We started our stay at Mayan Palace and after 2 nights at a Mega Resort that overcharges for everything and you have to walk a mile to get anywhere, we checked into Aventura Mexicana. We were overjoyed! The room was oversized with ample amenities including the microwave, refrigerator and a coffee pot ( Mayan Palace provided NONE of these). Our vacation started when we checked in to Aventura. Everything is very well kept, including the restaurant, grounds, and rooms. The service was outstanding....everyone went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Quaint little boutique hotel in the middle of a lively town. Location was absolute best! The beach club they partner with ( Kool Beach Club) was also very nice! Will definitely go back to this charming hotel!

Loved Playa del Carmen & Aventura Mexicana! The hotel has beautiful grounds & several smallish pools. Very lush & tropical with the sun we had every day. Food at the Mayan Bistro was good....best steak ot the entire holiday served here according to my husband!
Very friendly staff & convenient location. Hotel is one block away from 5th av. & only several blocks away from a large supermarket & a Walmart!
Overall great.......If I needed to complain about anything & I hate to be negative but....I would warn guests not take room 1112. The room had a broken screen door which had no lock! Even though we felt safe, anyone could have come in. Actually someone did come in....the resident cat who would open the door & wake us early in the morning. The front door is right next to where everyone walks by to give there morning greetings. And the room it self just seemed to be a bit shabby & unfinished (wardrobe on wheels) hmmmmm! Sorry....I really loved the place except for these minor, but irritating details.
Anyway....cheers from London.....hope to come back next year!

You never know what you'll end up with when you book over the web. This Hotel was a great find. As others say the location is ideal, and we found the staff to be very considerate and attentive without being over bearing. Without a doubt would stay here during future visits.

My husband and I read all good reviews about this hotel and were still skeptical but we booked the hotel anyway. We were not disappointed, when we arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was darling and beautiful, the perfect size for the vacation we were looking for. Cozy and delightful, we loved every minute of our vacation there. Once checked in, we were escorted to our Deluxe King room which we paid a little extra for. It was clean, and a decent size with a bathroom and small area to sit. We had TV with a few English speaking channels, but when you're in paradise you don't watch much TV. The pool was a stone's through from our room. We had a safe in our room and a mini fridge along with a hair dryer. The scenery around the hotel was beautiful, with lush gardens, I truly cannot say enough nice things about it.

Luis, the conceirge was very helpful with ideas of activities and places to visit. We were less than a block from famous 5th Avenue and two blocks from the beach. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will definitely stay there again. Soon I hope!!

One thing that may disturb someone looking for quiet is in the evenings if your room is by the restaurant they play music and you can here it from your room. It did not bother us but it may be annoying to someone looking for total peace and quiet. It stops around 11pm or 12am and I had no trouble falling asleep with it playing. My husband and I are in our late 40's early 50's so we go to bed around 10 and it didn't bother us.

One more plus, we got massages at the hotel for $35 each. They have an outdoor massage area, very professional and inexpensive. Fabulous!!!!

Perfect location. Quiet and peaceful. Close to 5th yet no late night noise from the clubs. Service was pleasant and cheerful. The breakfast crew were delightful as was the late night bartender. Cudos to the gardner and grounds keeper.
Great Value. Great Vacation. Would recommend to anyone.

My husband and I decided to go to Playa del Carmen for our 5th Anniversary, it was the best desition we made, we stayed at this hotel just one block away from the main street in Playa, the rooms are very spacious, clean, great service, continental breakfast included, which is great 'cause we spent all day in excursions so no time for All Inclusive, free Internet, excellent staff, we definitely will go back to Playas and Aventura Mexicana.

I was a little apprehensive prior to arriving at the hotel, the lack of a big pool had me worried...but once i arrived i knew we were going to love our stay here. Set in tropically landscaped gardens with flowers, waterfalls and boho chic features.

The front of house staff are friendly, personable and helpful, the mayan bistro cafe was our favorite breakfast haunt and the housekeepers did fantastic job throughout our 8 day stay.

The only thing i didnt love was the bathroom's layout, theres no toilet door to shut in the standard rooms so if you're a shy type you may want to ask your partner to go hangout on the porch or take the deluxe king room which appears to have more privacy ;)

The hotel is located in exactly the right spot off of 5th avenue to go to the better restaurants (not the overly touristy home from home places down) and right around the corner from a great tour booking company called Info Tours who'll go out of their way to find the perfect trips for you to go and discover Mexico on.

Marmitas beachclub is a 3-5 minute walk away and is 90 pesos a day (5 pounds) for 2 beds and an umbrella (that midday sun gets damn hot!) which is reasonable as then you get to use the bathroom and shower facilities and to order drinks and food to your beachbed. With white sand and turquoise water, it's pretty amazing.

There's tons of nightlife here too, but after a day exploring in the sun we had dinner and retreated back early most nights.

For all gym bunnies there's an amazing looking gym opposite the hotel that was always buzzing.

All in all we had a really great time in Playa del Carmen and in the Hotel Adventura Mexicana, and the next time we go to SE Mexico we'll absolutely stay here again.
