My fiance and I spent a day with Marlon and 2 other tourists last Wednesda. Marlon, who speaks English, French, Spanish and Italian, picked us up on time directly at our hotel lobby. e stopped in Tulum for coffee and then went to Coba and visited the Mayan ruins site on a bicycle, which was a fantastic experience. Marlon was very knowledgeful about mayan history and local culture. We then went swimming in a huge Cenote (undeground pool), which was quite refreshing since we had to climb the Coba pyramid steps one by one and were sweating like crazy. For lunch, we stopped in Punta Laguna to eat delicious local food and spent the afternoon in the Punta Laguna Eco-Reserve where we ziplined, canoed, and observed 2 types of monkeys. We also took part in a mayan ceremony and received blessings from a local guide.
Water bottles and beer were provided throughout the day! Our experience was intimate and unforgettable. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to get a feel of the local culture and anyone who wants to avoid big crowds/groups without having to pay too much.
