask for a bottom floor room. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and had one meal at the Mayan Bistro but also chose to eat out at some of the many excellent restaurants in the area. The beach in Playa del Carmen is amazing - white sand and clear blue water. You can actually walk for miles.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a great Playa experience.

Hola Koncir3,

We are happy to hear you enjoyed you Adventure in Playa del Carmen and our hotel. I agree that Playa is best experienced from a centrally located boutique hotel, especially the Aventura Mexicana :), as opposed to the large All Inclusive hotels located outside of town. Playa is such a pedestrian friendly beach town that walking out of the hotel and on to the famous 5th avenue or the white sandy beach is what it’s all about!

I appreciate you reminding future travelers to let us know of their requests and we will do our best to honor them, such as a first floor room to avoid the stairs or a room with an enclosed bathroom. We are a boutique hotel with 49 rooms, all with different locations and character, which helps us to meet a lot of our guest needs and requests.

I wish you amazing memories of your adventure and hope you return to create some more!

I have just come back to cold Poland. I was my (and my family) first visit in Mexico, and I am sure not the last. The hotel was super. Perfect located, very quiet and with intimate atmosphere. Front desk people vey very friendly and helpfull. Very tasty cusine in Mayan BIstro and always happy bartender. Room always clean and smelling very fresh. Even the "dry" pool was not a problem because ocean was so warm that we spent there a lot of time. A am sure that if I have chance to come back I will visit Aventura Mexicana. I can trully recomend that hotel a very very good place for spending nice vacation in Playa Del Carmen.

Thank you so much Przemyslaw M for sharing your experience at our hotel and restaurant with future travelers! We are happy to know that you and your family had a nice vacation with us. I also would like to thank you for your understanding of the “Dry pool” during your stay. It is necessary to perform annual maintenance on it and I am glad you agreed that it looks amazing and very inviting! We appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you and your family again next year.
All the best to you!
