This is a really nice and quiet place to stay in Playa. The courtyard is a lush jungle full of trees. Play is a great place if you're looking for sopping, nice restaruants and night life, but it's growing exponentially and definitely not the place to go if you're looking for a genuine travel experience.

We stayed for 5 nights and loved every minute. The rooms are immaculate and very roomy. The grounds are almost jungle like. The front office was so friendly and informative. Carlos and Rosario were fun and helpful. They arranged a car rental for us that dropped off and picked up the car at the hotel. We loved being so close to the beach and in the city, although we felt so removed from the busy tourist traffic. It was quiet and private. The bird life is amazing. We heard them at sunrise and sunset. There's bottled water available to fill your own bottles. We felt very safe. We were there during carnaval and I hardly heard the noise. You walk out of the courtyard and the city is waiting for you.

Encased in plantlife and cool Mexican tile, you don't need an airconditioner. You're in the middle of everything in Playa Del Carmen, so close that you feel no qualms about walking back from anywhere to retrieve a forgotten item. You get the pleasant sounds of the city, combined with the morning and evening chorus of hundreds of birds, while still feeling secluded in a hidden jungle paradise. Simple, friendly and sedate, you'll relax quickly here, no small accomplishment for an urban hotel.

Large, airy rooms, air conditioned, basically furnished, immaculately clean. Great value. Small refrigerator and lock box in the room. Three blocks from the beach. Room includes privileges at a nearby beach club. No restaurant facilities in the hotel, but many are nearby. Staff is responsive and helpful. We stayed six nights and would gladly return.

Just got back this morning from a week in Beautiful Mayan Riviera. Even in the rainy season the weather was warm and sunny all week (forcast was for cloudy with showers). We had one or two rains at night. Helped to cool things off.
Paraiso Azul hotel is a beautiful hotel just off the beach and 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen. I Can't think of a much better location. Close enough for everything and yet just far enough away to be nice and quiet for the night. The courtyard was beautiful with lush vegetation. The rooms were always spotlessly clean. There was a lot of real hot water for showers. They also now have a roof top area for relaxing and tanning. There was lots of fresh drinking water, even hot water. Rooms had Fans, AC and TV. The Owner lives there and speaks a number of languages and is very helpful for a lot of information. She informed us that she had just made an arrangement with Hotel Mimi Del Mar on the beach for clients' use for beach chairs, washroom facilities, pool, and drinks and food. That was a real plus! It was a very short and easy walk to this spot. I was able to Email with questions before the trip and always got prompt and accurate information to help us plan what to bring and what to do when there.

This hotel is the main reason I keep returning to Playa! Being able to come off the beach after a day in the sun and walk three minutes into my shady, cool, clean hotel room was a luxury I had not expected the first time I stayed here. From the tiled floors to the arching doorways to the large windows with wooden shutters, this place was a lush hideaway we enjoyed for a VERY good rate. A warm breeze ventilates the central garden and pool area complete with hammocks. The staff at the front desk assisted my boyfriend and I in finding and booking cheaper tours and transportation to local attractions. At a later date I returned to Playa with my parents, and Casa owners Larry and Jolanda were so incredibly accomodating and hospitable. You get so much more for your money by staying here- proximity to the beach, friendly staff, and charm you won't experience elsewhere.

This is a first class hotel for us Budget Travelers! Our friends and I booked the hotel online directly from the hotel's website and had no problems. We booked a fan only room with no tv which cost $40 per night. It was our 2nd trip to Playa (1st hotel stay at Hotel Hul Kul- also great hotel) and our friends were impressed with the hotel and Playa! The hotel's arcitecture and garden oasis made you feel like you were in the jungles of Mexico, really experiencing the Mexican culture. The location cannot be beat, being a block from the bus stop, close the ferry and 5th with no noise to complain about. Beds are typical of Mexico as well as non drinking water and low water pressure, but water is hot and room stayed cool at night with the fans. The hotel does provide jugs of purified water for guests. The only disappointment I have is that their website claims to share a pool with a nearby hotel ajoined by a path, but this was not available during our stay due to problems with the nearby hotel. Regardless, I would definately stay at this hotel again!
