“Superb Resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

This was our second visit to the resort. We came last year and really enjoyed our stay. Blue Diamond is a smaller boutique hotel that offers a very high level of service. (Member of Small Hotels of The World). The grounds are immaculate and the rooms large and spacious. We just love the outside shower! It is about 1km from front desk to beach – we had a Palafito on the lagoon just behind the pool/beach area so were happy to walk back and forth but for those a little further away, there are golf-cart shuttles or you can use the bikes provided. There is a “butler” assigned to the Palafitos (Abdher) who does a tremendous job in ensuring any particular request that you may have are attended to daily, (e.g. decaf coffee). The gym is well equipped and the spa offers the usual range of services. There is a good beach area and you can walk for miles towards Playa Del Carmen.

The restaurant staff is exceptional; extremely attentive and provides a very high level of service. There are no buffets here – all the food is prepared to order which also means that you wait a little while and enjoy a relaxing meal; if you want fast food and buffets this is not the place for you; stick to MacDonald’s. Similarly, pool-side and beach service are of the highest quality. Only two restaurants for the evening meal; the Amber, a little more formal than the Aquamarine. We rotated between the two but always checked to see if there was a theme night at the Aquamarine before deciding where to eat. We also enjoyed room service on our outside deck over the lagoon.

Since the resort only opened a couple of years ago, there are still a few minor issues that they are working the bugs out of and we noticed improvements this year over last; (e.g. the waterways throughout the resort have been improved).

This really is an excellent resort and we thoroughly enjoy the Blue Diamond experience.

Room Tip: Palafito - great location and super aspect with the deck over the lagoon.

My wife and I just returned from a visit at Blue Diamond and were incredibly pleased with our experience. The Jr. suite we had was lovely and peaceful. The grounds are incredibly well-kept and the staff were just incredible. In particular, Martina, the concierge, was exeptional in her service and she and her colleagues coordinated day trips for us, adjusted some pick up times for us and generally made our stay even more pleasant than it would have been otherwise.

We cannot wait to plan our next visit to Blue Diamond and would recommend this resort to anyone seeking a peaceful, idyllic setting in which to escape the world and unwind.

The Blue Diamond far exceeded our expectations. The jr suite was large and modern even though it is considered the smallest room. It is much larger than any hotel room. It is not a hotel, rather villas that are situated for total privacy. Quiet and serene, beautiful relaxing music playing everywhere, nice fitness center but small, gourmet meals breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks by the poolside as well (no buffets, no lines). Extremely romantic and peaceful. The staff is outstanding. Very attentive ( I do tip because I don't believe the all-inclusive price with tips makes it to the workers) and everyone is very kind and friendly. Very clean. There is no nite life at the resort which was fine by us. If you want a serene, relaxing, quiet, romantic stay with a la carte gourmet food for all meals, this is the place.

My wife and I spent a week here and thought it was very good value. It has a certain elegance and quiet charm as a resort and the service is excellent.

We would recommend the slightly extra cost of a Palafitos junior suite which are delightfully situated on a lagoon. In addition to the deck that looks out over the water a flight of stairs leads to an extensive rooftop terrace where you have loungers and a distant view of the sea. The butler looking after our area was attentive - he called on us at least once a day - and very efficient.

Of the two restaurants the informal one by the pool and right on the beach was a glorious spot for lunch.

We were so taken we are going back again early in March.

First, let me say that any bad review regarding this resort ....and there are only a few...are to be taken with a grain of salt...everyone loves to be pampered on their vacation but some people demand more than they deserve.
Second, this is an ADULTS ONLY resort...keeping in mind that Adult is 21 and over but mentality doesn't always follow suit....Now that I have that off my chest....This was a fantastic resort and the staff are the most hardworking bunch I have ever encountered. They go the extra mile to make sure you have the vacation you came here for.
The liquor is ever flowing and the food is-non stop...Now, I am a chef and tend to be critical of the cuisine I encounter and I found the food to be excellent, always fresh and consistent. The staff are quick to know your name and remember your favorite dish or drink. The rooms were wonderful...
We had a patio suite which was spacious and extremely comfortable with all needed amenities just at an arms reach.
Nightly turn down service was wonderful to come back to after a romantic dinner at either of their well run restaurants.
The double infinity pools were idyllic and overlooked the stretching expanse of white sandy beach. The pool area was the site of constant gathering and meeting and you are sure to make a temporary friendship or lasting one for that matter.
With that in mind we also found the occupancy rate to be slightly less than 70%...which at times made us feel we had the resort to ourselves.
All and all we were treated like kings and queens and loved every minute of our stay.
My only complaint as mentioned had to do with a small group of other clientele and not the resort or it's staff. Keep in mind that with all inclusive alcohol, you run the risk of certain scenarios unfolding ...Aside from this small issue we loved our vacation here and we will be back many times. Money well spent!

The grounds are beautiful - perfectly groomed, great for taking a walk, and there's even art installations throughout.

As a former chef/server, I can say with confidence that the food is top notch for an all-inclusive. Though there are only three restaurants, don't take that as meaning less variety. The menus change often, and they're packed with exotic dishes from various cuisines.

The cocktails blow any other place I've been out of the water. Each bartender is experienced with making over 100+ cocktails, including classic cocktails. Tip: if you can, try to seek out Abelardo - he's by far the best, and coolest bartender there.

The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, spacious, and chic - even if you get the "smallest" room, like we did.

The overall service was also off the charts. We've never felt so accommodated, but without being overwhelmed.

The beach is super-private, looks out on clear blue waters, and has plenty of space available.

The only caveat is that this place is very quiet. For us, that's a major plus - it was the most relaxing vacation we've ever been on. That said, don't feel like you can't get rowdy - we did. I'm just saying that this isn't the place to go meet 50 new couples and go crazy.

Room Tip: Don't be shy with asking the concierge to stock the minibar with *whatever* you want.

Blue Diamond, week of 1/26/2014 – 2/2/2014
This is an upscale smaller all-inclusive resort. There have been many previous glowing reviews, with which I generally agree, so I will not repeat in detail. The suites are very spacious. Accommodations are spread out and private. The grounds are very nice. There are no throngs of people. It is quiet. There is no hype, no loud music, and few activities. The food was very good to excellent. Food is served artfully. There are no buffet meals. Staff is very attentive and friendly. The resort appears well-managed.
The property is long and narrow, stretching from the beach to the highway. Although one can be a 10 minute walk from a suite to the beach, prompt golf cart service makes the distance inconsequential.
