This was not our first trip to Playa Del Carmen, but it was our first time staying in a hotel that wasn't on the beach. Playa is growing at a tremendous rate and we wanted to stay away from the bus depot and the boom boom night clubs and Hacienda was the perfect location.

We were greeted upon arrival with drinks, cold cloths and smiles. The staff here is very accomodating and extremely friend. I had read a "few" reviews here and Giuseppe's name had been mentioned so I asked to meet the man himself. Giuseppe seemed to be a fairly busy man, but always made time to stop and say hello and ask how the stay was going. And of course, I can definitely appreciate that.

The rooms were filled with nice, but large furniture. The beds were extremely comfortable, which you probably know, reading other hotel reviews. A soft bed is difficult to come by in Mexico! Great bathrooms and yes, once I figured out how to turn on the AC, nice cool evenings encouraged a great nights sleep.

Friends of ours canceled at the last minute and jokingly we asked Giuseppe for an upgrade since they've already paid. Well, he let us have the master suite one night since it wasn't booked. Yes, as a second room. It was VERY nice. Thank you Giuseppe!!!

The pool was larger than I had thought since there were so many reviews that said it was tiny. It's not huge by any means, but you certainly won't hit the other side if you dive in! There is a bigger boutique hotel going up right next door so you see that from the pool but it wasn't a hassle to us at all. They kept the pool very clean and put out beach towels with flowers on them every morning. (just be careful in the walkway outside the rooms... it can be a little slippery if you've just gotten out of the pool. I found out the hard way, ouch! ) As for the "noise"... well you're IN playa.. so yes, you MIGHT hear an occassional car drive by, but it was by no means too much to handle.

There's a cafe type area that serves a continental breakfast, nothing fancy, but it'll do the trick, especially for me, since I don't really "do" breakfast. Coffee, cereal, scrambled eggs, Chiliquito's... worked just fine for us!

Mamita's beach club is a short walk away and you can get the discount coupons and beach towels at the front desk at Hacienda. Definitely a great deal!

All in all, our trip to Hacienda Paradise was a fantastic one and we would most certainly go back. For claiming to be a "tiny" boutique hotel, it sure was big on customer service and satisfaction. Definitely a "must visit" in my book.

Our family stayed here from Mar.29-Apr. 8, 2009. We cannot begin to say how much we enjoyed this Hotel. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the concierge, maids, girls serving and making breakfast to even the maintenance crew were amazing. Very warm and polite. This is the perfect place to stay, the location is excellent, only one block away from all action of shops and 5th avenue and just a few blocks from the beach. Our girls are 15 and 19 and they had a blast.
The complimentary wireless internet and also 2 computers in lobby were nice to use at night to touch base with family in the states and research sites to visit. The concierge was extremely helpful going the extra mile for our family.
The rooms were clean ( I am very picky) and our balcony faced the pool, which is small but only ever had 2 or 3 people in it at the most, in fact we were always the only ones in it when we swam.
Contrary to some reviews there were no bugs, cockroaches etc ever seen except at night on balcony a few mosquito's. There was no charge for towels, but a 1.50 charge for use of either a beach lounge chair or umbrella at the Mamitos Beach Club which is actually a discount of what the Club charges and well worth the cost, who wants to sit in the sand the whole day! We went there almost every day, very nice and safe to leave stuff on chairs and swim. They are building next door but we never heard a sound, one day we spent whole day in courtyard area in the shade and the only sound we heard was one worker singing a little, seemed like the major work was all done to us.
The hotel staff is very prompt to serve you, we had a lightbulb burn out in bathroom and we mentioned it , not even 4 or 5 minutes went by and someone was there to fix it. Breakfast was great, more than enough and I love to eat!!!
The only drawback for me was the beds in our room (20) were extremely firm, so firm I actually cried myself to sleep the first night my body just couldn't relax. But by the last night I was getting used to it, I should have grabbed an egg crate mattress topper at Walmart when we went to town. Air conditioning and a fan worked very well and it was hot when we were there.
I was really worried having one room with 2 teenage girls to share and having enough space and storage since pictures make it look like there is no dresser etc. but we had an abundance, the chest with the tv on it holds a minifridge on one side and 2 or 3 deep drawers on the other plus the night stand held all of my husbands clothes and books etc. There is a closet floor to ceiling in hall way with cupboards at top big enough to store all of our luggage , also a big safe that held our laptop, camera's etc. I brought a clear overdoor shoebag with 16 slots for bathroom which we hung over the shower wall and held all of our sunscreen, toiletries so plenty of storage in bathroom for us left over.
Every night we loved to walk the 5th ave. and some nights would catch a taxi out front for $5 and go to the other end and walk back. Very safe never felt threatened and our girls are very pretty blonds. Food everywhere was excellent and close by ! On 5th ave, Karma bagels was great for lunch, gelato at Caio Gelato was great the best Mexican food with a table on the roof overlooking all the action was at Los Ranchero and we even all got 1st round of drinks free, the mexican platter for two was amazing!!! El Fogon a few blocks up (30th ?) was a wonderful mexican place that all the locals go to with amazing pastor tacos. Loved being right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to go. Will definitely come back and stay!!!!

This hotel is typical of the in-town places in Playa -- it's relatively small and jammed into one of the blocks between the ocean and 10th Ave (the main N-S drag). In this case, it looks like an older motel was upgraded with "boutique" touches -- the usual boutique hotel stuff (rainshower shower head, quirky toiletries, Modern furniture in the lobby). On the outside, it still basically looks like a motel.

But that's OK, because this place is still good. The location is great; it's maybe 2 long blocks to the beach (the North Beach, which is the nice one). They have a deal with one of the beach clubs where you can reserve a beach chair in the lobby at a discounted rate and then claim it when you hit the beach -- meaning you don't have to carry money with you. Because it's in the North End of Playa, it's quieter than the places right downtown -- but it's only 5-10 min walk to 10th St, so not really very far. Literally around the corner from 5th Ave. Really, I don't think the location could be improved on.

Room was nice enough. If I had to complain, I'd say the water pressure could be better. The pool is OK, small. Breakfast was included, it was decent. Staff is very nice and helpful, and speaks great English.

We stayed at Hacienda Paradise during busy Easter week for two lovely nights and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Having traveled to Mexico, the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen several times, I have experience with the range of properties and pricing, and this little gem was a wonderful find.

Greeted with fresh cold towels and bags taken to our room in a zip, we were given a quick tour of the intimate garden with a small but sparkling pool and comfortable lounge chairs decorated with fresh towels and flowers on each chair. Our room, as requested for my teenage niece and myself, had two double beds made in all white over-the-top thread count sheets with duvets and pillows galore. Everything in the room was brand new, from the wall mounted flat screen to the generously sized mini fridge and the bathroom with glass-doored shower, a real blowdryer, and luxurious organic bath amenities - shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and soaps. Fresh bottled waters for teethbrushing was included and refreshed daily.

We enjoyed Mamitas Beach Club - so close to stroll to -and the discount and prepayment option provided by Hacienda Paradise was fabulous. We also experienced a smaller beach away from the action of Mamitas one day and enjoyed this as well. We loved being so close to Fifth Avenue and the shopping and restaurants, beach, etc. yet a bit removed from the frenzy and noise. We enjoyed quick dips in the pool after beach and after an evening of shopping and dining.

Although Playa was very hot during our stay, we found our air conditioning kept us very cool when in the room and while sleeping. Showers were a joy with the huge rainshower shower heads and the additional hand shower option, and lots of hot water.

Breakfast was delicious - french toast, a choice of two Mexican egg dishes, many choices of yogurt and cereals, fresh juices, delicious coffee, various breakfast cakes, etc and very well presented in the outdoor shaded area adjacent the pool.

While there is obvious construction adjacent the hotel, we did not experience any problem with the noise. There is construction all over Playa right now so it would be difficult to stay in any of the small hotels in town and not be near noise from construction, and any construction noise we heard is much less than that of the Fifth Avenue if your hotel is right on the Avenue

I had two massages in the small, tranquil massage space in the hotel for the amazing price of $35 for an hour from a professional and holistically oriented massage therapist. Bliss.

Free wireless internet on the property was fantastic for me as I unfortunately had to connect for work, and the two computers in the lobby/salon area with free use and wireless were also a very nice plus.

The management of Guiseppe and his charm, efficiency, and Italian sense of style and service create a calm and perfect environment at an incredible price value. Can't wait to return.

My friend and I were very happy with our choice. The hotel is located on the north end of 10th Ave and one street off of the main strip (5th Ave) - it's a bit quieter up north and we really appreciated that. It was nice to be able to get away from the activity on 5th Ave but yet the restaurants and shops were close. The hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful in choosing a restaurants or scheduling an excursion.

We were glad to have the discount at the beach club - and used it almost every day. When we had read reviews were were a bit concerned about the construction situation, but really it wasn't an issue. Yes, they are building next door, but we were typically out of the room before the noise started in the morning and didn't find it to be a problem, it didn't take away from the comfort of the hotel. We had breakfast in the hotel each morning and it was quite sufficient. Tea, coffee and biscuits were also available in the lobby throughout the day and was nice to have the use of two computers with internet access.

My room on the courtyard was quieter than ones on the busy street side until construction on the addition started in the morning & went til about 5:30 PM. Pictures of poolside bar on website made it look like a convenient place for socializing, but it was only open on the one night a week when a special "Mexican Dinner" was held. I'd be much more likely to return if bar/restaurant was open all day/evening. Recommend for adults; wouldn't be much for kids to do. Convenient location a block from 5th Avenue pedestrian mall with restaurants, shopping & bars. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

We stayed at the Hacienda for two nights in late March. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel has all the amenities one could need. We had a nice mini fridge, hair dryer, all the little shampoos and they were organic products. The pictures online are a little deceiving and we had a hard time keeping the water warm for a quick shower, but we have had the problem before when it comes to traveling outside of the states. You just roll with it. Overall the hotel is a lovely little spot that does have a great location. It is really only a block from shopping, dining, and drinking. We traveled around Playa, Cancun, and Cozumel and found the best deals and shopping are right there in Playa, just around the corner from the hotel. We only swam in the pool once, and although somewhat small it was perfect for a relaxing dip after a hot day in the sun. The hotel had a romantic feel in the evening with pretty little lights in the trees and bushes. The grounds are well maintained and the breakfast area is nice. The staff was always friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. Enjoy we did!
